Stacey Brown is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor specializing in individual, couples and family psychotherapy, and maintains a private practice in Fort Myers, Florida.
With more than 15 years of experience as a clinician, and a graduate of the University of South Florida specializing in Solution Focused and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, she is currently serving as a private practitioner working with a broad spectrum of clients. Among her areas of expertise are: ADHD, depression and anxiety for both children and adults, grief and loss, and relationship issues.
In addition, Stacey Brown has presented at conferences and to general audiences on topics ranging from parenting, wellness, educational accommodations, teacher training, behavior management and mental health topics.
Stacey Brown is a practical, interactive, solution-focused therapist. Her treatment approach is to provide support and practical feedback to help clients resolve current problems and long-standing patterns. She incorporates a blend of conventional and alternatives approaches, drawing upon a variety of styles and techniques to incorporate what will be most helpful for each client. With sensitivity and compassion, she works with each client to help them build on their strengths to identify and achieve life goals.
Education
Stacey Brown holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Family and Child Development from Auburn University and a Master of Arts Degree in Counselor Education from the University of South Florida. She has had extensive postgraduate training in childhood behavioral, emotional and academic problems; mental health; domestic violence; women’s issues; and substance abuse.

Stacey Brown is a Nationally Certified Counselor (through the National Board for Certified Counselors), a Certified Cognitive-Behavioral Counselor with a Domestic Violence Endorsement (through the National Board for Certified Cognitive Behavioral Therapists) and a former certified School Counselor. She is a State of Florida Certified Clinical Supervisor and a State of Florida Certified Continuing Education Provider. She is a Board Certified Expert in Traumatic Stress and is a Diplomat of the American Academy of Experts in Traumatic Stress. She is a Member of the Premier Speakers Bureau for the National Center for Crisis Management. Stacey Brown is a National Trainer for theCooperative Discipline program and is a Certified Anger Resolution Therapist.
Stacey Brown was a 1999 recipient of the Lee County Golden Apple Teacher Award.
In May 2003, Stacey Brown was awarded the “Raising a Ruckus Award” by Working Mother magazine, a national publication, because of her philanthropic and advocacy work for children.
Professional Activities
Stacey Brown has served as a School Counselor, Behavior Specialist, Consultant and Staff Development Trainer for the Lee County School District. She has provided Intensive Therapeutic On-Site Services (ITOSS) for children in foster care and emotionally disturbed children, served as an Addictions Counselor for adolescents and their families through residential treatment programs and as a Parenting Coordinator through the Lee County divorce courts. She has presented at clinical, parenting and wellness trainings statewide.
Stacey Brown was the founding Co-Executive Director of Children’s Mental Health Services of Southwest Florida, LLC, a nonprofit organization targeting therapeutic treatment and education for children and families. She also was the founding Executive Director of The Foundation for Professional Development, a training corporation that provides continuing education to licensed professionals in the education and health care fields.
She has served as an Adjunct Professor for Florida Gulf Coast University and Barry University teaching graduating counselors and educators in both bachelor’s and master’s degrees programs.
Stacey Brown is a contributing columnist for Southwest Florida Parent and Child Magazine. She was a weekly columnist for The News-Press in Fort Myers for two years, writing about issues concerning children and families. She was a weekly commentator on the local NBC affiliate’s “Parent-to-Parent” television news show for two years, providing education to the Southwest Florida community on wellness and parenting.

Stacey Brown has been an active member of several Southwest Florida community and professional boards, including the CHADD Professional Advisory Board. She served on the CHADD Editorial Advisory Board of Attention magazine, a national publication. Stacey Brown is a former President of the Lee County Counselors' Association and a Regional Director for the Florida Counselors Association.
