If there was a book today written similar to the Bible containing life stories of people in our generations, who do we believe would be in that book? Who do we know who has lived for God and made a difference? Whose lives have been examples to many because they let God lead their lives? Have we done the things God has asked us to do?

Psalm 71:7 “My life is an example to many, because you have been my strength and protection.”

Many of us would be in the book as worriers. We are the ones who look at everything as a problem. We think only bad things happen to us. We worry because we can’t handle and control everything and everyone in our lives, and we are right. We can’t handle and control things and make them turn out our way. That is why worriers stay miserable. They need to give it all to God to handle.

Philippians 4:6 “Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done.”

There are others of us who will be in the book as warriors. We are the ones who look at everything in life as challenge. We take on things and handle them in our own way rather than God’s way. We may move too quickly because we are afraid if we don’t take control someone else will and it won’t be handled our way. Sometimes we see everything as a challenge to take what we can get and conquer anything that gets in our way. God will fight our battles for us.

Jeremiah 20:11“But the Lord stands beside me like a great warrior. Before him my persecutors will stumble. They cannot defeat me. They will fail and be thoroughly humiliated. Their dishonor will never be forgotten.”

Then there are worshipers. These people go to God in all they do. They know God is in the midst of everything and are able to let go so God can handle all situations in life. These people take control in situations but they take control allowing God to speak to them. They don’t worry because they know God will take care of things. They don’t take control and try to figure things out on their own because they know God’s way is the best way.

John 4:23-24 “But the time is coming—indeed it’s here now—when true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and in truth. The Father is looking for those who will worship him that way. For God is Spirit, so those who worship him must worship in spirit and in truth.”

In order for us to move from worriers or warriors to worshipers, we must do three things. The first is to give God control over our lives, our present and future. The second is to take action on the things we know God wants us to do. The third is to build our relationship with Him so we are able to give Him the things we know we can’t control to handle and also give Him the things we think we can control. He wants it all.

If there were a book written today containing stories of our lives for others to read in future generations and learn from, what do we want our story to be like? We have the control to make our story one that others can learn from. It doesn’t mean we have to be controlling or worry about things, it means we can make the right decisions giving God our issues and allowing Him to handle things.

When we take our life and learn to make better decisions, we can give up the worries and the battles. When we give our life to God and worship Him in spirit and truth, we can be grateful for all the challenges He allows us to have whether they are good or bad knowing we have lessons to learn. Those lessons will become stories to tell. Those stories will become examples for others. And that is how we can make a difference.
