The way you handle things is the way you are going to get what you deserve. If you had paid for your watch for a lot of money, then you might as well learn how to care about it too. Thus, it is very much necessary for you to learn more about watch care, so you are able to improve yourself. By practicing it more often, you would be able to do it by yourself so that you can actually make sure that your watch is going to last longer than its normal time span. In the process, you should be able to enjoy it fully and pass it to the next generation and keep it as an heirloom as well. Here are some of the things you can do that are simple enough for you to take care of your watch.

Clean as often as possible

One of the most important things to do is that you should really clean your watch as much as you possibly can. This means to say that you should be able to take a soft cloth and then just wipe down any grime or dirt that might have stuck on it. You can also soak your watch in soap and water to loosen some of the dirt but of course, you have to do that with utmost care as water should not get into the watch itself.

Service regularly

You should make sure that if you get your watch to a watch service centre in a regular manner to be able to keep it in tiptop shape. This would mean that you should get it done about two or three times per year as well. This is a good thing to do so that you would be able to get more years out of your watch when it comes down to it.

Avoid magnets

As much as possible, it would be good if you can avoid getting your watch near any magnets or any magnetic items so that you would not have to worry about the negative effects that the magnet might bring to your watch as well.

Know your watch

It would be good to know more about your watch as well in a sense that you would know if it is resistant to anything and if it is possible that it is waterproof since that would make things much easier for you in terms of cleaning it and such.

Keep it boxed

In the case that you wear it all the time, you might want to make sure to keep it in a box before you go to sleep so that it would be as safe as possible in the long run. Accidents can happen as you sleep and this is a good way to be able to avoid that. Do note that the box should be placed in a safe space as well. This would help remove some of the anxiety you may be feeling about the watch and its safety at the same time as well.
