I wrote a post last week titled How To Get Subscribers Using Ad Swaps. I had some people ask me how I did it so, today I want to show you how I reached the #3 spot on google’s first page in under 24 hours for my chosen keyword ”Get Subscribers.”

Keyword Research

The most important thing you can do before writing any post or article is keyword research and knowing which keywords to pick can be a challenge.

Here are a few tips on picking keywords

• Pick phrases with high search volume and low competition
• Pick more than one phrase to use
• I usually pick at least 3 phrases for each post
• Use variations of the keyword for example (If you were going for “get subscribers”, you could look at “how to get subscribers” “getting subscribers” or “get subscriber”, just a little tweaking can make all the difference on where you rank) and you can use these variations throughout your post without overloading or keyword stuffing your post

Placing Your Keywords Properly Within Your Post

This is a very important part of on page SEO. If you use your keyword too often, google won’t like you, but, if you use it too little they still won’t like you. So what is a person to do?

Here is something I live by. You want to use your keyword once for every 100 words in your post, so 1% saturation. Here’s where choosing more than one keyword phrase comes in handy. You can do this for every KW phrase you choose to rank for. So you can double or even triple the amount of keywords that google will rank you for. That’s huge!

Where Do You Put Your Keywords?

• Make sure your main keyword phrase is in the title. Very Important! But if you can fit 2 keyword phrases into your title, while still making it readable, by all means do it.
• You want your KW in an H2 and H3 tag also
• Always have an image in your post and make sure you fill out the Alt text, caption and description with your keyword, Tip (I also link the image to the post it is contained in, instead of just a static page with just the image on it)
• I also make sure to Bold and Italicize my keyword at least 2 or 3 times in the post, if you have more than one phrase, do this for all of them. This helps googles spiders find your keywords much easier.

Meta Tags

Hugely important, since these are how search engines find out what your post is about. There are 3 Meta tags:
1. Meta Keywords: Which of course are the keywords you chose to rank for
2. Meta Title: Which, if you optimized your title for your keywords, than just use that
3. Meta Description: This is probably where you want to focus your most attention, because the description is what people will see in the search engine under the title. You want to entice people to read more with your description, so be creative.

Blog Promotion

The last and probably most important part because if you have great content, but no one reads it. Well, you’re just wasting your time. Plus promoting your post will give you links and google loves to see links back to your site.
I use a few plugins for this which I will outline in my next post. I have gone a little longer than I wanted to with this post so I will stop here and save the rest for tomorrow.
