The mind is amazing. It is the most powerful super computer in the world and you get to control it… but only if you know how.

The problem is that most people don’t know how their mind works so they can’t even use it to their advantage. In most cases, the mind works against them feeding them thoughts of fear and poverty… telling them “you’re not good enough” or “you’re too stupid.” These thoughts ensure that you will be stopped before you even get out of the gates… or if you do get out of the gates, you will be stopped very quickly.

For example, if you thought you were too stupid to write a book, you would write the book. If you thought you were too old to start investing, you would never start investing. You would only do those things if your belief changed

Why does this happen?

There are two parts of the mind. The conscious, the thoughts you actively think about and the unconscious which controls the decisions that we don’t think about. For many years psychologists called it the subconscious mind because it was believed to be far less important than the conscious mind. But in recent studies on the psychology of success, psychologists have discovered that the unconscious mind has a profound effect on achievement.

The average person has 40,000 thoughts per day and 80% of them are unconscious. 32,000 thoughts that you had on autopilot. These thoughts controlled how you dealt with someone on the phone or what choice of food you made… 32,000 of them are moving you through life and if you can’t have your unconscious mind working for you, you will have a hard time progressing if it doesn’t support you.

So where do these thoughts come from?

Most of these thoughts come from your past programming. Between the ages of 2 and 8 when the brain emits a specific frequency called theta waves. This is when the mind is most impressionable. This is when the child is absorbing immense amounts of information so that it can operate based on that information in the future as adults using alpha and beta waves which is normal conscious thought.

Fortunately adults also access this state in two primary ways. The first is through imaginative thought and the other is right before falling asleep when you’re barely conscious. While in these states, you can do meditation and/or affirmations that will support you and begin to change the way you think about becoming successful.

4 Step Process to Reprogram Your Unconscious Mind

1. Get a sheet of paper and divided it into 4 columns labeled:

Negative belief – Opposite – Metaphor – Action

Fill in the first column with all of your negative beliefs or as many as you can think of.

2. Go through each negative belief and fill in the three other boxes.

Opposite is the quality that you want

Metaphor is an image which is extremely powerful for triggering the supportive quality that you want to cultivate. This could be anything you want.

An example would be: Weak – Strong – Ox

Action is a physical anchor that you will use to reinforce your new belief. It is important to change it both through imagery and through action to create a network of images/events that will reinforce your belief.

An example would be “Working out 4 times per week”

3. This is the step that will set you free. Rip off the first column, look at each negative belief and burn it.

There is a powerful psychological reason for burning. It symbolizes the destruction of that negative belief.

4. Read each aloud each morning when you first wake up.

“I am as strong as an ox as I work out 4 times per week.”

Read it with emotion. This will plant the seeds for your mind for the day and you will begin to live into the qualities that you want to have and taking the actions you want to take.

And after you’ve done this 3 or 4 times, you will start noticing an improvement in your life
