I want to talk about a topic that is a common experience for the Child of God and that experience is called Disappointment. When one begins their walk with Jesus Christ, one expects their lives to become better than they were prior to Jesus Christ. They hope their finances will improve, their health will improve and that their relationships will improve. I mean, afterall, when Jesus walked the earth, everyone's lives that He touched improved whereas, the blind saw, the lame walked, the deaf heard and the oppressed were set free. Oh, and don't forget when He took the 5 loaves and 2 fish and fed five thousand people so, why can't these kind of miracles happen to me? Doesn't He love me the way He did these people and doesn't He want me blessed? The answer is sure He does but, when Jesus was here, there were many people who were not healed, delivered and set free who probably experienced disappointment and, this can turn to bitterness and resentment which can cause one to turn away from Christ and go back to the world.
When one decides to follow Jesus Christ, one must examine their motives as to why they are following Him. If one is only following Him to be blessed then, their motives are selfish but, if they are following Him because of the fact that He died for them and they want to show their gratitude for such an act of love, then their motives are pure. One should not follow Jesus to get things but, to give things such as their forgiveness, love, possessions, and time to those so in need of His love, mercy and concern. When one begins to follow Jesus Christ, the Holy Spirit works within their heart to make it like the heart of Christ full of compassion, love and mercy. The Holy Spirit works within the mind to fill it with the wisdom of Christ that can solve the many problems mankind suffers from. The Holy Spirit also gives one the power and strength to bless others so that they can be a blessing. So, one can see that following Jesus Christ is not about them but about others and, when one begins to bless others then, one is truly blessed and, when one is truly blessed, they are no longer disappointed but, have found their divine appointment which is to be the heart of God which is love and when one learns to love their God with all their heart, mind, soul and srength and love their neighbor as themselves, then one has truly seized their divine appointment then, all disappointment goes away.
