Any focused mental activity is mano-yoga (meditation). But it has no benefit if it is done without a goal (dhyey) in mind. When you go to a train station do you not have to give the ticket master your destination for your ticket? Do you not have to give him the name of the station you want to go? People keep telling one, "Do dhyan (meditation). Do meditation." But at least tell us what we should meditate on (dhyey)! What is purpose and benefit of such relative meditation? The peace and happiness one attains from relative meditation will break the moment one's mother-in-law tells her, "You have no sense" or when one incure any loss, then all turmoil and agitation will start. These relative meditations will not get your 'work' done; they will not give you eternal bliss.

This relative dhyan (meditation) is temporary and helpful to increase concentration. The other is the real dhyan and it can only be attained from the Gnani Purush; the real dhyan will give you permanent peace. Read on to know this real dhyan...
How can Yoga and Meditation help in Self Realization ?
Chanting mantras, yoga, meditation, chakra meditation, fasting, penance, meditating upon a light, concentrating on breath, kundalini yoga are all tools to keep the mind, inner complainers in control. They are merely tools until one attain Self realization. They are not the ultimate goal. A person will experience happiness for the duration he remains engrossed in this and when it passes, he is back to where he started. Only when the mind remains constantly under control, it can be considered cured.
Nirvikalp samadhi means the state of absolute unaffectedness amidst all stresses within thoughts, speech and acts. Only Gnani is in such samadhi where no mental or physical circumstances can affect him nor create any vibration. And above all, Gnani alone can place the true Meditation of Self in your hand.
Let the spiritual master Param Pujya Dadashri reveal the true yoga, meditation and bestows upon you the ultimate Self-realization.
