SET entrance exam is basically a Symbiosis entrance test (SET). Symbiosis is now a brand in the private education sector in India offering undergraduate and postgraduate studies and now a deemed university. The school was started way back in 1971. At present, under its banner, it has many colleges, centres offering more than 40,000 Indian and international students studying on-campus.

The reason behind the popularity of the school is that it provides world-class education in its equally made state of the art campus, classrooms, laboratories, libraries that attract students from abroad. But the students must undergo various selection processes for the admission into this famous institute. And SET is one of them which is actually the full form of the Symbiosis entrance test.

Typically it is a national/India level entrance examination for studying in any one of the seven colleges of Symbiosis International University or SIU. Basically, the test is meant for the admission to various undergraduate courses like Liberal Arts, Economics, Culinary Arts, Design, Management, Engineering, Mass Communication.

Talking about SET-2021, it has three types SET (General), SLAT (SET-Law) and the third one is SITEEE (SET-Engineering).

Students who wish to study any of these undergraduate courses must appear for SET. The eligibility criteria is not difficult, just 50% aggregate score in class twelve (higher secondary) or equivalent examination.

The foreign students who wish to study here will have to fulfil some additional criteria. First of course they need to complete the 12th standard equivalent examination from any foreign board. A clearance certificate from the Association of Indian Universities (AIU) will be required however.

SET examination preparation

The examination is not too difficult to crack. The aspirants first need to understand the syllabus first and then practice as per it. The practice should include mock tests, solving ample sample papers and paper solving with a set time limit.

The question papers have the following, Analytical and Logical Reasoning, General English, Quantitative Aptitude, and General Awareness.
There is no negative marking and the aspirants can appear only in online mode.

The papers are not at all difficult to crack (because these are set with easy to moderate parameters) with regular and timely practice, right and smart dedicated efforts.
As per their choice, a student can attempt more than one SET exam for more than one course. But each course needs to be attempted separately. That is one SET for one course.

Post SET what next?

The successful SET students will have to appear for group discussion. This is followed by personal interviews. In fact SET is the first step. Each of the Symbiosis institutes has various other selection methods that follow SET and those who clear SET will have to go through the respective processes.
