The holidays are such a busy time, that many job searchers think it’s not a good time to find a job. Don’t make the mistake of putting your job search on hold during this time of the year. Many firms start their Q1 Recruiting around this time of the year. The beginning of the new year is often rich with fresh budgets, new contracts and new ideas- which means more room for hiring new associates, paralegals and legal clerks. With so many people taking time off from the job search, this may give you the upper hand!

Employers may be a little more difficult to get a hold of at this time of the year, but there are still things you can do to get their attention:

1. Tweet them! Many recruiters, attorneys, and law firms are on Twitter, even if they’re not in the office. Engage them and make them interested in what you have to say (Follow @Lawmatch for the best of them!)
2. Send a holiday card, and mention you’re going to be forwarding a resume soon.
3. Stop by the office to personally drop off your resume and maybe even a box of chocolates! It’s often a more relaxed time of the year in the office. You can introduce yourself, and make an impression.
4. Holiday parties are a great place to network. Make it known that you’re searching and get business cards and exchange emails.
5. Update your resume and post it on Lawmatch. Set up a free job seeker account, post your resume and help direct prospective employers right to your resume.
