Interview with Najaam Lee
I have been in the fashion and entertainment industry since the age of 10. I have experienced different forms of art, such as dance, drawing, stage performances, acting, modeling, music, choreography and directing. I attended F.I.T.( Fashion Institute of Technology) for their Merchandising Program, and recieved my certificate in Fashion Merchandising; I attended F.I.D.M( Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising. Los Angeles) for Fashion Design & Art Illustration, and El Camino College for the Art Program, recieveing my BA in Fashion Design and Art. I learned and gained many skills in designing and styling fashion, the history and art of fashion. Plus, being in the business I used what I learned to style myself and others for auditions, shoots and performances. Although I have these skills, my confidence and low self esteem got the best of me. I desired to figure out why and change it. This pivotal point took place when I attended a major awards show, and confusion set in, fear grabbed a hold of me, not knowing what to wear, not happy at what was chosen to wear, or how I looked. I felt like I just didn't belong, and having that emotion just grew from there.
This was a serious awakening for me that things were not aligned, and I wanted to stop feeling this way. I made a committment to myself to take action, and truly learn plus understand all I can about Self Image, Public Persona, Developing the Image- including Ayurveda, mind-body-spirit connection, and visual presentation. I studied Ayurveda and Aromatherapy at a Vedic college and recieved my degree as a practitioner of ayureveda, and licensed consultant .
So, in 2004, I opened my first ayurvedic healing practice, and found that many of my clients who successfully rebalanced their health and lifestyle, were asking me to style their new look. So I really searched to find out how they could do this, and found there wasn't one book or one place that combined both successfully.
A light bulb went on inside me and after figuring everything out, I created a systematic process of veda with image, and began implementing it into my own life, and was so happy with the results I achieved; friends, family and my clients took notice and wanted to know how they too could achieve this signature look and style . In 2006, Vedic Image Group was born.
