How Failing is the Foundation to Success

We have all heard the clique, ”If at first you don’t succeed, try, try again.” When we hear such statements at children, we may not fully believe them.

I just read a response to a LinkedIn email from a friend of mine who is an astute yet sensitive attorney, Mark Baer. Yes, I know some of you don’t even believe that exists, but it does. He was touched when he learned of the death of a special person in his life, Jill Kinmount, his remedial reading teacher in 3rd grade.

He went on to make the honor’s program each and every year after that in elementary school and high school. He was in the honor’s program at UCLA and graduated cum laude. Recently he has been writing numerous articles about divorce and other topics, which are well written and thoughtful. They are also written in a way that the average person, like me, can understand them. Plus, he’s a really great attorney.

His revelation about himself made me think of my own background. When I was in grade school, I was told to mouth the words when the class was singing because I threw others off key. Later my ex-husband told me how poorly I sang. 10 or 15 years ago a psychic nutritionist, Eileen Poole, told me my voice heals people. “Really?” I thought, how can that be?

In recent years my clients tell me how my chanting speaks to their soul. I chant for them in sessions or classes when it feels right. Being an empath, I can feel their energy shifting when I do this. So much for being told about my terrible voice.

In regards to my own writing, when I finished my master’s thesis, both my professor and the psychologist whose work I wrote about, told me my writing was not very good. Yet when I wrote my book, “Are You in Love With a Vampire? Healing the Relationship Drain Game”, the first book to define the types of relationship vampires, I had three different publishers come after me to publish my book. www.hzharris.com/store One of the publishers was so angry at me for refusing to go with her company that she spoke negatively about me in her workshops for awhile even though I was no threat to her in any way.

Jack Canfield has shared the story about the Chicken Soup books. He went to 144 publishers before one of them agreed to publish the book. From that one book, an entire empire has been created.

I can assure you every time I do something new, I’m sometimes scared and uncomfortable I won’t be able to do it right or good enough. Just like many of you may have felt. I’m concerned I’m “too mature” to get all this new techy stuff. But I work all those methods I’ve learned and created to transform negative emotions and beliefs. And I push forward into action as soon as I can. Now I’m even allowing me to go through changes and learn new things with ease and flow. Wow! Another growth movement.

When my income went down to 50% of what I was earning in the beginning of 2009, I first got frightened and overwhelmed. Then I do what I do best. I went inside to heal deeper and release anything in my way and I worked with a really good coach and mentor to learn new methods to add to what I already do. And I’m back up there and bringing in more each month than I did before the economic crisis.

I want to leave you with this: the only difference between those who succeed and those who fail is that when winners fail, they do it over and over and over again, until they succeed.

So can you! This is your time. There is so much energy now for reversing and transforming past patterns on a cellular level and opening you to your greatness, your gifts, your talents, your message – to all you can be! Go for it!
