To combat my own personal “worst enemy” I developed a process that has proven – time and time again – to be my most powerful tool for improving my life, achieving my goals, and making any lasting changes I want to make – easily, quickly, naturally and effortlessly. It’s become my treasured “secret weapon” that protects me from… well from… ME. I call it THE MENTAL WORKOUT, and in this article, I’ll share the specifics of it with you – so you can create your own system for improving any area of your life – and achieving maximum success – the fast and easy way.
You’re about to find out how to create your own personal MENTAL WORKOUT for being and having everything you ever wanted. So let’s get right to it.
The first thing I want to share with you is this:
YOU WILL ALWAYS LOSE THE STRUGGLE BETWEEN YOURSELF AND YOUR EGO. SO YOU MAY AS WELL GIVE UP THE FIGHT RIGHT NOW.
Stop wasting your time and energy trying to fight it. Take a dive. Throw in the towel. Cease and desist. It’s a losing proposition. It’s a fight you’ll never win. You’ve been living with the enemy all your life, and it knows EVERYTHING about you. It knows your weak points, your hot buttons, your fears, your pain, and your medicine for anything that ails you. But its great ideas, quick fixes, and joy rides always end up costing you dearly. And you know it.
So, you fight it – with willpower and deprivation – and radical, uncomfortable lifestyle changes. But you always end up giving in to it. You always lose the fight. Why? Simple; because you’re fighting on the ego’s own turf. You’re playing an away game in your ego’s hometown stadium – otherwise known as your conscious mind. The odds are against you.
So how do you reverse the odds to be in your favor? You stop trying to implement self-improvement changes and achieve your goals using your conscious mind.
YES! YOU CAN DO YOUR BEST WORK WHEN YOU'RE UNCONSCIOUS!
If you allow it, your subconscious mind will bring you what you want EFFORTLESSLY … and QUICKER than you can imagine.
Believe me, I know this is a very hard concept for most of us to grasp and succumb to. Especially those entrepreneurial, Type-A personalities like some of you who are reading this article. But, my experience has taught me that the easiest, and quickest way to achieve success (both personal and professional) is to address and resolve current issues and / or problems at the subconscious level – not at the conscious level.
You have a very powerful silent partner that accompanies you everywhere you go, and communicates with you on a deep level while you sleep. This mighty ally is your subconscious mind, and it is ready, willing, and extremely able to bring into your world everything that you desire and need in order to live your most productive and purposeful life. It is like a faithful servant awaiting your instructions with open arms and helpful hands. All you have to do is quiet your conscious mind, and let go of all the limiting thoughts and confusion that reign supreme there – long enough to give your subconscious mind the suggestions and specific commands that will quickly and effortlessly bring you what you want.
By now, you’re probably wondering if I’ve got the luxury of time to sit in the yoga position all day, staring at a candle and waiting for my next bright idea. Well let me be the first to tell you that as a Television Executive I have absolutely no time for that. And that’s precisely why I created my personal MENTAL WORKOUT system – to engrain into my own subconscious mind the specific commands to manifest for me the things and circumstances I want in my life – in a passive, yet effective way that fits easily into my day.
You see, a few months ago, I decided that there were several things in my life that were missing, and several things that I needed to improve upon. So I made a list of those things and narrowed it down to 5 areas that I wanted to work on:
1) MY SELF-CONFIDENCE
Unshakeable self-confidence is extremely important in business
2) MY HEALTH
It’s hard to succeed in any area of life without vibrant health & energy
3) MY RELATIONSHIPS
My communication and listening skills, my ability to interact well with others, and make people feel comfortable around me
4) MY GOALS AND DREAMS
I needed to get clear on what dreams to pursue, so I could set and achieve only the goals that would move me towards the realization of my true “ideal” life
5) And finally, MY FINANCES
I needed to drive home the point for myself that there is an abundant ocean of wealth and prosperity all around me – and I can tap into that never-ending ocean as often as I want – because it never runs dry – as long as I make myself “properly” available to it. (…but as a back-up plan… I did take up scuba diving!)
So, I sat down and wrote a “MENTAL WORKOUT script” for improving on each one of these areas. I just wrote down inspirational thoughts, affirmations, and actual commands that could help empower me to believe in achieving my goals. I then recorded each of the scripts in my own voice, with some upbeat motivational background music – onto a tape. And for the next 21 days, I listened to a tape a day.
WHY DID I DO THIS FOR 21 DAYS?
It’s a proven behavioral science fact that it takes 21 days to develop a habit. And the best way to get rid of a bad or unwanted habit, is to replace it with a good (or wanted) habit – and do that “good” habit every day for 21 consecutive days. So, rather than fill my mind with “radio junk” on the way to work everyday, instead, I chose to do my MENTAL WORKOUTS in the car every day and work on myself – to improve the quality of my thoughts & change some of my limiting beliefs and behaviors. By listening to these homemade tapes of mine every day, I was filling my mind with more positive motivation – and enthusiasm for creating fast, lasting results – than my know-it-all ego could even fathom.
I gotta tell ya... You would not believe how the people around me started to “change” practically on the first day of my “rigorous yet passive” homemade MENTAL WORKOUT. People were friendlier and happier around me. New opportunities were suddenly being offered to me – that were never available to me before. Life suddenly got a little easier – and overall more enjoyable.
But the truth is NOBODY around me changed. “I” was the one who changed. They were just reacting positively to the new, more positive, more supporting, more loving, and more productive ME. That’s what changed: ME – from the inside out. And that inner change in me reached outward to improve my environment and my circumstances all around.
When my friends found out what I had done, and how well it had worked for me, they wanted to borrow my MENTAL WORKOUT tapes – and I’m happy to report that they got similar, and in most cases, even better results! I’ve even produced custom MENTAL WORKOUT programs on a variety of topics for many of my friends and family because I love helping people get what they want – quickly and effortlessly.
I hope that by now, I’ve illustrated to you the benefits of doing your MENTAL WORKOUTS.
And, if you’re in the mood to create your own MENTAL WORKOUT tape – I want to give you some pointers and production tips.
As you probably already know, our brains are divided into two distinctive and unique parts – the left, which processes logical and analytical information – and the right side, which processes creative information.
So, to achieve maximum results in a minimum amount of time, I recommend that you include in your MENTAL WORKOUT scripts trigger words, phrases, and hypnotic commands that stimulate both the logical and the creative sides of your brain. (Just like you work out both sides of your body at the same time.)
Now, working in the television broadcasting world, as I do, I had the advantage of already owning professional audio editing software, so that enabled me to create my MENTAL WORKOUT in what I call 3D audio to directly interact with both the left and right sides of the brain simultaneously.
If you don’t mind a little Tech Talk, I’ll tell you how I did it. (And later, I’ll tell you how you can do it without any fancy-schmancy software.)
I wrote 3 scripts for each area I wanted to improve on.
1. A MAIN Script
2. A LOGICAL Script, and
3. A CREATIVE Script
Then, when I laid the audio tracks, I laid the MAIN script in stereo, the LOGICAL script on the left track, and CREATIVE script on the right track.
I recommend you make two tapes for each area you want to improve on:
1. One tape, will be your MENTAL WORKOUT, which you can listen to anytime, and
2. The other tape will be your MENTAL CHILL-OUT, which you’ll only listen to when you’re relaxing, or about to fall asleep. So, daily double sessions are an important ingredient to this power mix.
Another key component of the effective MENTAL WORKOUT is the music. You’ll need upbeat, motivational music backgrounds for your inspirational, fast-paced WORKOUTS. And you must have no more than 60 beat-per-minute music background for your relaxing, hypnotic CHILL-OUTS.
And of course, the all-important 21-Day discipline is essential for the reinforcement of new beliefs and behaviors as a permanent habit
THAT'S IT!
THAT'S THE RECIPE FOR A NEW & IMPROVED YOU!
When complete, your MENTAL WORKOUT combines all the principals and benefits of meditation, hypnosis, subliminal messaging, motivation, and neuro-linguistic programming (NLP) ... all in one!
To do this without the audio software, simply integrate the commands from the three scripts by reading one command from each script (in descending order) and repeating the process until you’ve read and recorded all the commands in all three scripts (Main-Logical-Creative, Main-Logical-Creative, Main-Logical-Creative, etc). For example, you read the 1st command from the Main script, then the 1st command from the Logical script, then the 1st command from the Creative script. Next you read the 2nd command from each script, and continue down the list of commands from all three scripts.
A friend of mine tried my MENTAL WORKOUT system to study for a State exam. Here’s how she did it:
1. She recorded the overall details of the study material on her MAIN script.
2. Then, she taped the most important potential exam questions, and their correct answers, on her LOGICAL script
3. And she put the reasons why she wanted to pass this exam on her CREATIVE script
She listened to her tape twice daily for 3 weeks before her exam – and she passed it with flying colors! (That got me a free lobster dinner! ;-)
