Digestion is the process of breaking food or large insoluble parts of food into small soluble food molecules so that it can be absorbed into the watery blood plasma. In humans the food enters the mouth and the mechanical digestion process begins, foodreaches the stomach where it breaks into digestible and indigestible food. Nutrients, proteins, carbohydrates and fat is absorbed by the smaller intestine andthefood that has not been digested travels to the large intestine and excretes out in the form of roughage from the body.
