This article does not list the hundreds of reasons why quitting smoking is the best thing in the world for you because you already know them. This article will list the most effective Tips and Advice to kick the habit for life. Let's get to it!

Before your quit date.

Smoking Quit Tips #1: Have your mind made up.

Before you even go any further no tip in the world will help you unless you know it is time to finally quit. Don't stress or over think quitting, just do it! Believe me you will not miss them one bit after about 2 months of quitting.

Smoking Quit Tips #2: Pick your weapons.

Alright it's time to quit. Going cold turkey is doable but tougher than getting a little help. There are many products on the market today that double and triple your chances of success. If you want a little help pick one of the 3 below. Some of the products are better for some than others. Look at the side effects, your personality, and consult your doctor and former smokers when choosing the weapon of your choice.

1) Nicotine Replacement Therapy - The 2 toughest parts of quitting smoking are the perceived lifestyle change and nicotine cravings. Taking Nicorette gum can help you with the second part. This product has proven to double your chances of success. Decide whether Nicorette is best for you.

2) Prescription Pills - There is a great pill out there called Chantax. This is what I used to kick my habit along with 2 of my family members. Not only does it suppress your nicotine cravings it actually makes smoking less satisfying. You don't even want a cigarette when taking this prescription. Another great characteristic about Chantex is that you wean off of cigarettes when first starting take the medication. You go through 10 days of taking the medication and cutting down on the amount of cigarettes you smoke before you even get to your Quit Date. There are side effects for some from this medication though. Some have very vivid dreams and others get nauseous. Decide whether Chantex is right for you.

3) The New kid on the Block. Electronic Cigarettes. - There is not much data or studies on the effectiveness of using an electronic cigarette to help quit smoking but initial claims have been encouraging and plentiful. You feel like you are smoking a real cigarette through the feel, heat, nicotine intake, and vapor that you breathe out but without all the harmful chemicals (tar & nicotine).

So do a little research and choose which one of the 3 quit smoking helpers you want by your side to help your chances of success.

Smoking Quit Tips #3: Set the day.

Pick a Monday or a day with significance to you like a birthday but make it sooner than later. A month out is a good point. Start a new week, a new person!

Smoking Quit Tips #4: Gradually cut down.

In the weeks leading up to that all important quit day start to smoke less. Getting below 10 cigarettes is best. This will lessen the psychological blow and nicotine cravings no matter how you plan to quit.

After your quit date.

Smoking Quit Tips #6: Throw it all out.

Within 3 days of your quit date throw out all proof of your past smoker life. Throw out any unused cigarettes, coupons, ashtrays, lighters, ashes, and butts. Get rid of it all. Maybe keep one lighter around for candles or the grill but that is it.

Smoking Quit Tips #5: Tell the World what you have done.

After the quit date tell family, friends, your doctor, and co-workers that you quit. This puts pressure on you to stay quit. Nobody likes to hear 2 weeks after quitting with a cigarette in your mouth, "Hey, I thought you quit? What happened. That didn't last long.". Having pressure not only from yourself but from the outside is effective.

Smoking Quit Tips #6: Avoid the triggers.

There were times when you wanted a cigarette more than others right? Then try to limit being in those situations the first couple of months.

If you always had a nicotine trigger after eating then do something else like suck on a hard piece of candy or chew some gum.

Try to limit the time you are around people who smoke. Being around other smokers will only make you want to do it yourself.

Did you especially like smoking when drinking? If you did then try to limit your drinking the first 2 months of quitting.

Smoking Quit Tips #7: Eat a little differently and Don't diet.

Start eating more fruits and vegetables. It gives you something to munch on and they are very low in fat. If you have the urge to eat more then fight the cravings with food that is less likely to cause weight gain.

Being on a diet is challenging. Being on a diet when you are quitting smoking is down right hard. Don't diet when your in the first 3 months of quitting. After you become a non smoker and don't even want a cigarette anymore get on the diet train.

Another way to fight oral cravings is to drink more water. Flush out the chemicals and toxins that are stored in your body from smoking by drinking more H2O.

Smoking Quit Tips #8: Take up exercising.

Exercise will lessen your cravings for cigarettes and make you healthier all around. You ended a bad habit now start a good one. Exercise will help you ward off possible weight gain too.

Smoking Quit Tips #9: Be strong. Stick with it.

That’s it. You are soon to be or already a non smoker. On the road to a more comfortable, affordable, healthier you.

Just put your mind to it. You can accomplish anything you set out to do. Be strong, be proud, and experience the awesome feeling of success.

You will thank yourself later and be feeling like a million bucks in no time.

Good Luck!
