As I find my way through this gorgeous, sunny day, I contemplate life as it is given to me. What I eat and what I drink is first on my agenda. I must fill my body with the best there is to offer. I start with organic coffee made from the finest Italian Roasted beans, open the long awaited buffalo milk yogurt that I have been saving for the right moment of craving and swigging down a glass of filtered water to flush the morning system. As I reflect on what day of the year it actually is, I fondly remember my father, king of “you gotta have good bread.” My dad was a man of simple means. He conserved many things and lived quite frugally. He did not waste his leftovers, electricity or his grocery bags. He put them all to good use. He grew up in the day when families actually had 11 children, him being the 10th of those 11. His father died when he was young so his older brothers and sisters filled in the gaps in order for “Tommy” to still have a wonderful childhood. He did, indeed, have a great childhood and a great life, filled with great and kind teachers. He was a sweet man that required little maintenance, except when it came to his bread. His philosophy about bread was very basic. “You should always buy good bread, never skimp on the bread,” he would say. He bought the one with all the “goodies” in it, all the fiber and grains one could get in a loaf of bread. He would even pay more just to have the “good kind” of bread. At the end of the day, he still had money in his pocket but not to buy anything “too fancy.” However, he rest assured he would wake up and have his good bread.

Wake up with the basics is a great way to start the day, everyday. Whole and healthy foods are necessary to nourish the body and the soul from the very beginning of your day. We deserve it! We are in control of what we feed our bodies, which helps us to have healthier and better results. Feed yourself well. Keep mindful of what you are feeding your body. Good quality always wins over cheaper quantity. When we realize that we deserve healthier foods every day, we can feel our abundance every waking moment and nourish our bodies with a very simple plan. Keep your eating basic and start your day with the good bread. God bless Tommy for his simple, lifelong plan of always having “good bread.”
