A company making evidence-based dietary supplements called Elysium Health was founded in 2014 by Dr. Leonard Guarente. Dr. Guarente has conducted significant research on the molecular and genetic causes of aging during his career as the director of the Paul F. Glenn Center for Biology of Aging Research at MIT. The goal of the company is to create clinically-validated health products based on scientific and technological advancements.
Elysium Health’s first product is Basis. Basis acts by boosting a coenzyme within the body called NAD+, or nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide. This coenzyme is essential to many of our cellular functions like circadian rhythms, energy creation, and maintaining DNA health. Without it, those cellular functions break down. Our levels of NAD+ decline as we age. By increasing and sustaining higher levels of NAD+, Basis supports our cellular health.
To ensure that Basis works as advertised, Elysium Health put the supplement through a clinical trial. The trial involved 120 subjects, who were divided into three groups. The recommended daily dose of Basis is two capsules. The first group took two capsules, the second took four capsules, group three took a placebo daily. Over the course of eight weeks, participants taking the recommended daily dose in the study saw their NAD+ levels rise by an average of 40 percent and remain there for the duration of the trial. The results of the trial were published in November 2017 in the peer-reviewed journal Nature Partner Journals: Aging and Mechanisms of Disease.
The leadership team of Elysium cares deeply about health and wants to help the broader health community. Working as the CEO of the company is Eric Marcotulli. He was a partner at Sequoia Capital before joining Elysium. As an undergraduate, Eric studied at Princeton, after which he earned his MBA from the Harvard Business School. Taking care of the operational and financial elements of Elysium Health is the COO Dan Alminana. Previously, he worked as Vice President in JP Morgan's Venture Capital coverage group in Silicon Valley.
Whatever chapter of life you happen to be in, Basis can potentially add significantly to your overall cellular health and, as a result, allow you to feel your best. To place an order for Basis today, visit Elysium Health's website. Each jar of Basis contains about a month's worth of supplement. This means that the company sells Basis as monthly subscriptions. A standard monthly subscription costs $50 each month. Longer subscriptions cost more upfront but offer discounts on the monthly rate.
