"I am a spiritual being having a human experience" - Is this your belief? My urgent request to all my friends who know and believe the above statement is to make your energy management your utmost priority. Why? Because we know the following facts: I, the spirit am energy. Thoughts are energy. Everything is energy. I am using my energy in creating the thoughts. The negative thoughts deplete the energy while positive thoughts add to that energy. We have to first recognize the

I've always liked lizards. Growing up in the outskirts of Los Angeles, I played in the foothills near our home. Sometimes I'd catch a lizard and stroke its belly, so it would relax in my hands, seeming to feel at ease.
The traditional saying that's this week's practice has been sinking in for me lately. Thoughts have been swirling around like a sandstorm about work, things I've been reading, household tasks, finances, conce s about people, a yard that needs mowing, loose ends, projects, etc. etc. The other day I told my wife: "I'm thinking about too many things." Know the feeling?
Throughout history, people have wondered about human nature. Deep down, are we basically good or bad?
Many of my readers write to me about the tensions of everyday life. Not only do people wonder how to relax, but people often ask, "How do I learn to better cope with what faces me? Can THE ENCHANTED SELF help with the overwhelming frenzy of everyday life? Can it help when I am really down or ...

Gravity and entropy are powerful processes in the natural world. Gravity draws things together, toward a center, while entropy scatters them into disorder. In much the same way, in our own lives, some things bring us to center, while others disturb and disperse us. In terms of centering, be aware of your whole body as you take a long slow breath, or think of something you're glad about. You'll probably feel more at home in yourself, more drawn into your own core rather than feeling like Garfield the cartoon cat, spreadeagled up against a pane of glass.
Most of us seem to operate our lives from the perspective of lack and limitation. We view life as restrictive and believe that somehow there is not enough money, love or health to go around. If “I have more” we reason, then naturally someone else has to have less. We believe that the world’s resources are limited and we can’t have it all. Sometimes, despite our greatest efforts and yes, prayers, the Universe might not seem so abundant or generous or miraculous.
It's a great time of year to think about the pleasures and happiness of a vacation. They are real and can help us build the strength to overcome adversities the rest of the year. A good vacation can fill us with a sense that we are living a life worth living. Also, the pleasures of positive ...
“What is right about you?” is a basic resiliency strengthening question. What is it you believe about you? Do you believe that you are basically lovable and capable? Do you believe that on the whole you do the best you can with the resources available to you? What do you believe about your partner, your children, your co-workers and your friends? Take a look at these questions and your decisions from a holistic perspective: What do you do for your PHYSICAL well-being? Do you: • Keep safe? • Wear a seat belt? • Drive within the speed limit?r
“Never lose an opportunity of seeing anything beautiful, for beauty is God's handwriting.” Ralph Waldo Emerson Everything in the world is beautiful because they are created by God. From aromatic flowers to mysterious mountains, from sunset to sunrise, from still lake to Wild Ocean, from animals to human beings, everything is beautiful. It is just that we need eyes to see it and heart to appreciate it.
Did you ever have so much to do that you didn’t know where to begin? So you just stared at what appeared to be a mountain before you, and you felt totally overwhelmed. Trying to take on too much at once can make you feel like you can’t handle any of it. It causes anxiety, distress and ...
For many of us, perhaps the hardest thing of all is to believe that "I am a good person." We can climb mountains, work hard, acquire many skills, act ethically - but truly feel that one is good deep down? Nah!
All good counselors and therapists learn early on, possibly the most valuable skill they can develop, is to meet their clients where they are. Active listening skills are necessary in order to effectively communicate with everybody, but none more so, than with teenagers.
I am remembering and have a desire to share with you, a beautiful story told to me by a young lady. It was the end of the World War II and her dad was returning home. He came from a very close network of Italian families that lived near each other in New Jersey. n He had a ride back from where ...
As a rock climber and a parent, I know some physical kinds of clinging are good - like to small holds or small hands!
First, it has two distinct meanings: * To give up resentment or anger * To pardon an offense; to stop seeking punishment or recompense Here, I am going to focus on the first meaning, which is broad enough to include situations where you have not let someone off the hook morally or legally, but you still want to come to peace about whatever happened. Finding forgiveness can walk hand in hand with pursuing justice.
Believe it or not, we live in a very orderly society. We have easy to use labels for gender, race, religion and political affiliation. We have labels that identify what country we live in and titles at the end of our names to highlight our educational levels. We like order and we understand the visual cues that help us answer basic questions like what gender someone is. But if weâve learned as gender identity continues to evolve in our culture, is that things are not always
Someday you will own your own company, build a fortune in real estate, or head up a major corporation. On that day you will have the luxury of surrounding yourself with people who support you and share your dream. That is someday, but what about today? Chances are that you are working in a job alongside people who have no interest in supporting your dream. They might even be acting in ways that sabotage it.nnMaybe you have an authoritarian boss who gives contradictory directi
Many years ago, I read a book that spoke about how we need to provide ourselves with self-check ups. It was a strange idea, I thought, because I’m with myself all the time, what on earth do I need to check in about? But I am sure that we can all relate to ‘catching’ ourselves doing certain things – when a moment of sanity hits us smack in the head – and we realize something is going on with us that we had absolutely no conscious awareness of at all.
Spring is the perfect time to reflect on the Divine in all of Creation This morning as I watched the spring sun stream through my kitchen window I felt a surge of newness, a sense of being reawakened after a long winter slumber. Breathing a prayer of thanksgiving for the new beginnings that are taking place in nature caused me to reflect on how the changing seasons mirror the changes in my life, and the need to once again celebrate the teachings and practices that consecrate

Projected Ages of Centenarians: How many people living in the United States are 100 years of age or more? 10,000? 25,000? 50,000? Well, if you agreed with any of these numbers you still would be way too low. More than 84,000 people living in the United States have reached the mark of centenarian (100-years-old).
When I was being trained to drive for the police service - I learned a new method of driving safely - regardless of the situation. Instead of focusing heavily on the vehicles around me - I was taught to 'look for the empty spaces'. This forced me to look for escape opportunities in case an emergency presented itself - or another driver made a move that jeopardized my safety. This was a bit foreign to begin with - because it is much more natural to focus on what is going on ar
"Tell the truth." It's the foundation of science, ethics, and relationships. But we have a brain that evolved to tell lies to help us survive. As I've written before, over several hundred million years our ancestors:
“Every day may not be good, but there's something good in every day”. “Think positive and everything will be fine” This is the most given and the best advice ever told to us. Do you really believe that it works? Why do people tell us to think positively? What difference does it make to our life or our problems? Just hang on there and i will answer your questions. Positive thinking is not a hypothetical concept but it is a proven science. Study has shown that positive attitude impacts all the aspects of your life. The logic is simple. Thought comes before action.r
Fighting a legal battle is challenging. Often, it can be very difficult to stay strong and positive both in and out of court. To arm yourself for the conflict, prepare mentally in advance to mount an effective defense for the best chance of success. Organize the factsrnSometimes a criminal charge can seem overwhelming. You might be accused of things you aren't guilty of, and the situation can be blown out of proportion. Prepare a brief overview or summary of the facts. Using
Stress is an undeniable part of our lives, so the more we understand what our individual stressors are, the more we can build a system to create control over them. At times, there will be stressors that we simply cannot control. Therefore, we need to create systems such as fitness, meditation and the power of acceptance, to make peace with those things that are beyond our power to change. It’s our response to a situation – more than the situation itself – that can make all t
Painful experiences range from subtle discomfort to extreme anguish - and there is a place for them. Sorrow can open the heart, anger can highlight injustices, fear can alert you to real threats, and remorse can help you take the high road next time.
I’ve been doing some more work with emotional awareness and mindfulness. This is quickly becoming something that has a firm grasp on my interest and focus. And one of the things that I am zeroing in on is the difference between : • Thinking about feelings • Feeling the feelings Historically, I am hugely analytic. Ask anyone who knows me. They will confirm that at some point or another, I have undoubtedly made them a bit crazy with my tendency to analyze and over-analyze anything and everything.
There are always things that are getting worse. For example, over the past year, you probably know someone who has become unemployed or ill or both, and there's more carbon in the atmosphere inexorably heating up the planet.
The other day I was relaxing at the local pool when I witnessed a really special event that unfolded in front of me. A young man was sitting in the hot tub with his 5 year old son. It was obvious they had a really special relationship as they chatted in the warm water. While they chatted, the son said that he wanted to go down the water slide. A young lady who was a life guard overheard the conversation and told the boy that the slide would be open in about ten minutes. The boy appreciated what the life guard said but had a very puzzled look on his face.
When I look back on mistakes I've made - like dumping my anger on someone, making assumptions in haste, partying too much, losing my nerve, being afraid to speak from my heart - in all cases a part of me had taken over. You know what I mean. The parts of us that have a partial view, are driven by one aim, clamp down on other parts, really want to have a particular experience or to eat/drink/smoke a particular molecule, yammer away critically, or hold onto resentments toward others.
Managing stress by many of the more conventional methods promoted by counseling and psychotherapy professionals are amongst some of the most unsuccessful treatment processes available. Why? In contemporary counseling, attempts to heal the problem are targeted at the person changing the results of their choices or by reducing the effect of the choices on the body and mind.
Seeking Balance rn Paul Dunion rn What is balance? Is it a good thing? If so, how is it acquired? Before addressing psychological balance, letâs explore the analogy of physical balance. We say that if you can stand on one foot while holding the other foot uplifted, you have demonstrated some measure of balance. If you can stand on one foot, and move the other foot in mid-air forward, side-to-side and backward, then youâve demonstrating more balance. If you can do the same
The truth of anything is like a mosaic with many tiles, many parts. One part of the truth of things is that they are robust and enduring, whether it's El Capitan in Yosemite or the love of a child for her mother and father.
When you're young, the territory of the psyche is like a vast estate, with rolling hills, forests and plains, swamps and meadows. So many things can be experienced, expressed, wanted, and loved.
The Influence of Positive Thinking When a person is full of positive thoughts, life is just simply better for them. They seem happy, content and seem to attract the attention of a lot of people. You must have come across people like this in your life some day or the other. When everyone else is crumbling, they will instead just brush things off and move on with their life in full vigor. What is the secret to the happiness of people like them? The answer lies in positive think
Growing weed in Canada has never been easier; recreational cannabis laws now state that within every household there can be 4 homegrown cannabis plants. If you want to truly reap the benefits of growing your own weed, the best way to do that is by getting your ACMPR Health Canada license. This license is for medical growers, but anyone in Canada can apply for it (all it requires is a doctor’s prescription and some paperwork). When applying for your medical grow license, ther
[If for you the breath is associated with trauma and discomfort, you probably shouldn't try this practice in its form below. But you might adapt it to something that is more nurturing for you, such as a saying or image.]
The roles of perceptions in our life are not only scientific but also spiritual. On one level, as I speak in my workshops, perceptions are like our inner lenses and what we see outside is a reflection of what is inside. SO, if you see and experience issues in your life, there is an issue inside you which needs to be resolved, this could be your thoughts and beliefs. So if I carry a belief that the world is a tough place to live, my lens will show me toughness. One way of work
FLOURISH IN THE FACE OF CHANGEnOVERCOMING FEAR IN TURBULENT TIMES Today, many of us have been forced to look at our life and current financial position closely, due to the uncertainty of our economy, the instability of our financial markets, and the unrelenting pessimism of media coverage. Stop for a moment and ask yourself, “What is good in my life”? Who am I grateful for at this very moment? What do I most value about myself? No matter what the current situation, you hav
Have you ever heard the saying “Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, today is a gift of God, which is why we call it the present?” Let’s give credit where it is due. That quote belongs to Bill Keane, the creator of the old cartoo Family Circus. Mother Teresa had a very similar one. She said, “Yesterday is gone. Tomorrow has not yet come. We have only today. Let us begin.”

Communication problems are probably the greatest barriers to happy and healthy relationships. Somewhere in the exchange of thoughts and information something goes wrong. Words come out one way and are meant another. What was said is not interpreted in the way it was intended. Some thoughts ...
A recession is an illness our country has and we have to participate in healing it as if we were sick. When dealing with an illness, people have to go beyond their conditioned habits and tap their inner resources to become an active part of the healing process. Our nation, actually the world, is our collective body and we all are but atoms of that body and we are sick. If patients focus on their conditioned ego, they tend to ignore the Wisdom of their Body. Most people just
We can only truly act in our self-interest when we are responding appropriately to objective truth, not belief. Belief has no boundaries, no limits, and is founded on hope. Truth is finiteâwith immoveable boundaries and absolute limitsâand is founded on scientific fact. Those of us who assume belief is synonymous with truth undermine the gift of modern human consciousness. Beliefs appeal to our fears, our hopes, our dreams, our patriotism, and often our dissatisfaction, r
