Would you be ok if you found out someone called you a skinny bitch behind your back?
We’ve heard these phrases all of our lives: “Persistence pays off”, “If at first you don’t succeed, try, try again”, and “Success comes the day after you give up.” But are they really true? If you’re feeling tired, despondent and burned out, you may wonder just how long you have to persist before you achieve success. I used to tell my students that if you keep hitting your head against a stone wall, something’s bound to give. I wouldn’t count on it being the stone wall. Here are some guidelines for engaging in what I call “enlightened persistence.”

A big part of releasing clutter this month in your business is keeping only what you absolutely love, use and need. The only way to do that is to take inventory of every area of your business including your team and how you work together. Your team can be either formal, informal, or a combination of both. It may include your lawyer, financial advisor, business coach, virtual assistant, as well as family members and colleagues that you can share an idea with and get immediate feedback. Whether formal or informal it is important that your team includes YOU.
The Origins of Comfort Eating and what to do about it Often our emotional state is reflected in our eating behaviors. It feels like there is an umbilical cord between how we feel and how we eat. It doesn’t have to be that way. We can learn to sever the umbilical cord between our emotions and what we put into our mouths. Reaching for food when life is hard is something many of us are familiar with. We were trained to do that.

As I'm writing this afte oon, I'm half-reading Tennyson's "Ulysses," half-watching the New Orleans Saints play the San Diego Chargers at Wembley (on tv!) , and wholly reflecting on what to write to my lovely past, present, and future coaching clients that will inspire them amidst the daily gloom and barrage of economic news and headlines.
One of the questions I’m frequently asked by women entrepreneurs is, “When I meet someone who is a potential referral source and/or ideal client, how do I mention my business without feeling pushy?” Great question! A common theme arises when I talk to people…. “I never get what I want!” When I put the question to them… “Did you ask for what you wanted”, I get strange looks, and even stranger answers. Anger is a normal emotion like any other emotion. Human beings are hard wired to experience anger as a means to preserve ourselves. Instinctively anger inspires one to fight, to defend or to take cover as it alerts one to a perceived threat. In this view, we can see how important anger can be in terms of our physical safety and overall security. Anger outside the realm of its primary purpose, increases the likeliness of one to loose control and jeopardizes the safety and security that it is intended to protect.

Regardless of what their goals are, they will be more difficult to achieve if the client isn’t focused and hasn’t prioritized the steps they need to take.

PEOPLE PLEASIN’ TIME OF THE YEAR I don't know the key to success, but the key to failure is trying to please everybody.--Bill Cosby I am so blessed to have the space I do to work in. The view reflects the positive state I’m in a majority of the time, and I am ete ally grateful for the changes in my life that allow me to see the beauty all around me.r
Listening is usually identified as a positive personality trait. It can be seen as a virtue and a sign of generosity and wisdom, which may place listeners at high regard in front of other people. Therefore, many individuals may not hesitate to say they are good listeners, but may do so when confessing they are good talkers.
It's that time of year again... That time of year when we take time out, time away, time to enjoy nature and all of the beauty around us and within us. Whether we spend summer in the city or in Tuscany, we experience time differently. The summer gives us an inner summer experience of immersing ourselves in the happiness of now.
If you think that you work better and are more productive when you do things under a looming deadline, you’re probably mistaken. The truth is that you just feel more satisfied with the fact that you accomplished your tasks even with the time almost running out. Did you know that by getting rid of your procrastination habits, you can be more productive, effective and less stressed out? Yes it is easier said than done, but the fact remains that it is very much doable.
We can do anything and everything just to impress others, can’t we? Showing off the expensive things we’re using or even the successful career we have could be the best way to leave a mark…or maybe not. Honestly, there isn’t anything wrong with wanting to be impressive, but it’s always how we do it that makes us desirable or not. Thus, it’s important that you be very careful in choosing the means by which you’re going to impress people around you. If you want to impress others in a dignified way, here’s what you should and should not do:
If I told you to go out and try something new and mess it up, could you? When I first heard that suggestion, I cringed. I grew up as a perfectionist, and messing something up did not fit into my view of the world. When we want to make changes in our lives, we need to try new things. Trying new things means that we might mess it up as we figure it out. Going into business for myself, I have been slowly learning how to do something and mess it up. I will be honest with you: some days it's hard to stomach.
If you are running your own business and are wondering if you are doing well at it, you should go figure out if you were born to be an entrepreneur or not. If it turns out that you don’t have what it takes to be a successful businessman, there’s no reason to feel miserable. It wouldn't even mean that you don’t have the potential to succeed in owning a business. You can easily think of it as a sign that you should instead let your talents be used by a good employer.
In our excitement to stick to our resolutions and reach the goals we set for the year, we can sometimes become overwhelmed with trying to fulfill them all at once. This can lead to postponing our dreams and not being able to help to create positive change in the lives of those we love and serve. To help you keep or enhance your momentum towards this year goals without shifting into overwhelm, here are 3 things that you can easily do to avoid mental congestion. 1. Write your one-year vision If you haven’t already, write your 1 year vision.
Many of us are talented, driven, highly functional, and just very good at what they do. Yet, it is still not uncommon for some of these people to decide to move away from their jobs despite really enjoying many aspects of their careers. The main reason is that they feel that some of the things they do in their jobs don’t fit what they are planning to do in the future. In this case, you would wonder if changing careers is a smart decision to make.
I am sure that you know breathing is necessary in order to sustain life, but do you know how to breathe in order to sustain a healthier life? Many of us take shallow breaths that begin and end in our chest. When stressed, the breathing becomes even more shallow and at times we even "forget to breathe" and find ourselves holding our breath. This speeds the heart rate and causes us to cheat our body of much needed oxygen, which in turn negatively effects our entire body. Just as breathing is necessary to live, breathing properly is necessary to live well.
The other day, while standing in a very long line at my local coffee shop, I struck up a conversation with the woman behind me. We began chatting about everyday topics-the weather, the holiday rush, and then we stumbled on that dreaded topic of the moment-the economy. I asked her a question: "What do you think would be the most important thing you could have in your life right now to support where you are, given the economy?" She was a little surprised by this question, but her reply was very telling.

George Soros The Miss Universe pageant almost took place without many people caring about the outcome. If not for the mistake made by Steve Harvey, the event would not have caused a ripple in social media. Yet, so many people who didn’t even watch the event for years became emotionally attached to the results. We don’t remember who th
I very clearly remember a moment in October of 2009 when I was on the verge of giving up on my dream. I was stuck in a place I had been stuck in many times before and I couldn’t see a way through it this time. I was holding on to the end of the rope and wondering if it would be easier to just let go.
As the economy begins to recover, slowly, but surely hiring rates are picking-up, and companies are beginning to develop new tactics to attract potential employees. Many companies have taken a cue from modern and colorful workplaces, such as Google and Pixar, in order to utilize the work space itself as recruiter. While few companies have the resources to match the Googleplex, which houses giant rubber balls to bounce on, a life size dinosaur skeleton, beach volleyball courts
