We all have the potential to become successful in every area of our lives; we just need to know where to begin.
In creating your ideal life, you must first realize that you have a certain amount of power; just as you are right now--no matter what you may think about yourself.
You have the power to change your habits, the power to acquire skills; and most importantly, the power to choose… your happiness, your attitude and your success.
Whether you are aware of it or not, you make choices constantly, every moment. Once you wake up in the morning you decide to stay in bed or get out of bed; you decide whether to go to work or call in sick and go shopping, you decide to have a great breakfast or skip breakfast, you can choose to just go with the flow or make some choices to better your life.
The good news is regardless of your current circumstances, you can choose your thoughts and how you react to any situation. We can choose to be positive, loving, and appreciative or negative, judgmental and critical.
Choose to believe in yourself!
People who are the most successful choose to tell themselves they can do it. It's very important to believe in yourself and your capabilities. Your beliefs make up the person you become and will influence what you achieve in life. If you believe you can, you will go to great lengths to prove yourself right. However, if you believe you can't, you will make no effort.
If you need to, practice believing in yourself. Practice telling yourself you can do it; no matter how difficult, no matter what it takes. You've got what it takes. You can do it! You are capable of more than you have ever imagined! Now tell yourself that. As your belief in yourself expands, any problems or challenges you face will lose their sense of power.
Remember "Whether we think we can or think we can't, we're right".
Choose to make a specific goal!
Having goals in our lives is important. For some, simply creating goals brings about a positive change. When you make a goal, you are creating an exciting challenge for yourself.
Having the goal of being rich or being thin can be to broad. If it's not clear and concise, written down with an expected date of attainment, then it's not a goal, it's just a wish. You have to be specific in order to turn a wish into a goal. Saying "I will increase my income by $500,000 by June this year" or "I will lose 25 pounds by my graduation" are examples of specific goals.
Choose to take action!
Taking action is the key to really living your potential. When we say that someone has the potential to do or be something, it actually means that they are not doing or being that particular thing right now. For example, you can have the potential to be a great chef or a public speaker but if you never take any action towards that goal, having the potential alone means nothing. Many of us have tremendous potential for greatness and never act on it.
If you are still trying to tap into what your unique talent is or what your purpose or passion is, the way to find out is by taking action. Just taking little action steps toward finding out what your passion, talent or special gift is, is a start.
Choose to be positive!
A positive attitude leads to happiness and success and can change your whole life. If you look at the bright side of life, your whole life becomes filled with light. This light affects not only you and the way you look at the world, but also your whole environment and the people around you. If it is strong enough, it becomes contagious.
If you have been exhibiting a negative attitude and expecting failure and difficulties, it is now time to change the way you think. It is time to get rid of negative thoughts and behavior and lead a happy and successful life. Why not start today? If you have tried and failed, it only means that you have not tried enough.
Choose to be accountable!
Once you've defined your goal and committed yourself to achieve it, make yourself accountable; start talking about it! Talking about your goals makes them real. It also allows people to help you reach your goal and gives them the opportunity to support you along the way.
Not holding yourself accountable is the single greatest reason why people don’t reach their goals. Most people have a general idea what is lacking in their lives, and they might even write down a few goals; But more often then not, life gets in the way and their goals are never realized. By not being accountable to yourself you are basically lying to yourself. Take yourself seriously. Give yourself the respect you deserve.
Choose to surround yourself with successful people!
If you want to elevate yourself into a different level of success, you should start associating with people who are achieving that success. It's really that simple. You can learn from those people, and in the process, you can help your old friends become better at it as well. Then you'll be confident and comfortable at the same time.
Choose to celebrate each success!
Don't wait to throw a party! Every step toward your goal should be documented and celebrated! When you get discouraged or have doubts, your record of past successes will quickly get you back on track. Also, the celebration will build and re-enforce your confidence. Congratulate yourself each time you succeed.
Choose to never give up!
Don't let fear, intimidation, doubt, lack of finances, etc., dictate to you that you can't reach your goals. Always trust in yourself and never give up. Sometimes the road may be long and rough, but remember that obstacles are there because we need to learn and grow from them. Never let anyone tell you that your dream can't happen, it can! Keep seeing yourself doing what you love to do and being successful at it. As you continue to take steps towards your goals, not only will you remain focused, but your goals have no other choice but to become a reality!
As humans, we naturally have qualities and abilities that can lead to our success. In order to create the life you want, you need to first have a specific goal in mind and then start taking action towards that goal. In the process of striving for your goals, you start to see your unknown potential unfold before you. As you make progress, however small, you will feel a sense of fulfillment and excitement. This sense of advancement contributes to your happiness and ultimately leads to your success. Capitalize on the Success!
There are limits to the time you have to live, but no limits on how you live your time.
Now is the time. Choose to live your potential!
