I was on the treadmill, one mile into my two-mile run. Once I finished, I would get on a bike and ride for ten miles, then back to the treadmill for another two miles. Running doesn't come easy to me. Frankly, neither does biking. I signed up for the duathlon at my gym as a challenge. I needed a goal and the accountability to get me back on the track.

Time Management 101…NOT!

Time management 101 tells us that we should figure out how long something will take us to do and block out the time to do it. Makes sense on the face of it. What bothers me with this way of thinking is that it puts the project in control of your "time budget" instead of you deciding how you are going to spend your "time budget". I prefer to decide how much time I want to GIVE TO a project based on what I believe the project is worth to me. This is what we do with money, which we can get more of, but we don't do it with our time, which is finite.

I participated in a "painting party" with seventy business owners. Painting has never been my thing. I don’t see myself as artistic. And creating an image by drawing, painting, sketching or anything else like that makes me uncomfortable. There were rows of tables and easels. Each seat had paint, brushes and an apron. We did it! It’s finally springtime, my favorite time of year! Here in New Jersey we experience very distinct seasons and during the winter everything dies, or at least it looks like it does. My clients tell me of a love/hate relationship with systems. The love part comes because systems make things easier. The results are predictable, you know what you need to do and know where all the things you need to do it are. The hate part comes because there is a belief (which I disagree with) that systems lock you in and don't leave room for creativity. It All Comes Down to Perspectives

I took a picture out of the hotel window. When I look at it I see about two inches of snow, no big deal. Here’s a little more information. The picture was taken from my hotel in Atlanta, Georgia, the week of January 26th. Atlanta doesn’t see much snow. What to me looks like a dusting of snow, (I mean, you can’t even build a snowman with it) led Georgia to declare a state of emergency. Highways were impassible. There were accidents and abandoned cars everywhere. Schools closed early, and because of the roads, some the kids ended up sleeping at school or on freezing cold school buses.
