Have you found yourself irritable, overwhelmed, or unable to sleep? If so, its time to ask yourself, ‘Are you stressed out?’ Professionals in the Millennial Generation, ages 20-34, are dealing with the highest levels of stress, which can lead to burnout and other negative side effects. According to the 2013 Stress in America ™ Survey, “39% of Millennials say their stress has increased in the last year.” That is higher than reports from the Traditionalists, Baby Boomers, and Gen-X generations! Millennials tend to feel intense pressure regarding career choices and with their personal finances.

What have you done to decrease your stress levels? Do you exercise, listen to music, or talk to a friend? Perhaps you read a book or go for a walk. When coaching is provided to young professionals, it can help decrease levels of stress, improve productivity, and help maintain work-life balance. What would your life be like with less stress and more fun? Find out the 3 secrets to reducing stress and LOVING your life again!

Be Present at Work- If your job is the main source of stress, you are not alone! “Work is a somewhat or significant stressor for 76 percent of Millennials…” When I work with clients one-on-one, we get to the root of any issues they have with their job and focus on finding their ideal career. This usually starts with concentrating on being present at work. Taking a job one day at a time while considering what you are learning can help you prepare for the next opportunity.

Stay well rested- Did you know that, “More than 52 percent of Millennials report having lain awake at night in the past month due to stress”??? This is considerably more than those in other generations. Getting enough sleep and being rested is vital if you want to reach your optimal performance level and feel your best. What is your sleeping environment like? If you are within arm’s reach of your cell phone, tablet, or laptop, I challenge you to change that for one week! Just see what happens. Clearing your mind of distractions and possible interruptions could help you sleep better.

Be a friend first- Most people understand the importance of giving. Are you being a good friend or family member to others, before you expect anything back? “44 percent of both Millennials and Gen Xers report experiencing irritability or anger due to stress.” If improving your relationships with others is something you are interested in, ask yourself ‘How am I showing up?’ If you are irritable or angry others have probably noticed. Remember that you have a choice of what you experience at all times.

Stress is something that we all experience. Are you going to let outside circumstances affect your career, relationships, and your health? Working with a coach can help young professionals manage stress and create a life they LOVE! What is one thing that you can do right now to decrease your stress? I’d love to hear about it!
