Consider this- you start your weight loss journey all motivated and pumped up. For a week straight you have been eating clean and working out. But as soon as the second week starts you land a huge deal and your entire focus is on the deal now. Good for you, but what about weight loss? Down the drain isn’t it?

Our brain is a beautiful thing, when you control your mind to achieve something that you once thought impossible, you end up achieving all that and much more. But since we deal with so many facets of our lives on a regular basis, it becomes extremely difficult to stay focused and direct all your energy to one goal.

So does that mean that you can only concentrate on one goal at a time?

Absolutely not, our brain has been wired to multitask. The only help it needs from us is prioritization and motivation. When you list down your goals in the order of their importance to you, you are sending the brain a signal to recognize, memorize, and implement upon that list.

That is the easy part. Motivation, on the other hand, is tricky ground. Finding your motivation isn’t hard, the hard part is to constantly be in that state of newfound motivation. Here, your brain is not going to help you, it will not wake you up every day with a motivated mind, unless you help it to.

This is where the Vision Board comes into the picture. A Vision Board is like a normal bulletin board filled with life goals, motivational pictures or texts, affirmations, planner, progress report, and about anything else that helps to keep your focus on the goal.

The basic principle of Law of Attraction is visualization and belief. The vision board serves a better purpose as it makes visualization a lot easier.

Why you absolutely need a vision board

Get your daily dose of motivation- In my example above, looking at a vision board the first thing in the morning would have rekindled that motivation with which you started the weight loss journey. Your list of ‘Why I want to Lose Wight’ or ‘Reward(s) for Losing 10 Pounds’ would have instantly pulled you into that zone again. And despite being occupied with work, you would have been alert and conscious of the fact that you are trying to lose weight, so you somehow need to include any form of exercise you can- whether it is running up and down the stairs or taking a quick walk, or even dancing vigorously for 10 minutes.

Never lose focus- With a vision board you have everything that you need to stay on the track. You don’t need to make efforts to go through the why, what and how over and over again. This helps to keep your focus on the goal even if you manage to steer away for some time.

Seeing is so much better than imagining- Which is better- imagining a beautiful sunset or seeing one? It is simple, when you have your goals in front of you, even if it is just written words on paper, it has a bigger impact. Your vision board is your personal window to the future, of how you will feel, and what the situation would be like once you get there.

How to make a vision board?

It is extremely easy, and if you are more of a hail-the-digital-world kind of person, you can try the vision board software too through which you can make a digital version of the vision board.

The first step of course is to decide which goal you want to put on the board.

Then collect relevant pictures, if your vision board is for weight loss collect as many before and after pictures, pictures of celebrities you want to look like, motivational pictures that will get you through. Even quotes that you can identify with. Just make sure you have a good collection of images and texts that can instantly motivate you to get on the wagon.

If your vision board is big enough, do try to accommodate a planner and progress report that will give you a quick idea of your plan of action.
For a digital version board, there are various tutorials that you can look up. There are other tutorials for Windows, just browse through YouTube.

In my opinion, creating a vision board has really helped me achieve some of my life’s short and mid-term goals so far, and I’m on way to achieve the long ones too. Have you made a vision board yet or are you planning to make one?
