Are you an avid reader of self help or self improvement books? Because many people that I know are constantly reading, constantly learning, constantly searching, constantly gaining a deeper understanding of what it takes to change your life. Unfortunately, however, it is not reading that changes your life, but doing – and far too many people are content with the feel good factor that self help books often give you, whilst nothing concrete actually changes for the better in their lives.

What does your FACE say about you? Are you wearing a face of success? Facial expressions are a part of everyday living that send vital messages to those around us. As a physician who treats many patients who are in pain, I can readily tell how patients feel by looking at their faces. Certainly, when people are in pain, their facial expressions depict how they feel. Literally, their face lets me know that they hurt. Their faces show grimaces, frowns and sometimes women do not
Winners Give Up Trying To Get Everybody To Like Them. Are you the type of person that everybody likes? Are you the one that always looks for ways to please your co-workers, friends, bosses or mates? But secretly complains and laments the “concessions” you have made when you get just out of earshot? Are you the manager, the parent, the friend that everybody loves but don’t challenge your people to be the best they can be? The one who doesn’t rock the boat too much? Maybe doesn’t speak up for themselves?
In order to give insight and value to this article let's define those two words first. Proactive; Acting in advance to deal with an expected change or difficulty . And then Reactive is; Tending to be responsive or to react to a stimulus. Why do I ask which one serves us best? Because how we react to issues and challenges in our lives dictates not only our outcome, but our future as well.
It's a noisy, confusing, fast and furious world out there. You're expected to do more in less time. You've got to be a master multi-tasker just to survive! You're working on a project and still you've got to keep up on incoming calls and email. You've got your cell phone in one ear, desk phone in the other and your Tweet Deck is beeping at you every 5 seconds. How do you sort it all out and on task at hand with alarms ringing, deadlines looming, kids screaming and bosses bossing?
Unfortunately, most people look at life through dark glasses and, consequently, everything looks gloomier than it should. This is normal because the normal mind is hard-wired to look at reality by filtering it through our conditioning and, in doing so, it is more likely than not that the mind will focus on negative rather than positive conditioning. This mental frailty is what is keeping your life on hold.
Are you “content” with what you have? Do you feel grateful for all the good things in your life right now? Do you want nothing more than what you have - or are - today? Or, are you frustrated, or even “unhappy”, because you want (or even feel you need) more? Some people believe the only way ...
So how do we go about using the Law of Attraction in our lives? This is where I believe ‘Cosmic Ordering’ comes in. The Law of Attraction is the theory; ‘Cosmic Ordering’ is the practise.
The purpose of life is to be happy – so says the Dalai Lama. Jesus Christ said something similar when he said that he came so that ‘you might have life and have it to the full’. Unfortunately, however, having worked in the field of personal development for more than fourteen years, I have come to the conclusion that most people aren’t really quite sure what happiness actually means. And, perhaps, happiness has been confused with self gratification or pleasure. So what does happiness actually mean?
How did you start your day today? When you leaped – or dragged yourself – out of bed, were you ready and alert for all the wonderful opportunities that today will offer, or did you slouch, on automatic pilot, to the bathroom in the normal early morning daze. If, of course, you were awoken by an alarm clock, then your day started off on the wrong foot right from the word go, because your subconscious mind wasn’t ready to wake up. Bearing in mind that your subconscious mind runs your daily life, an unprepared subconscious means you’re completely unprepared for the day ahead – like a
Have you ever wondered why some people get all the breaks and always seem to be in the right place at the right time? Have you ever thought that it should have been you? Do you think you are missing out on opportunities and not living the life you should be? Every day opportunities are ...
Over the course of my career as an etiquette and image coach, I have had the privilege of working with some very high profile and influential people. But nothing gives me more joy than to find ways to give back and teach our young people using the same skills and techniques. You are never too young to practice etiquette. If you are a parent, a teacher, friend, relative of a young person or even a student looking for ways to prepare for working/living in the “real” world, knowing proper etiquette can open doors-even at any age.
Before I get started, it's important that you understand the meaning of self help, self improvement and personal development. Self help is basically any form of information, or tools that helps an individual to help themselves. Answer this quick question... âFor as a man thinks in his heart, so is he.â Thatâs a verse from The Bible located in the book of âProverbs 23 : 7â. Each personâs own output in life is a product of his or her own thoughts! What type of thoughts do you harbor about yourself? The level of intelligence you emit â is deeply linked with the discovery of who you really are. To a great extent â the level of awareness you have about yourself will determine how well you fare in life. Esau, one of th

I once worked with another manager I avoided whenever I could. She complained a lot and constantly blamed someone on her team when something went wrong. She seemed incapable of taking personal responsibility for any situation. Since she was a colleague, I felt comfortable pointing out that she had choices. But when I did muster up my courage and confront her, the response was typically something like, "Don't look at me. It's not MY fault." She did not want to be accountable for her actions.
The power of the mind to influence the body is quite remarkable. Imagery can be helpful in 90 percent of the problems that people bring to their doctors or counselors. Images are the most fundamental language we have. Everything you do, the mind processes through images. When we recall events from our past, it is hardly ever through words. Images may not be limited to visual. We can include sounds, tastes, smells or a combination of those sensations.
Everyone experiences self-doubt at some point in our lives. For many people, self-doubt can be pervasive, even crippling. It can impact your relationships. It destroys confidence. It causes procrastination or lack of effort. It can be extremely frustrating to live with the reverberating voice in ...
Death. No one wants to talk about it and yet none of us will escape it. When it happens to someone we know, most people don’t know how to handle it. And it’s because people are uncomfortable about it and it’s so final that people fear the most. In fact, there’s only one thing that tops death on ...
Henry David Thoreau said, “It is not enough to be busy. The question is what are you busy about.” Time management is about taking the finite amount of time we are given, and using it in the most productive way possible. We all have the same 24 hours in a day to accomplish our goals. Our life is a created out of what we choose to focus that time on, and what we give priority to. Those who master the concept of time management find they can accomplish more than they ever thought possible.
It was Henry David Thoreau in the 1800s—the transcendental era of literature, if you're a literature major—who wrote in Walden: "The mass of men live lives of quiet desperation." Of course if he were writing today, he'd say, "The mass of people or persons live lives of quiet desperation." And it was Socrates, who lived in the fourth and fifth centuries B.C., who said, "The unexamined life is not worth living." Our theme today conce s both of these. Not much has changed in all the years that have gone by since. So here's what we find.
Can you imagine a world without addiction, obesity and disease? If so, you may also wonder why, with our advanced medical systems, we are unable to improve the relative number of people suffering from these conditions. In this short article, I will overview what may be the world’s simplest, ...
Graphology Handwriting Analysis of President Barack Obama Byr Joel Engel President Barack Obama’s huge signature is eye-catching. Graphologically speaking, this reflects a tremendous desire to be the center of attention. The rightward extensions at the end of his first and last names (A1, A2) are like a self-portrait showing that there is more to him than just a name. A small middle zone (B1, B2) in his John Hancock represents strong powers of concentration. People who have
Your mental focus is your strongest weapon when it comes to using your mind to it's fullest potential. The way we direct our focus determines what we achieve at this moment and eventually in our lifetime. The Law of Attraction says what we focus on grows in our life. That's the reason why it is so important to master how we use our mental focus. The 2 Aspects of Focussing Your Mind: The first is not yet how to focus your mind but rather the decision on what you focus in the first place.
I always believe that public speaking is a learnable skill. As my mentor suggests, it is not sufficient for someone to learn this skill solely by reading books and/or attending courses. He must continue practising the skill. In my case, even though I have been a trainer for more than 10 years, I am still doing my own reflection after each training session in order to identify the possible areas for improvement. In this article, I would like to discuss a situation that is common in almost every training session.
If you’ve read my bio, you know that in May of 1995, I suddenly became a single father over night. The tragedy left me in a space that I had never experienced before. I was both in shock and terror. At the same time, I knew what I had to do and by the grace of God I found the courage I needed each and every day. The tragedy humbled me beyond years. I found myself asking God to shine down on me and grant me the hope and courage that I needed to carry on. Over time, I wavered back and forth between my responsibilities as a single father, as well as a grieving husband.
Is there anything you really wanted to change about your life. Any old habit you wanted to break or any new habit you want to develop? Think of how much richer your life could be if you developed new more fulfilling habits. Maybe you want to quit smoking, learn a new language, meditate everyday, exercise everyday or you have other such personal development goals that you never quite got around to attempting, let alone achieving. If this is the case then why not take up the th
How do you achieve lasting peace of mind? Well, the answer is in both the question and the title of this article. You find it within, in your mind, where else would you expect to find it! It doesn’t matter what is going on around you, what is happening in your life or who is doing what to you. It has nothing to do with whether or not you think you’ve sufficient income or a secure job. It is entirely down to what is going on in your mind – and therein lies the problem because the normal mind is full of crap.
So much is taken for granted because too often we forget just how fortunate we are to be alive, healthy, in varying degrees, and loved, no matter where our homes happen to be in the world. The weak global economy, perhaps with the exception of China, Russia, and India, offers us an opportunity to reevaluate the things that are important and to improve our lives as well as the lives of those with whom we come into frequent contact. Now is an excellent time to become more focused on relationships, personal development and spirituality, all of which are important for success. The following
Do you wonder why it is important to cultivate a good attitude about money? Money is filled with the intelligence of the universe from which it is created. Money reacts to your attitude about it. You attract what you appreciate and money responds accordingly. If you think favorably about money, you multiply and increase it, however if you criticize and condemn it in any way, either your own money or another’s, you dissipate it and repel it from you.
No doubt you have heard the old saying that no one, on their deathbed, would ever say that they wished that they'd spend more time in the office! Well, given the mass hysteria that is the fear and panic that has been gripping world economies over the last few months, some don't even have the option of spending more time in that office anymore! I don't say that lightly, it's just a fact of the times in which we live - but a fact created by collective state of mind. For those of us who live in these times, there is an extraordinary onus on us to stay (or become) calm.
There are many aspects one can learn in public speaking. In the past, I have discussed the importance of word choice, the use of flip charts instead of PowerPoint, how to overcome fear and exhibit confidence in public speaking. In this article, I would like to share with you something I have learnt recently about the pitch and voice control.
Anyone who has ever rented property has probably had to deal with neighbors on some level and the most common complaint amongst residents is dealing with noisy neighbors. We can all relate to having the family of four upstairs whose children seem to run marathons right above you, the drummer down below that only practices after 10 PM, or the habitual snorer who you share a bedroom wall with. Whatever the case, there are a lot of different ways to handle the situation.nnTry th
Is your wardrobe is holding you back? Have you taken the time to develop a personal style – one that reflects you? Keller’s Rules to Dress By: 1. Express your individuality. Remember, you are your brand. By being true to yourself you will be authentic. If you are warm, open, accessible dressing like a femme fatale won’t cut it. You’ll look silly and people will notice the disconnect immediately. First impression: She’s phony. 2. Know what you are selling. If you need to co
The complex issues of feminity and masculinity play a key role in the development of every gay man. Why are gay men ridiculed in our society? Essentially they are criticized for expressing traits that are considered “feminine”. From an early age they learn that the way they walk or move, the way they cross their legs, the sound of their voice, or their personal interests do not match what is expected of men in this culture. The process of unlea ing these cultural “rules” of

Life can be challenging. Oprah Winfrey allowed us different “lenses” in which to examine this challenging life through. We are appreciative of this on many levels. Her entrée to the entertainment industry allowed several barriers to be removed and Oprah has continued to remove the darkness around life’s issues by shining sunlight into parts of our lived experience which has been courageous and enlightening.
Self Esteem The level of self esteem that we take away from our early childhood influences will have a major impact on how much confidence we have or don't have in ourselves. But the impact those influences have on us are not set in stone, since they are set up as thought and behavior patterns that have become habitual and over time have also become unconscious and automatic behaviors, then we have the power and the tools to change them if necessary.

It’s about YOU, and learning how to define a healthy relationship based on your desires and needs. It’s about attracting people and situations that are fulfilling to your spirit, and recognizing that you have unlimited options.
Being "Bond cool" is not about cigarettes, drinking, bikini girls, weapons, gadgets, or cars. It takes inner work, and expressing your individuallity. When James Bond is under pressure he doesn't fold. He focuses. He can call up his talent at will when dismantling a ticking bomb or when ...

Are you able to say no when you don't want to participate in something you've been asked to consider? Your ability to speak up for yourself, and to say no are directly related to your ability to set boundaries. In this lesson, I'd like to explore what a boundary is, and identify where you may need to set and enforce boundaries in your life. Boundaries

We would all like to be more effective – to get the really important stuff done effortlessly, to simply do the things that we don’t like doing or want to do without any distraction, to get much more done to the very best of our ability in far less time and have plenty more time to do all the things that we keep promising ourselves that we will do – spend much more time doing the things that we really and truly enjoy. There you have it – my definition of personal effectiveness. How far removed is that from your ordinary daily life?
Everything starts with attitude. Everything! I don’t drink the “positive thinking” cool-aid; there’s no achievement without action. However, only positive attitude produces positive action. I’ve heard some teachers say that all you need to create success is the right mental attitude. I’ve ...

I caught the papers traveling in the UK recently, and oh, God rest his soul, a banker/businessman, Hywel Jones, from North Wales was shot in the Bahamas. He was working in the Bahamas—that's where his office is—and was shot two times at close range when he came to work at 9:30 a.m. The article called it an “ambush”, and also referred to the method as “execution-style”. Someone stepped out of the shadows while he was getting out of his car, and pow-pow!
