Reach for the Gold!

I imagine every one of you reading this right now has an idea what receiving the gold medal means to an Olympic winner. It’s the top of the line, the ultimate dream to obtain, the highest achievement. Oftentimes it took many years of great effort, nose-to-the-grindstone training to win that gold medal. It is a well deserved honor. But just as one wins the gold medal, all the rest lose the opportunity to wear that gold around their neck. So does that mean only one individual is capable of receiving that gold medal?

Of course not. All those who competed for that medal trained just as hard with many long hours of sacrifice in hopes of winning that gold. They gave great effort just as the winner did. And so it is in the arena of competition as the world sees it. One wins, everyone else loses, according to that perception.

I’m going to share with you how to reach for the gold and receive it, and it has nothing to do with anyone else and everything to do with you. I believe each one of us is endowed with the gift of empowerment. We are born with great internal power as long as we connect with our Source of power. (God in my beliefs) In that space of unlimited power I can envision reaching for the gold and actually receiving it, and it has nothing to do with how many others are doing the same because we can all be winners.

But here’s the problem. We get in the way of the final victory. We get so busy trying to figure out how to do it, which path is most advantageous to obtain our desire, who to connect with to make it happen – all the details of creating the achievement for reaching the gold. That is tiring and stressful, not to mention often futile. While we may have extensive education, many years of experience, knowledge we’ve gained along our path, and determination and motivation to succeed, we may still find ourselves missing the gold. How can this be?

Each of us has the potential to be and do anything we want to do yet many do not truthfully believe that in their heart. Their head may say it is so, but the heart is not aligned with total belief of this truth. So with a negative hitting against a positive, it is a wash-out with no forward movement toward the gold. It is necessary to align your vibration with what you want rather than what you feel you are missing or cannot have.

The secret is to get out of the way and allow our Higher Power to work out the details. We place the intention of what we want – the gold we wish to achieve – and then we quietly go about life as usual and allow the universe to align with our desire and begin the process of bringing it to us. Not an easy task for many since we’ve been taught we have to work hard and do all kinds of things to make something happen. Sure, we have to work hard once the doors to our desire have opened for us, but until then it’s like hitting your head against a brick wall over and over.

Another detour in achieving the gold is giving up too soon. Many people begin the journey to the gold but tire during the process and step into doubt, thus giving up saying it’s just too hard or it’s never going to happen because it’s taking too long. I’ve heard many times that most people give up just before they reach their goal, having gone 80% of the way. Discouragement, obstacles, weariness, outside negative influences and people, and a host of other challenges stop them from pursuing the gold they anticipated. Remember, things of value take time to build. You cannot build a house overnight; there are many steps to be accomplished before you can move into that dream house and live there. Such it is when one is building a dream. One thing is for sure, if something isn’t working no matter how hard you try to make it happen, it is one of two things: either this is not the path for you or you are in the way and need to step back and allow for divine intervention to complete the task.

Another aspect of achieving the gold is this. When you want to reach for the gold, you must set your sight high enough. It may even seem as if it is impossible to achieve, but all those who have won a gold medal will tell you they had to keep that vision in front of their face at all times because it was a huge stretch to take. When you really want to reach the gold you must dream big, really big, and allow it to take you way out of the box. After all, reaching the gold is simply reaching the top prize. I truly believe our dreams must take us beyond what we can comprehend we can ever achieve, yet I also believe that everything is possible and we have to believe that. Every winner will tell you that yes, it took a great deal of hard work and many hours of due diligence, but I can guarantee every winner also believed he/she could achieve it. Seeing and believing is the secret to achieving.
