It’s so simple –yet so hard if you don't know what you're doing. Proper preparation prevents piss poor performance. That says it all. Yet so many entrepreneurs run their business by the seat of their pants, from the panic mode. I call it “near sighted vision”. They only see what's in front of them. It’s as if their calendar only goes 30 days out. They’ll do things such as: Plan to do a telesummit/teleseries next month having never done one beforer Decide they want to hold a workshop next month without the topic conceptr
It's practically impossible to go through life without being hurt by somebody. Most of us humans have a hard time letting go of such injuries and carry these scars of pain, resentment and anger with us for months, years, or even a lifetime. Forgiveness can be a difficult concept to understand. I often hear, "If I forgive her, then she got away with what they did".
Perhaps the greatest challenge in using the Law of Attraction is the time lag between imagining (vibrating) living our dreams and actually seeing them manifest. Say we dream of the good life but we find ourselves in debt. We know we have to change our vibration and put our attention on that which we want, but bills keep piling up. Collection agencies and credit card companies call wanting you to promise your paycheck to them. Okay, maybe you’re not that stuck. nnAt what
Millions of people suffer from anxiety. What are the symptoms? People who suffer from this condition often feel fear and an uncertainty about their future. This uncertainty bleeds into other parts of their life. Usually it stems from disliking their job and a feeling of despair when they think about work. This also affects home life and can have a negative impact on family members who can feel the negative energy. If you relate to these feelings and have them on a regular bas
When I was first introduced to EFT at the beginning of 2004, I was desperate to alleviate the intense and chronic pai I was experiencing as a result of Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS). In particular, pain in my knee joints, thighs and neck, as well as the evening headaches which verged on migraines. One of the many symptoms of the illness is acute muscular pain and there were days when the pain was immeasurable.
Rape can have a devastating effect on a person’s life. Some of that effect can be easy to identify. It is not uncommon for people to have difficulty in sexual relationships, trusting, feeling an irrational sense of guilt amongst may other things. How else can it affect a person’s life? Can a ...
Wow, what a beautiful day in my garden! We've had temps up in the 70s the past few days, and the plants are loving it. I'm still getting tomatoes, which for mid-November up here in the mountains is truly amazing. We've also had over 9¡å of rain, so the hills are turning the most exquisite shade of green.n nWhile strolling through the garden, I noticed a pile of plant debris that I had stacked during the summer, including dried artichoke flowers, sunflower heads and stems, b
Wanting to get rid of something is a stuck and resistant energy. It is also the most common thing I hear when someone comes to me for an EFT session. If, for example, you have had neck pain for two years and it's not going away, more often than not, you'll feel frustrated, angry and helpless that nothing you're doing is 'getting rid of it'. This is totally understandable and you need to begin and accept exactly where you're at and acknowledge how you feel. It can be very difficult to take a moment and ask “Why do I have this neck pain”? “When did it start”?
EFT is magic! Okay, maybe it's not actually magic, but the results are so amazing that it's hard to remember that. EFT has had a profound affect on my life. I had been diagnosed with fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue syndrome and osteoarthritis. I was in pain every minute of every day. I was taking prescription painkillers daily, and stronger painkillers nightly. Even, so I had bad days, and sometimes really bad days. Thanks to EFT, I am now virtually pain free. No more of the daily misery of struggling just to do normal tasks. No more prescription painkillers.
Do you begin your day feeling energized and enthusiastic? Are you glad to be alive and anticipate a day of fun, or do you start out feeling grumpy, tired and out of sorts? Do you drag yourself through each day feeling as if you are not receiving the things you desire? Each new day brings us an ...
Fundamental vs. Emotional RightsnAs citizens of free countries, we are all aware of and enjoy our fundamental rights. We enjoy the right to work, the right to travel, right to worship, freedom of speech and many other such privileges. These rights, mandated by our Constitution, govern how society must treat the individual.n nSimilarly, we are also citizens of an internal or emotional world. In this universe, we have are our emotional rights, which govern how we react to circu
What is Occupational/Job stress? ‘A condition arising from the interaction of people and their jobs and characterized by change within people that force them to deviate from normal functioning.’ ( Beehr & Newman, Organizational Behavior). Stress has psychological, physiological and behavioral implications. A simple example would be that job stress can lead to irritability, elevated blood pressure and frequent arguments at home and in office. Irritability- Psychological Elev
There are times when all of us get into the “poor me” mindset. My house isn’t big enough, my kids aren’t good enough, my partner isn’t attentive enough, my job isn’t fulfilling enough. Somehow, it’s easy to see that glass as half empty. At the time that we’re doing that complaining, we are overlooking some seriously important and wonderful parts of our lives. Maybe your house isn’t as large as you’d like, but the fact that you HAVE a house is something to be grateful for, especially in this rough economy.
Numerology meanings have saved me from insanity over the past few weeks. It is a year ago now, that my significant other told me that he "didn't love me enough" , so our plans to to live together in the far-away place where he had a job for a year, were stopped mid-flight (well, almost). He's now back home, which means still 3000 km between us, and he says he needs another 6 weeks to decide if he wants me back or not.r
“Nothing in life is to be feared. It is only to be understood.” Madame Marie Curie Just about everyone on earth has experienced fear and/or anxiety at one time or another. Whether it’s being anxious over making a good impression with the in-laws, giving an important speech to a critical audience, or worrying about terrorist attacks, we’ve all felt the discomforts of being fearful or anxious.
Clearing Clutter for Clarity and Confidence Messy homes, cars or offices are common issues today with our busy lives. True clutter however, and I mean really messy environments, is really a symptom of something other than a busy lifestyle. Most often clutter is a Control Issue. Being unwilling to let go of things is a way people can feel in control of their lives. Even though it appears that they are totally out-of-control, hanging onto “stuff” gives people a sense of being in control. It’s similar to how anorexics feel about food and their ability to at least control their weight.
Often I hit my local walking trail with a specific goal in mind, something I want to release, understand or raise my vibration about. Last week I wanted to feel better about my thighs. Seems petty I know, and most of the time I’m okay with my body. It’s not perfect, but I do workout regularly and take good care of myself, but every once in a while I get crossways of my positive current and need to do a little focusing to bring things back into a feeling good place. This was definitely one of those times.
Every once in awhile I run across someone who says they have diligently tried EFT and it just doesn't work for him or her. I have only met two people in six years that have found no benefit to EFT. One was a hurried appointment who I wanted to prove something to and he was also highly skeptical. If I'd had more time and a chance to really let go of the outcomes and do some good investigative work, I might only be talking about one. But, that's ok. NOTHING works 100% of the ti
Aren’t you tired of spending yours days and hours wishing and hoping, and never seeing any of your dreams become reality? Hoping that somehow the life you want could be possible, but not really believing that it could be? Well, the first thing to understand if you really want things to change is that you’re going to have to actually do something to make things change. What if I told you that the first step is surprisingly easy? Unbelievably easy, in fact, and not just easy, but incredibly powerful.
Statistics regarding sexually behavior among teenagers can be taken with a grain of salt. Because society has a controversial relationship to sex in general, and at best marginalizes teen sexuality, this population has many reasons to hide their sex lives from adults, and little reason to be honest. This probably accounts for the fluctuating data I’m finding about teens and sex. Most of the research appears to support the conclusion that teenagers are waiting to have vaginal intercourse.
EFT For Procrastinationr Uncovering and Neutralizing Blocks to Moving Forward (If you are uncertain about how to do EFT or where to locate the tapping points, go to my website homepage and request a copy of the EFT Quickstart Manual: www.loraemarsten.com.)Whatever the root cause, with EFT and persistence, we can uncover and neutralize our blocks. Here are some ideas to get you started: Before tapping, ask yourself : What is the downside of moving forward? How would my life change if I stopped procrastinating? Relationships, job, etc.
H has been suffering from depression for many years. She is incapable of having a job, suffering from panic attacks, stress-related eczemas, nightmares and general apathy (just to mention a few!) Medication has brought some relief, but she dislikes the way it tends to make her feel numb even to the good in her life... As a new year’s resolution for 2010, she agreed to try EFT and visualization exercises with me over the phone once a week. It has now been a month, and H has reported immediate peace of mind and raised energy levels during each session.
Do You want to do EFT, but can't find the time to do it every day? A tapping round of EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique) is very quick, yet I know sometimes you just can't find the time to do to as much as you would like. There is one secret place and time where you can always do a round of tapping. You are on your own, with no distractions from anybody else. When and where is this secret place? I'll tell you. The bathroom. You can always go into the bathroom, lock the door and do a round of tapping.
Anxiety is often the main reasons clients come to me and for good reason. It is probably the most common dis-order that people experience. Why? When we allow our thoughts around a particular subject to accumulate–that is, we allow our thoughts to fester and focus on something negative–those thoughts begin to affect our body, specifically the nervous system, and in turn this affects our behavior and ultimately our circumstances.
Claustrophobia can be a crippling condition for people who suffer with it. It can severely limit the things they do and the places they go. For others, they may not even realize that they are claustrophobic until something happens to trigger the condition. This was the case for me. I never liked small, enclosed places, but never really had a problem until I was sent for an MRI last year. Even though the place I was sent did what are called "open MRIs", there is still a very small area enclosed on 3 sides and an open area on the 4th side.
When I had my very first EFT session as a client, we went straight back to my birth. I released a deep, very painful feeling of abandonment, since my schizophrenic mother was unable to bond with me from the beginning. It was a powerful experience, and it made a believe and an EFT practitioner out of me. EFT (Emotional Freedom Techniques) is a simple tapping procedure that gently realigns the body's energy system - kind of acupuncture without the neddles.
Procrastination isn’t just a bad habit; it’s an affliction ruining the lives of nearly 1 millio New Zealanders. Research has found that one person in five suffers so badly from the problem that their careers are threatened. At its best procrastination is time wasting and at its worst it’s a form of self sabotage.
Sex and Body Image The link between what a woman feels about her body and her sexuality is becoming clearer and clearer with each research study. It’s also been estimated that over 40% of women have some sort of sexual dysfunction. Can the two be connected? I believe that they are indeed. If you are constantly focused on how you look, and specifically what your body looks like to yourself and others then you can’t really let go and surrender into great sex. Great sex comes from a complex soup of feeling vulnerable, safe, connected, and present in the moment.
My acid reflux began in my twenties. I abhorred the sour regurgitation - gross and disgusting! Now, forty years later, I know that when acid reflux occurs, my body is telling me I’ve got bitter emotions about control issues I cannot or will not digest. I don’t reach for antacids anymore. I tap away my emotional distress via EFT: Emotional Freedom Techniques, which is acupressure for the emotions. MIND-BODY WISDOM APPLIED TO YOUR DIGESTIVE TRACTr
Imagine being alone all day, living in the same environment you've explored thousands of times. You have nothing to do except sleep and wait for your roommate to get home to feed and hopefully spend time with you. He’s been rather stressed out and crabby lately. Your quality time together has nearly come to a halt and you have little to look forward to every day except eating. r
Divorce is traumatic. Having been through it personally, I can speak to the fact that even if you are ending a terrible marriage, there is still trauma and grieving. You may not be grieving the reality of your marriage, but rather grieving the death of all your hopes and dreams..what you hoped your marriage would become. When I ended a twelve year disaster of a marriage with divorce, I never expected to feel anything except relief that it was finally over with. I was shocked and dismayed to find that I felt a deep sadness over what my marriage might have become and never did.
A potential new client sent me an email the other day. One of the things she said really struck me. She said that before she'd heard about me she was just "killing time til she died." I guess the reason it hit me so hard is that is exactly what my mother did. Myrnmother was a bitter, unhappy woman for most of her life. For the last ten years of her life, she was practically a recluse. She would get up at six inrnthe morning and drink coffee, smoke cigarettes and play Solitaire until 2:00rnpm. Then it was happy hour. The coffee pot would be put away and she would drinkr
Parents often teach their young children beliefs to protect them, however, those beliefs often get carried over into adult lives where they no longer are helpful. Recently, I worked with a woman, Laura, in her 30’s who had a hard time feeling comfortable in a group of strangers. Laura is a business woman and often had to meet with new clients. This issue was effecting her both personally and professionally. Her SUDS level was a 7. Initially, we tapped on the issue of shyness, which helped remove some of her discomfort- in essence, we cut off some of the branches of the tree.
This is the age of information and technology. But what does it means to a common person . He/she is dying with information overload . On any aspect/issue there is tons of advise/tips available but the question is, which one is reliable and in my interest ? You may be a well informed person and calculate the outcome of events around you precisely. But for how long, and on how many issues? The technology, theories and environment all are changing very fast. As a result, any ca
Most are familiar with the saying, “Depression is anger turned inward”. In my opinion, this is an over simplified statement. Many factors can come into play in the development of depression. However, unresolved anger should always be explored when a client presents with depression.
A few weeks ago, when I was using Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT) working with a telephone client, ‘Anna’, she stated, “Bad things happen to good people: it’s always the good people who get sick”. Now, I have no way of either refuting or proving this, but she believed it and I accepted her belief. Anna has been existing with very severe multiple chemical sensitivities (MCS) for 18 months, showing no sign of improvement. Her breathing is supported by an oxygen tank, and she is unable to tolerate (amongst many other things) any cleaning products, perfumes, moulds and most food.
When I conduct an introductory workshop on EFT, I typically ask for volunteers who have a phobia, an irrational fear of something such as heights, tight spaces, spiders, elevators, or flying. I assure the volunteer that I will not make them do anything that they are afraid to do, rather, I will help them release the fear so that the fear is no longer the issue. Phobias provide a good demonstration of the power of EFT because the success rate is high, it can be done quickly, a
No matter how committed we are to eating healthy, each one of us has slip-ups where we give in to unhealthy food cravings. And while that may be okay once in a while, if you routinely eat based solely on your cravings, there may be more than just your taste buds calling the shots. You can blame uncontrolled eating or binging on lack of will power. But what if it is not will power, but your belief system that running the show under the hood? That is some food for thought, isn’t it?
There are good reasons to meditate, pray or contemplate. And quite a few lame reasons not to, which EFT can tackle. Letâs explore both. nnOn a recent talk show, three scientists were each reporting on their studies of the brain using advanced scanning technologies. All three reported stable brainwave patterns in people who meditate, and all three believed that these stable patterns are so significant to your health that the single most important thing you can do for your he
Addiction is a word that we throw around all of the time but what does it actually mean to be addicted to something? And how does one become addicted to anything in the first place? Like all other behavior, the answers to these questions lies in thought and emotion.
There are so many talented and gifted solopreneurs out there who are starting to have some - or having a lot – of success. The problem comes when they start becoming so overwhelmed with everything going on, that the success stops becoming fun. They’re feeling like a gerbil spinning on the wheel in the cage –going round and round - and they don’t know how to get off!
Wow! I wanted to send this woman a mirror. I was having a conversation with someone at a networking meeting who proceeded to tell me about all of the times “coaching” didn’t work for her. She named several other coaches she worked with and proclaimed how both they and their programs had failed her. How it was a waste of money for her. She told me how the coaching industry was a big scheme and everyone was overpaid. Have you ever blamed anyone/everyone else for your failure? For your bad choices? For your mistakes? It’s so easy to do that.r
No matter how sweetly it is packaged, criticism hurts. It comes disguised as feedback from your boss or professors, belittling taunts from friends, customer complaints and nagging from family members who seem to get secret satisfaction in pointing out your flaws. There is an amazing technique to handle criticism well and come out a winner no matter who said what about you.
If you suffer from procrastination, then you are probably familiar with its effects. And you are also familiar with the "why did I leave this til the last minute" feeling. You might have promised yourself that, next time, you will not put off such important tasks again. But, later on, you find that you have repeated same thing again. Why do we put off certain tasks? Well, it all boils down to the feelings and beliefs we have about these tasks. Let's say you're looking at yo
I’d like to express how honored I felt to be included in the making of “Operation Emotional Freedom: The Answer” an insightful documentary about war Veterans and their struggles with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. I was part of a select group of EFT experts, organized by Gary Craig, EFT Founder. Additionally, there were valuable assistants, including my favorite Vet, and EFT Practitioner, Miguel Vasquez, plus a psychologist, psychiatrist and many others support team members.
Guilt, Moralities and Great Sex, Like Oil and Vinegar; How EFT Can Help One definition of guilt is; feeling culpable for imagined offenses or from a sense of inadequacy or self-reproach. We feel guilty when we have crossed a defined boundary. That line we try not to cross was often defined by a moral authority, be it a parent, our idea of God, a religious codex or a societal norm. Guilt is the exact opposite of an aphrodisiac. It leads to feelings of inadequacy, avoidance behaviors, anxiety and can even lead to depression. Want a great sex life?
Any truly effective method of treatment needs to expand its horizons as it goes along. EFT is a remarkable stress management technique, and even more than that, it is a way of handling emotional problems that people may have had for their entire lives ââ and can often do so quickly and permanently. I have spoken many times about the way in which EFT revolutionized my own practice as a clinical psychologist, and how to this day it continues to do so.nnHowever, a major tech
Having success is work. It is challenging. I think so many entrepreneurs forget that. This is especially common for the entrepreneurs who were successful in corporate or when working for someone else. They become disappointed, disillusioned, and discouraged. One of my clients, “Robin” was very successful during her 10 years in corporate. She came to work with me because after a year of trying to build a business she was not making any money, stressed, anxious, had gained weight and wasn’t sleeping. She needed a game plan and she needed it quickly.
