Feng Shui Tips for Your Office

Your office is where you might spend forty or more hours a week. While you might be comfortable in your space what about your co-workers and your clients? The energy of your office space will impact all of the people who work or visit it. Both your customers and your employees impact your bottom line so it makes sense to create an environment that they feel good in. In order to make the energy of your office space inviting and productive, you can to use Feng Shui to help you bring energy, life, and prosperity into your work environment.

Remove the Clutter

The best way to begin your Feng Shui efforts is to start by removing any and all clutter from your office. This includes overflowing file cabinets, storage units and work surfaces. If you can’t get to the paper cutter because it has a pile of paper on it, get rid of the pile. It might be knick knacks you keep on your desk or piles of work you still need to do. Your clients and your colleagues want to see a desk that is free from these distractions as this shows that you are focused on them, not on the other things that seem to be filling your space. Of course, shoving things in your drawers is not the best way to handle this situation. Take a day to remove anything from your office area which is not immediately serving you. Then make sure you keep things clutter free.

Find a Way to Add Your Unique Touch

Your energy is what makes your office your office. While Feng Shui seems to be a practice of inviting energy in your space, it’s also a practice of inviting your unique character and personality as well. For example, if you’re an energetic person, then you should decorate your space in vibrant colors, colors that show others you are someone that is intense and active. But if you’re more of a calm and collected person, you might want to choose colors that are muted. The bonus to this decorating is that these colors and decorations then attract the same energy, which makes your work day a bit smoother and more stress free.

Fill your space with things and sayings that inspire you. A picture of your mentor on the wall may give you the answers that you are looking for. Your favorite saying may give you the direction that you need in that moment. A beautiful plant will make your space more comfortable.

Often we are so concerned about the bottom line that we forget that people are the true assets of our business. When you make them happy your business will prosper.

Feng Shui doesn’t have to be difficult or painful when you use it in your office. All you need to do is to think about what you need and what others might need from you when they come to see you. From there, what you do is your choice and truly a process that should reflect the energy you have and the energy you want to attract.
