Time to Set Goals - Get Out Your Checklist
Written by Sean Barker
If you are going to set out to accomplish something with an end result in mind, you need a plan and you need to set goals. If you fail to plan, you plan to fail!
If you want to make a certain dish, you follow a recipe. If you are going to construct a building, you follow a blueprint. A plan provides steps that you need to complete one at a time in order to get your finished product.
So why is it that most people who enter a gym, just end up going through the motions? Then as long as they put in their time, they feel satisfied of their efforts. As with anything in life if you want to accomplish something you have to set goals and work towards fulfilling these goals. In your training, set goals for lifting more, lifting with better form, staying more focused etc. If adhering to proper nutrition is a problem for you, plan your meals, how much you will eat, what you will and when you will eat. If it's work or school, set deadlines, or a better grade on your next exam. Once your goals are defined, all you have to it break it down into "bite size pieces" and follow through.
Make a daily checklist of what you have to do each day to get things done. I have recently took this a step further and check off my daily disciplines that I must follow to do want to in life. I adopted this from Skip Lacour, one of the world's top natural bodybuilders and motivational coaches. Try this and it will keep you accountable of what you need to do, to get your end result.
