Recently I’ve been offering free workshops to switch on your passion. As I’ve taught the basics over and over, I realized that there are only three steps to (at least) get you moving in the direction of your passionate life. Are you ready? Let’s go; it’s as easy as 1-2-3!
1. The issue: Be in the Now. Most of us live about 80% in the past, stirring up painful memories and assuming they will continue and/or in the future, with fear and anxiety that our lives will not work out well. In fact, your only choice point is in the Now – that’s the only time-frame that allows you to talk and listen to God (the larger intelligence of which we are each a part). With our limited human time-sense, we cannot change what’s already happened in the past, nor what will happen in the future. Usually whatever’s bothering you in not happening right now, so why are you visiting it? Stop that!
Quick fix: How can you get back into the Now? There is a Geotran technique for that, and it’s very simple: put one hand on top of your head, and hold for about twelve seconds. Remove that hand and put the other on top of your head; hold for 12-15 seconds. That’s it! You are in the Now – so stay there!
2. The issue: Make sure you are 100% YOU. Most of us rub up against other people without any idea of how easy it is to pick up the human equivalent of computer viruses. It’s not that the other person is good or bad; usually they are just attempting to deal with their own issues, but don’t know how or don’t have the capacity. So they borrow yours, just like piggy-backing on your wireless connection. This makes your inner computer system go slow, run programs you don’t want to run, or even crash. Attempting to fix someone else’s issue is like doing your kid’s homework: it takes up your time and energy, and the child doesn’t learn anything because you have the file. Your inner bio-computers are only meant to process your programs, period.
Quick fix: How many people do you have on you? Find out how many and who they are, then throw each one out! It’s important to use physical throwing motions as well as sound effects. The right brain only responds to actions and images; the left brain only responds to words and sounds. Do both together to integrate the whole brain. So listen with your inner ears, find out who is on you, and pretend each one is a basketball. Throw that ball out the nearest window, while saying “Wheeeee-splat!” Keep throwing people out until you are 100% you again.
3. The issue: Get your passion up and running again. We each have a divine blueprint that tells us what we are designed to be, do and have. Our passions – meaning strong positive feelings – are that inner guidance system saying “this way, this way” or “no, not that one!” That divine blueprint wants you to do what you enjoy and have a talent for, and it operates through your passions.
Quick fix: What do you love to do or experience? That is the key. Many of us are so blocked that we barely know what we like any more, much less the passions are the core of our being. The good news is that (as with anything else) you can start with baby steps. Just think of ten things you enjoy. It doesn’t matter if they are large or small. Write down the ten things you really, really like to do. Then take out your calendar or daybook, and make time three times per week to do something – anything – from that list.
So there you go: be in the Now, make sure you are you, and lean into what you enjoy the most. Whatever you focus on will expand in your life, so make room for what you enjoy and it will get stronger… and lead you step by step into a life that is more engaged and passionate than you can imagine.
