The Law of Attraction says we get what we think about. But how does this actually occur? What do I have to do to invoke the Law of Attraction to get the things I want rather than the things I do not want? Is there anything else involved on my part? The answers to these and similar questions confuse people to the point where they do not even try. Let us see if we can shed some light on the matter.

Step One: Decide

The first step to invoking the Law of Attraction is deciding what we want. While anything is possible, we want to be very clear about our desires. Only by being clear does the Universe have the necessary information to get the job done.

One way to make sure we are clear about our desires is to create SMART goals. SMART is an acronym which stands for Specific, Measurable, As If Now, Relevant, and Timed. Specific goals are clearly defined, with as much detail as possible. Measurable goals have criteria so we can judge our progress towards the goal, and we can decide whether we have reached the goal or not at any given time. “As If Now” calls for visualization of the achievement of whatever we are working towards; by visualizing success we show how the goal can be part of our lives. Relevant desires are those which are congruent to our belief system; any limiting beliefs need to be eliminated to clear the path for achieving the goal. Timed goals have a deadline, which can be used to create a plan towards reaching the goal.

Step Two: Believe

The power the Universe uses to provide our desired results is belief. The stronger we believe, the more likely we are to achieve. Belief allows us to overcome obstacles along our path. Belief gives us determination to continue working towards the goal in spite of setbacks and delays.

Step Three: Act

Goals do not typically appear in our lives. We have to work to reach our goal. However, if we know what our goal is, we will have the power to move towards our goal by believing we can. Action propels us along the path to our goal; the Universe will put the correct path in front of us, giving us guidance along the way, but the Universe will not walk the path for us.

Step Four: Receive

Always be ready to receive the desired results. Be grateful that you have the possibility of achieving your dreams. Receive what you are given with gratitude; the more gratitude we give out, the faster the achievement of the goal. If belief is the power for our action, gratitude is the power for the reaction of the Universe.

The one thing we do not have to do is worry about how the goal will be achieved. That path will be presented to us by the Universe. Our job is to decide where we want to be, and to walk the path with belief and gratitude until we get to the desired destination. Each journey starts with a single step; with belief that step can be taken. As Napoleon Hill stated, “whatever the mind can conceive and believe, it can achieve.” Walk the path towards your goal.
