3 Best Steps to Bounce Back After Holiday Over Eating - By: Joey Poltor

Turkey, and Stuffing and Pie, Oh My!!

Holidays are for enjoying! Let’s be realistic, it’s impossible to resist all temptations, I am personally a sucker for anything pumpkin. But, you should never beat yourself up about overeating. It happens. Remember, Moderation is the Key to staying on track for Successful Weight Loss. Nevertheless, don’t stay off track for more than that one meal. Weight gain easily creeps up over the Holiday Season. But, it won’t happen to you this year, because now You have ME!!! Be thankful for your will power and healthy body. Bad Food tastes good, but being Fit feels way better.

Here are 3 Easy Steps to Recover After Over Indulging:

1. H2O
Booze and salty foods will leave your body dehydrated. The first thing you should do when you wake up is drink at least 8 ounces of water to get your body flowing. Keep hydrated and aim to get at least 64 ounces of water throughout the day. You will feel much better and less bloated if you make sure to keep hydrated. Also, drinking all of this water will flush out all of the toxins you ate, like sugar and preservatives.

2. Eat Healthy Foods
Sounds counter-intuitive, right? But starving yourself the day after a long night of eating will only set yourself up for a binge. Eat a refreshing breakfast of fruit, especially bananas as they are rich in potassium. If you can manage to eat a larger meal, try to eat something with protein like eggs. Eggs contain taurine and cysteine, both of which will also help flush toxins out of your body. It’s all about getting rid of the yucky stuff. As soon as they are out of your body, you will feel much better.

3. Move it Move it!
While you may be dead tired, drag yourself out of bed and do something active. Yoga, a light jog, it doesn’t matter, just get moving. Once your heart starts to pump and you sweat out those nasty toxins, you will feel lighter and more energized. If you’re shopping, you’ll probably be parking far away from the mall and walking a lot. Don’t be a Lazy Lucy and circle the lot for an hour just to find a close spot. Shame on you!

~ If you are still feeling super yucky or if you had 3 too many cocktails (hey, it happens), try Kombucha. I like GTS Synergy Kombucha in Guava Goddess. It will help to restore your PH Levels and help a gurgly tummy. Yes, that is a scientific term Kombucha actually does improve your digestion and is an alkalized forming food when consumed. It also has a healthy dose of Vitamin B6 which will give you a nice energy boost. Most health food stores and Whole Foods carry the GTS Synergy Brand. Try it, you’ll like it!

Whether you overdid it with the egg nog or pumpkin pie, it’s easy to beat yourself up for falling off the diet-wagon. But, instead of feeling guilty, be proactive! Feeling sorry for yourself won’t erase the calories so why torture yourself. Focus on the positive and get moving… Make your next meal super lean and healthy!
