Repetitious boredom. According to Greg Harrelson it leads to success. In order to master something you must do it again and again and again. He goes on to say that what differentiates real success is the willingness to stick to it, of being consistent and mastering repetitious boredom. It makes me yawn just thinking about it.

Insanity. According to Albert Einstein it's to do the same thing over and over again and expecting different results. According to this definition I've marketed, coached, managed email, engaged in social media, worked my plan and so much more in an insane manner. As a business owner it's so easy to fall into the trap of insanity. Here are a few examples of insanity I see every day. You see someone getting amazing results. You want those results so you do exactly what they are doing. When it doesn't work you try again and again.
How much do you expose? As a business owner, especially if you’re in the service industry, you sell yourself. Yes, there is a specific result you provide but what sells, or not, is you. People buy your strengths, weaknesses, challenges, faults, the way you think and your quirks. This is what makes you unique. It is what enables you to stand apart from other people who do the same, or similar, thing as you.
Constructive procrastination, or what I call "I'll Just Do This One Thing First" syndrome, is something I excel at. Even as I type these words my brain is busy searching for something I "need" to do first. According to the dictionary to procrastinate means to postpone or delay needlessly. We ...
A client was a couple of minutes late to our call. He immediately apologized and told me he got caught up in a squeeze-in, he was getting himself a cup of coffee. We laughed for a moment and then he got real serious. He said "You know, as I was getting the coffee I kept hearing your voice in my head asking me if what I was doing right now what needed to be done or was it a squeeze-in." On the face of it, he was 2-minutes late to a phone call. Truly not a big deal; however, where else is this happening and what is the result? Let’s back up for a moment.
In attempting to maintain our overall balance on all levels of our divine expression of spirit we may sometimes wander off the path or get stuck in a place that is not for our highest good. I know this happens to me when I forget to listen to spirit in taking better care of my self. Searching for my inner light and expressing my inner light over the last 40 years has brought me a greater understanding of the interplay of flesh and spirit and balance of the two. Christ taught us to care for our bodies – he taught that we are born in the image and likeness of God.
Mind is one of the most essential modalities of us human beings. To me it is the most fascinating part. The other part of man are essential also, but in my life the mind attracts me the most. I must say mind and Mind, also the Mind with the capital M. And the connection between those ...
It’s an interesting conundrum. We are told that we must provide amazing customer service if we want to get and hold on to customers, but it’s not always true. Don't believe me? Think about how many hours you spend waiting for customer service for your Inte et or cell phone company. There is always a recording playing telling you how important your call is and that they value your business. I bet you spend hundreds of dollars every month with them. Was it their customer service that won your business? Is their customer service what keeps it? Malls are big business.
I know a lot about getting organized and clutter, yet the more I talk about it the more I realize that getting organized and decluttering is not what it's about. n So then what is it about? It is about creating time, space and energy so you can focus your attention on the things that are ...
According to the weather app it's 57 degrees and mostly cloudy. I was hoping to sit outside, get some work done and soak in some vitamin D. I looked outside. Not a cloud in the sky and the sun was warm. Obviously the weather app was wrong. Can you guess where I am right now? Outside on the deck! I'm glad I didn't take that expert advice at face value. There is so much expert advice being offered to business owners.
This is what I posted on Facebook. "It's tempting to say yes to any client who offers to pay you, there are clients that quite simply are not right for you." As the likes and comments racked up I started thinking about that simple statement. I've been on both sides of "wrong client". I've been the wrong client and I've said yes to the wrong client. Both sides are horrible for everyone. Regardless of what type of business you are in, a business owner is in the business of sales. Unless you sell, you don't earn money.
