You should prepare your promotional materials in advance, once you have written it and are confident in your speaking skills; you are ready to start marketing yourself to the people who can hire you.

8. APPROACH POTENTIAL EMPLOYERS:

Potential employers of speakers include seminars, conventions, conferences, trade shows, corporations, associations, and government agencies.

9. GET EMPLOYERS TO APPROACH YOU:

You can make it happen by becoming well known in your company. The most effective ways to become well known as a speaker include: get interviewed on radio or TV and give free speeches to community groups.
