When it comes to online marketing, there is a right way and a wrong way to go about doing it. The right way involves creating a relationship with your target audience, nurturing that relationship and listening to their feedback after buying your products or services. The wrong way involves a lot of lies that the marketer cannot back up or prove.

“We’ll give you this, worth $XYZ, for free!”

Quite often this slogan is attached to a ‘free’ bonus than an online marketer is using to try and entice you to buy their product or service. However, it can be used to suggest that buying now will give you a huge discount on the normal price. A lot of people, these days, realize that the marketer has just pulled these figures out of thin air and that they probably never charge for this so-called ‘bonus’.

“It worked for me, and it can work for you, too!”

Some online marketers will claim to be everyday people who somehow made thousands of dollars by doing something that hardly seems like it would be a profitable industry (organic flower groomers, anyone?). They then go on to claim that, as this market is so big, you can do exactly the same thing and make a ton of cash too. Most logical people would see straight through this ruse.

“I love helping people!”

It is not just online marketers who like to use this slogan; anyone who is trying to get you to trust them and make it seem as if they care likes to say that they are a people person. In the case of dodgy online marketers, however, they are just after your hard earned money. Whilst there is nothing wrong with this (isn’t it what we’re all trying to do?), they don’t really care and aren’t going to go out of their way to help you.

“You’d quit your job if you were serious about this!”

There are some online marketers who will really push the whole ‘make money fast online’ campaigns. They tell people that, if they were really serious about the opportunity they are being offered, they would quit their jobs and work full-time making money online. But going ‘all in’ with these schemes is a huge mistake, as many people now realize.

And these are not the only lies out there that online marketers will tell just to make a sale – there are plenty of them. Ever been told that “this product is the best thing I’ve ever seen” or that “anyone can do it”? More lies employed by dodgy marketers to make a quick buck.
