This quote by Rob Williams, originator of PSYCH-K and author of The Missing Piece (Peace) in Your Life, got the attention of the workshop audience that morning in San Mateo, CA last November. Apparently the room was filled with people who had grown up in a “dysfunctional family” of one type or another and everyone’s wounded inner child sat up straight and moved eagerly to the edge of the chair. During the next two days, the meaning of that quote was revealed and for many, the promise it conveyed was fulfilled.

It turns out that from the time we’re in our mother’s womb to around age 6, our brains’ predominant vibratory frequency is relatively slow-between 0.5 to 4Hz (Delta Range) and 4Hz to 8Hz (Theta Range). These brain wave states are what we as adults experience when we sleep or are in a deep state of meditation or trance. You might remember how eagerly your little mind absorbed data, allowing you to learn a language and multiple skills rapidly and with ease. Nature designed our brains to be receptive sponges in our early years so we could soak up every morsel of data in our environment that we needed for our survival. We took everything in without the aid of discernment, a critical ability that doesn’t develop until we’re older. In these formative and highly receptive years, the amount of negative beliefs to which we were exposed is often staggering. When a three year old hears that they are a bad boy or a little girl of five is asked why she can’t be more like her sister, those statements become stored as thought patterns in an electromagnetic field in the subconscious mind. Because the adults in our young lives appear to us as Gods who only tell the truth, these statements that are usually made by an exhausted parent or frustrated teacher get imprinted in our mind and continue to play throughout our adult lives.

“The “secret” of life is BELIEF. Rather than genes, it is our beliefs that control our lives. PSYCH-K is a set of simple, self-empowering techniques to change your beliefs and perceptions that impact your life at a cellular level.” Bruce Lipton, PhD, Cellular Biologist, and author of the Biology of Belief.

Have you ever wondered why people who win the lottery often go broke within a couple of years? If you were to examine the contents of their subconscious mind, you’d likely find some version of “money is the root of all evil” or “you’ll never amount to anything” playing in the background. What about the person who drops out of college in their last semester or the executive who keeps blowing their chance for a promotion. How many New Years Resolutions have you failed to keep, no matter how much willpower you threw their way? As long at those negative thought patterns are held in the subconscious, your conscious intentions will be sabotaged. Consider the enormous capacity of the subconscious portion of your mind (it’s capable of processing 40 million bits of information per second) and compare it to that of your conscious mind that can handle only 40 bits per second. Unless you can recruit the support of your subconscious, the life you lead will reflect the inner conflict between these two levels of consciousness and the life you have always wanted to create will continue to be elusive.

How does PSYCH-K work?
“The missing link between good intentions and effective actions is the ability to align subconscious beliefs with conscious goals.” This statement, also by Rob Williams, represents the essence of PSYCH-K, a process that acts as a connective bridge between the levels of mind.

In 1988, Rob William was a therapist who was frustrated with the pace with which his clients improved. He had studied NLP (Neuro-Linguistic Programming, hypnosis, Educational Kinesiology, Touch for Health, Reiki, and an assortment of other contemporary and ancient healing modalities. His search exposed him to a vast ocean of knowledge and insight. It was out of this “primordial soup” that PSYCH-K was born.

PSYCH-K, an accelerated personal growth process, uses a blend of ancient wisdom that dates as far back as 5000 years with exciting new discoveries in cellular biology and quantum physics. While this might sound complicated, the techniques are very user friendly and are easy to learn and apply. First, communication between the levels of mind is set up through the use of energy testing. With a verifiable feedback loop established, the PSYCH-K process then uses whole brain integration methods to replace negative beliefs with those that are in line with our conscious goals. With the subconscious mind aligned behind our intentions, the obstacles to success quietly drop away and allow us to manifest our truth and highest purpose.

By reprogramming the negative thought patterns that have remained active and unchallenged in our mind/body system, it is indeed possible to have a functional childhood!

Author's Bio:

Marylou Smith opened her private practice as an Advanced Level PSYCH-K Facilitator in January of 2008. She received her training from Rob Williams, the originator of PSYCH-K, Bruce Lipton, Phd, a well known cellular biologist and Dhebi DeWitz-Jensen, an Advanced Certified PSYCH-K Instructor.

Life provided Marylou with an urgent wake-up call in 2005 when a serious health challenge combined with the life changing lessons of Hurricanes Katrina and Rita. This potent crisis launched an intensive search for answers to questions like:

- Why do healthy people get sick? What is the root cause of dis-ease?

- Who are we and why are we here?

- How do we live a life a meaning and purpose?

- What can we do to free ourselves from the bondage of our self-imposed limitations and move beyond mediocrity to a full expression of our gifts and potentials?

It was with these questions in mind that Marylou was first introduced to PSYCH-K(R). After reading Bruce Lipton's The Biology of Belief which presents compelling scientific evident supporting the process of PSYCH-K, she recognized the enormous potential this simple method contained. This inspired her to take the training and test PSYCH-K out in her own life. Results were immediate and impressive. Her lifetime allergy to cats disappeared after one simple balance and she began taking risks and actions that had not felt possible before. Previous barriers to accomplishing her goals fell away as she experienced a new freedom and inner strength.

A background in psychology, counseling and 12 Step Recovery work provides a rich tapestry of life experiences that support Marylou's PSYCH-K practice. Her work in business consulting, mediation, conflict resolution, group facilitation and education all add substance and depth to her work.

Marylou's approach is gentle, compassionate and focused. She provides an environment in which her clients access their own inner strength and innate wisdom, allowing them to powerfully move forward in the creation of a purposeful life.
