During summertime we all know that our flowerpots require extra watering. To keep our plants alive and flourishing, we give them special attention during the summer months. The same holds true for us. When our personal flowerpots, (body, mind, heart and spirit), are drying out, and we feel tired, it's important to water ourselves, to find our juices again. The task is to find out what our personal water is: what brings us true enjoyment? What lights us up? Remember what made you jump for joy when you were a kid. Maybe you loved to play outside, go swimming, ride a bike, or play games? What about now? What makes your heart sing and your spirit soar?

Give yourself permission to water your own flowerpot. In nature, things die when they don't receive what they need for their aliveness. It’s amazing what a little water will do and what grows as a result.

What would nourish you now? Is it…

• Using nature as a way to feed your inner self be it gardening, exercising or a picnic?
• A miracle walk, when you look with awe and wonder at nature’s small details?
• Expressing your creativity through activities like art, cooking, dancing, music, and writing?
• Planning playtime for yourself, family and friends?
• Allowing quiet time daily?
• Laughing out loud everyday?
• Showing an act of kindness daily? (Just a smile can make someone’s day)
• Practicing extreme self-care?

These small steps are simple ways to water and fertilize your flowerpot. Watch yourself begin to bloom!

The challenge we all face is how to keep these and other lifestyle habits that create aliveness in our lives long term and consistently. Everything inside us wants to maintain our current “comfort zone” even if it is not contributing to our aliveness, health, and well being.
