How much autonomy is appropriate to give? Empowering our children, employees, or anyone we’re leading is, we know, the best way to improve satisfaction, motivation, and commitment – but it also takes the right style to pull it off successfully. Do you tend to micromanage others: monitoring even the most routine tasks to ensure success (even if it’s done in the most gentle, people-friendly way)? Or do you allow others to express their creativity, make their own decisions, and learn from trial and error? Or do you do a bit of both, depending on the person and circumstance?
“There’s a small fly burning out the last of its short life’s energies in a futile attempt to fly through the glass of the windowpane. The whining wings tell the poignant story of the fly’s strategy — try harder. But it’s not working. The frenzied effort offers no hope for survival. Ironically, the struggle is part of the trap. It is impossible for the fly to try hard enough to succeed at breaking through the glass. Nevertheless, this little insect has staked its life on reaching its goal through raw effort and determination.
August has almost gone and with it the intense eclipse season. Ideally you are now in balance as the cosmos is setting the scene for your “turning point” month ahead – September. The launch pad was prepared by three consecutive days of Satu and Uranus completing an aspect which encourages the birthing of new structures; the full moon in Pisces urging us to go deep; and on the 27th Mars went direct. This latter move meaning now on is when to initiate a new project, a great love, an argument, a lawsuit etc.. Balance to Start Anew

If you can get up, learn from your mistakes and continue with your jo
Standing on the edge of the rock over looking the lake I wanted to jump, but I was scared. My two teenage boys, Evan and Luke, had coerced me into climbing to the top of a 40 foot rock which stuck out over Tygart Lake in WV while we were there boating with a friend. The teenagers made the jump ...

What does it take to be trusted? Ask 100 people and you'll get 100 answers. Are you ready to learn about three very critical elements of ...
I ran into some old friends last weekend, and immediately I felt a new sense of energy – catching my ‘second wind’ after a rather tiring morning. I think this happened for two reasons: one, simply because I was happy to see them, and two, because they’re very successful. I won’t get into the types of successes they’ve achieved, because that’s irrelevant: we all carry different definitions of success in different areas (finance, health, leadership, relationships, all of the above…). The point is that these people make me want to be my best.
In Star Trek Next Generation Jean-Luc Picard (French but inexplicably with a perfect English accent) was admirably played by Patrick Stewart. I was once lucky enough to see Patrick at a conference; he was one of the speakers giving an inspirational talk. He held the stage as befits a Royal ...
For those of us who work for a living, for ourselves or for someone else, career satisfaction is something we’d most definitely like to achieve. And career satisfaction is certainly an achievable goal – but it’s important that the term “satisfaction” be defined correctly for each one of us. In other words, if you want career satisfaction, you first need to identify what this really means to you. There is no empirical right or wrong: however you define career satisfaction is up to you. As long as it’s done honestly, is what’s right for you.
Before a couple of months I passed through a state of shock. I had a health problem that was acting up. I left behind a relationship that I believed had a future. My Greece (which I had made a conscious decision to live in, 5 years previously) was going bankrupt. Daily. I felt like all the stable factors in my life had become… unstable. At the same time, our company, was rapidly developing. As a life coach, its part of my job to support and inspire people, especially during this ‘special’ period, many individuals and companies come to me with this aim in mind.
I’m so excited! As you know, I’ve recently partnered with another company. When I first found Compass, I thought, “Are you kidding? Affordable coaching with experts in five areas of life; this is the best thing since bread. Not sliced bread, but actual bread! This is great for everyone!!!! I could never do this on my own.” As a sole proprietor, I could only offer individual coaching, group classes and training for business professionals and only in my area of expertise.

There is no good excuse for blaming someone else's behavior. Like it (or not), you are always at choice in what you do, what you say and who you are. No matter what nasty rotten hurtful thing someone does to you, it doesn't have to determine who you are. You and ONLY YOU get to determine that. ...

When my son was 8 he had a Big Idea. “I’m gonna be a Back Street Boy”, he said confidentially. “I’m gonna be a famous rapper.” “Great!” I said. “Let’s get started. What do you think you need to do to be a famous rapper?” “Nothing”, he said. “It will just happen.”r
I tend to request constructive feedback on many different things knowing there will be times I'll arc up at what I hear or read. I've requested website reviews for months now and finally a website critiqued mine. The first lines were about the great content, author is a great writer AND then line after line of feedback...n nAfter the initial nervous breakdown, banging head on keyboard and brick wall (I suggest you restrain yourself from doing this - it hurts and leaves funny

The stiff competition in the online businesses has left many websites struggling to stay alive. The need to have more visitors can not be stressed enough. Many have tried and failed to increase the number of their web traffic but it seems like a difficult task. It's not like in the real world where you can place a big banner outside your store claiming low prices and slashed off discounts.
If you called my office you will hear my voice mail message that ends with the words “Expect Success.” n There’s a important intent behind that. What if every time we made a phone call or personal request or met with a potential new customer, you expected you would be successful? Do you think your behavior would be different? n If we truly expected success we would make more phone calls, make more requests and schedule more appointments. And that would result in more business
Str you trsfy yo tovk? Are you ready to rock? Ever start typing away at something only to look down and realize you are typing gibberish? The first step in any good marketing plan is to know your ideal client and their emotionally compelling problem. Whether you are marketing your services as a massage therapist, a web builder, or designer, it's important to know how to communicate with potential clients in a way that grabs them at the gut level. Why is this so important? When you are able to speak to their emotions they sense that you understand them. When people they feel like you really get it, they also begin to trust you, and therefore are more ready to move to the next step in the sales process.

Know Your Truth, Embrace It Over the past week several people asked me about the effect of the new moon in Scorpio, which rose on 7th November. My replies highlighted the message to "Know your Truth" in the waves from various planetary shifts the day before and after it. Embrace Your Uniqueness On the 6th Uranus dipped back into Aries until 6th March 2019, when it moves back into Taurus for the next seven years. When outer planets flip into a new sign and then retrograde back into the previous sign for a short period, we obtain a taste of what is coming for us.

It has been both a very long and a surprisingly short 60 days since I first learned that I was getting laid off from my day job. As I embark on my last day tomorrow, I’ve been reflecting on what it means to complete what you started and do it with class. When I first got the news I was ...
Generative NLP Robert Dilts on Generative NLP By Kris HallbomrnThere is a presupposition in NLP which states that you already have the resources that you need to be successful. NLP developer, author, and trainer Robert Dilts has taken this presupposition one step further on the evolutionary path of NLP, by developing a process called Generative NLP. The concept of Generative NLP is that if you focus on your resources and how you can enrich them, instead of focusing on your pr

The final step to your success is #7 - Recap and Review. While this isn't in the IMAGE acronym, it is an important part of the system. Without an overview of the entire flow, we can't see if it is working. There really needs to be a Return On Investment “ROI” when trying to accomplish anything, right? Let's recap The IMAGE Success System by using this template (hint, it can be used for your next Imagine...) Step #1 - Imagine - Be Clear:r
As a business owner, you need different types of estate legal services than other individuals. If you don't plan to protect and pass on your business in a specific manner your business could fail and your family may not inherit it upon your passing. The time to plan your estate is when you are alive and healthy and thinking clearly.
Living the Dream! You hear people say it and you read the words of others who write about it – but are you DOING it? Are you living the dream? More specifically, I have two questions: first, do you have a dream or dreams, and second, are you ready to live your dream(s)?
Beliefs Block Your Beingness (Self) Lester made this statement when talking about beliefs, or as he called them, programs. What does it mean in the practical terms of achieving goals, having more money, and being happier? He said we are like a computer where the programmer has fallen asleep. Programs are long held beliefs that are really decisions we made consciously in the past and are now running unconsciously in the present. By the past he meant a very long time ago in other lives we have experienced.

Henry David Thoreau wrote “……I wished to live deliberately, and not, when I came to die, discover that I had not lived. I did not wish to live what was not life, living is so dear; nor did I wish to practice resignation...” Even in 1854, Thoreau noted that most men are slaves to their work and enslaved to those for whom they work and states that “"The mass of men lead lives of quiet desperation. What is called resignation is confirmed desperation....”
Pricing seems to be the hot issue this month. Many of my clients are asking for help with how to decide how much to charge for their services. Many years ago I would have avoided this topic like the plague because of my own unresolved money issues.

One of my favorite movie scenes is from A League of their Own. I don’t want to give it away if you haven’t seen the movie, but there’s this scene with Gina Davis and Tom Hanks. She’s leaving and he’s trying to convince her to stay. She said, “It just got too hard.” Tom Hanks said, “It’s supposed to be hard. The hard is what makes it great.” I get Goosebumps just thinking about it. What a great line! All the best things in life are the most difficult to get. The very fact that it’s hard is what makes it special.

Change Your Biological Computer Programming Would you like to change and enhance your mental and physical wellbeing? Would you like to improve your life and work? I love what Dr. Joe Dispenza says about wanting to create a better life and have more success: “We can’t create a new future while we’re living in our past. It’s simply impossible.”
Let’s turn back the clock… What does 2010 have to do with it? I’d like to start off by saying. Be grateful about where you’re at today and what you’ve accomplished this year. Stuck in disappointment is not cute! Be the architect of your life & design it exactly how you want it. “If you want beautiful results. You have to be willing to deal with the ugly stuff…” It’s time to skip the flowery stuff and go straight to the truth.
Does it seem counter-intuitive that cause marketing programs are continuing to prosper in a pinched economy? I talked with David Hessekiel, president and founder of Cause Marketing Forum , about why cause-related marketing campaigns have a current advantage, best practices for starting a cause marketing program and how to protect your company from accusations of 'cause-washing.' nnFounded in 2002, Cause Marketing Forum provides companies and nonprofits with the resources to d
Ok, see if you can relate to this one. You're all excited about the opportunity you've just joined. You approach your friends and family FULL of excitement in hopes that they will be supportive, join, and start recruiting others. Instead they: laugh at you, ridicule you, or tell you that you're stupid "trying these scams". We've all been there before, and it's not a fun place to be. If you haven't done so already you need to accept the following: 1. 95% of your friends and family will NOT support you in your home business endeavors. So get over it! 2.
