There are a number of padded envelopes to choose from in all sizes and different kinds of padding. It depends on how thickly you want the envelope padded to protect the contents and what size you will need in order to ship properly. One must remember that the measurements of the outside of the envelope is slightly larger than the inside of the envelope. So when you measure the contents of what you are sending, take this into consideration, so that you do not buy an envelope that is too small. Some envelopes open and close at the length of the envelope. Others may open and close along the width of the envelope.

There are envelopes called Jiffy Mailers that have a bubble cushion inside. The top end is scored for ease in sealing and it has a tab to tear the envelope open, which makes it easier to open. These envelopes come in 12 different sizes. The smallest is 4" X 8" (outside) and 3 7/8" X 6 3/4" (inside). The largest size is 14 1/4" x 20" (outside) and 14 1/8" x 18 3/4" (inside). All the other sizes are in-between. Most all padded envelopes come in these standard sizes with some variations. The lightest weight mailer is the self seal bubble mailers. You may be able to save enough on the postage to pay for the envelope. This envelope has a 3/16th. Inch bubble lining. The seal on the envelope is guaranteed. If you are a business and wish to impress your clients then there are white self seal bubble mailers. They are easy to open and close. They have self seal bags that secure instantly. These will ship UPS. There are fewer sizes available in this type of envelope. The smallest is 6" X 10" (outside) and 5 7/8" X 8 3/4" (inside). The largest size is 14 1/2" X 20" (outside) and 14 1/8" X 18 3/4" (inside).

There are padded envelopes that are water resistant and tear proof. They have 3/16" of bubble protection on the inside of the envelope and the outside of the envelope has a smooth surface for writing. The envelopes with a wide side opening for ease in packing are available with bubble packing to protect contents. These come only in four sizes. The smallest is 11 1/2" x 8 1/4" (outside) and 10 1/2" x 7" (inside). The largest size available is 16" X 12 1/4" (outside) and 16 1/2" X 12 1/4".

There are padded mailers with extra tough material and 3/16" of bubble protection on the inside, which is two times the thickness of other mailers. It is less expensive to use this type of envelope rather than a box. You can safely ship most items such as electronic items. These come in five sizes, the smallest being 7 1/4" x 12"7 (outside and 7 1/8" x 10 1/2" (inside).

If you really want to impress the receiver or if your mailer is a special gift then they have a glitzy, metallic mailer available in various colours, such as red, black, blue, green, purple, gold and silver. These mailers have a 3/16" bubble protection on the inside. They are available in seven sizes. The smallest is 7" x 6 3/4" (outside) and 6" x 6 1/2" (inside).

The largest padded envelopes size is 19" x 22 1/2" (outside) and 18" x 22" (inside).
