Are you an aspiring network marketer struggling to make ends meet? Are you wondering where you went wrong? Well, have I got some news for you. I do not know if you have received any formal training in MLM, but you may want to stick around because I will be sharing with you three costly mistakes that some network marketers make in their business ventures. I hope you will have a better understanding of these mistakes by the end of the article. Also, if you have made any of these mistakes before, I hope you will correct them and learn from them. So without further ado, let me dive right in!

There is a saying that goes, “if you fail to plan, you plan to fail”. This is so true. Before you embark on your journey as a network marketer, you need to have a game plan. Otherwise, you may end up lost. It is like saying there is a game of basketball but there is no scoring basket for you to score. That is quite pointless, don’t you think? You can go for all the training in MLM you want but without having a clear sense of direction, your efforts will be futile. What you should do is set some goals for yourself. Ask yourself questions like “where do I see myself one year from now” and “what are my expectations of this business venture”. Don’t end up wondering what you want to achieve from your network marketing business. Plan your goals today!

The next thing to check is whether you have the relevant skills to be a successful network marketer. Now if you are totally new in network marketing, you probably do not have all the skills that you need to bring you success. Hence, I would encourage you to look for training in MLM in the form of classes, materials and one-to-one coaching sessions. Train yourself in areas pertaining to communication, emotional quotient, confidence and developing a positive mindset. These are vital skills that you ought to possess. Having a weak foundation in any of these skills could result in the lack of success.

The last thing I would like to point out is that this business venture still involves marketing. Now, let me ask you, what is marketing? To me, marketing is about solving people’s problems. If you are marketing weight loss products, you need to place emphasis on your prospects’ problem (excessive weight or obesity) and then point them to the solution, which is your product. However, you need to highlight how the product can solve the problem, not brag about the features of the product. People constantly have the frame of mind that says “what’s in it for me” so you need to answer that question when you are marketing your products or services. If you spend too much time on just the features and not the benefits, you may annoy your prospects.

I hope you now have a better understanding of the mistakes that some network marketers make. Whether you have received formal training in MLM or not, I do hope you will apply what you have learnt to your own network marketing business.
