In addition, Uzi provides individual coaching/consulting using his communication and spiritual skills in these areas: relationships, communication, getting what we want and avoiding what we don't. In addition to presenting Communicating with Compassion across the country, Uzi created a 10-session interactive phone conference course. Even trained communicators such as clergy, health-care workers, coaches, consultants and therapists find the course to be of great value.
A casual conversation doesn't require a whole lot of skillfulness. Simple courtesy, honesty and openness are all it takes. The moment emotional energy is present, however, the first thing people need is to be heard, understood and acknowledged. If you wish to be effective in your communication, anything else you say will wait till you have done these three things. - Uzi Weingarten Tired of responding with cliches such as "What I hear you saying is..."? Good for you! That was all the rage back in the 70's. We have much better empathy tools today. - Uzi Weingarten Before you rush to give advice, or even think about giving unsolicited advice, consider this: The truth is, most people don’t want advice—they want empathy and compassion...Advisers would do much better digging deeper to learn more about the issues and offering support instead of unsolicited solutions. - Debra Fine, The Fine Art of Small Talk
