Toning the stomach would require you to perform a lot of training exercises, aside from stomach crunches. You should be able to combine different kinds of exercises that will target the different parts of your abdominals, while performing regular cardio exercises at the same time. And aside from doing these exercises, you must also go for a low calorie diet so you will be able to successfully get a toned stomach.

Step 1 - Burn as much calories as you can everyday in order to burn out all the excess calories that could be stored as fats in your tummy. And remember that a pound of fat is equal to 3,500 calories, which means that if you consume about one thousand calories in a day, in only four days time, you will be able to gain one pound of fats! You can accomplish this by doing regular exercises and practicing low calorie diet by lowering your daily calorie consumption.

Step 2 - Tone the lower abdominals in your body by performing an abdominal hold exercise. Position yourself at the edge of any chair and then brace your hands on the right edges of the chair, and make sure that your palms are away from your body. After that, slowly lift your toes for 2 inches off the ground and then hold it there for five counts, and repeat all over again.

Step 3 - When you exercise, try to target the side of your abdominal muscles. Do a squat twist exercise so as to tone your legs and the same time, target those abdominal muscles in your body. Perform this exercise by doing a squat position making sure that your knees will not extend past your toes, and then rotate the midsection going to the right direction and then return to starting position again.

Step 4 - Focus on working out your deep abdominal muscles, by getting into all fours and then allowing your core muscles to relax. Take a few deep breaths and then draw your core muscles in and then contract it for about 10 counts. And when you are done, it’s time that you relax your midsection and then repeat the exercise all over again.

Step 5 - Do not forget to also perform cardio sessions if you really want to get a toned stomach. This should last for 30 minutes or longer, and must be done for most days of the week. Try to alternate it with a higher intensity activity as well, by performing jumping rope for a few minutes.
