I, Michael Rinaldini have been involved in healing and spirituality for most of my adult life. Currently, I teach qigong locally; nationally through the National Qigong Association; and internationally via my Qigong Certification program. I also have a background in acupressure (CMT) and offer this service locally.
For the past 30 years, I have studied and practiced in several spiritual traditions: Catholic monasticism, Hindu Vedanta, Zen, Vipassana and Tibetan Buddhism. For the last 15 years, my focus has been on the Daoist tradition. I was ordained a Daoist priest in 2003 and authorized to train and ordain others in 2006. I founded the American Dragon Gate Lineage and presently there are about 10 members in it, either ordained or training for ordination.
As a qigong teacher and Daoist priest my favorite way of describing my interests and inspirations is to quote a few sources of inspiration:
"Attain complete emptiness, hold fast to stillness."
"Can you balance your life force and embrace the One without separation?"
"The ancients who followed Tao: Dark, wondrous, profound, penetrating."
Daode jing
"Within the Dao there is movement and stillness,
within the Dao there is clarity and turbidity."
Scripture on Clarity & Stillness, Qingjing jing
"Just watch out that above the concentrated mind, everything is free and open and coverless. Beneath the concentrated mind, everything is wide and spacious and bottomless." Discourse on Sitting in Oblivion, Zuowanglun
I teach qigong locally in Sebastopol and Santa Rosa, California. I also teach internationally (about seven countries) through my Qigong Certification program. Both local and distance students are enrolled in it. It is a 100 hour program covering four areas of study: a core group of medical qigong exercises, basics of TCM, Daoist studies and Daoist zuowang meditation. Upon completion, students are eligible to apply to the National Qigong Association for professional teacher certification.
As a Daoist priest, I am the founder of the American Dragon Gate Lineage, having roots in the Longmen Dragon Gate sect in China through my ordination as a 22nd generation Dragon Gate priest. I am authorized to train and ordain others as Daoist priests.
People who are interested in learning more about qigong for their own health benefits or who would like to be professionally qualified to teach qigong, and those who have a serious interest in becoming a Daoist priest or simply training in the way of the Dao, can contact me.
