Are you one of those people that enjoy traveling alone? Many of us that like to have company on our travels may envy those people that do. When you want to travel but don't have a companion to vacation with you can miss out on some good times. I happen to know several people that even though they have numerous friends they choose to book into a resort, take a cruise or an adventure trip alone.
As we get older and life has taken a few twists and turns we often find ourselves past the stage of striving for materialistic possessions. We are searching for something more meaningful. We want to feel passionate about something. It’s been said that if we don’t know what our passion is and want to find it that we need to find out what most interested us between the ages of around 7 to 10 years of age. That what interested at that age will often be our real passion. I have to admit that with a number of people I know this appears to be quite true.
Wherever you are in your life right now if it’s not where you want to be it’s never too late to pick up the pieces and start afresh. Some of us go through more challenges than we ever think we can manage, but it’s amazing just how resilient we are when push comes to shove. You may find yourself in a totally different situation in your relationship than you could have ever imagined. Maybe you are alone again and finding difficulty in getting back into the mindset of a single person, and thinking more about what you want and what’s best for you.
The Baby Boomer demographics are considered those born at the end of World War 2 through to 1964. With such a huge number of the population in this group it makes you think about the type of issues that Baby Boomers are now dealing with. On one hand the older group may already be retired or close to retiring. Many of the younger group may still have young children to bring up.
There are so many single Baby Boomers that are lonely and want to have a relationship, and yet they do not connect with other singles. There are those that make absolutely no effort to make contact with anyone else. They will often be adamant that they are not one bit interested in meeting someone for a potential relationship.
Working from home isn’t for everyone, but once tried some people wouldn’t have it any other way, and others are forced by circumstances. If you have experienced working from home, unless you are really disciplined and have set yourself a daily schedule you will know that it is very easy to get sidetracked and lose focus.
Those that plan ahead are more likely to enjoy their golden years. You can never start planning for your retirement too early. Unfortunately many in the workforce are not taking the importance of financial planning seriously enough, so when the time comes to retire many have little or no savings and are still carrying considerable debt.
Many Baby Boomers find themselves alone at a time when they are ready to fully enjoy life. If they are a parent, often their children are at an age where they are no longer as dependent on them. Baby Boomers may be at the prime of their career and are established enough to do a lot of the things that they’ve wanted to do, but do they really want to do it alone? Regardless of what people say about being single, most want to be in a loving, established relationship. While some singles will jump into the first relationship that comes their way, others become very jaded and guarded.
Baby Boomers have a lot of changes to contend with. There are some pretty major events, especially turning 50 and then the big 60. Plus many are coming up for retirement before too long, but one major event in a family is coming to terms with an empty nest. Even if you have sometimes wished for the day when you’ll have peace and quiet in your home most parents really dread the time when their children will finally leave home with the intention of not returning to live in the family home again.
Living life as a retiree today could well be quite different to what you had planned. Normally when you would think of retirement you'd think of travel, time for relaxation and fun. Taking up new or old hobbies and interests and a time for you as a reward for all our hard work. It seems that there are very few if any countries that are not being affected by the economic downtu which has caused havoc with many savings plans, retirement investments, and pension plans as well as personal real estate. Security as you may have known it seems to be a thing of the past for many.
Taking your 50’s in their stride. Most people have a fear of aging so by the time they reach 50 many are quite paranoid when they need not be. As a matter of fact if you have the right attitude and desire your fifties could be some of the best years of your life. By this time you don’t usually have as many hang ups as you did when you were younger. You have learned that so many of the things that used to bother you no longer do. You are more willing to let things go.
Each New Year that looms before has most of us pondering over the events of the past year. We think about what was good about it and what we wish that we could have changed.
How many times have you heard the phrase old age doesn’t come alone! It’s so true and many over 50s can attest to this. Hair starts to thin or disappear altogether, wearing glasses or contact lenses are a given, and a lot of people find that they are having to turn the volume up a bit more on the TV.
The aging process is a given it is going to happen! However, you do have some control of how soon you will let it happen. There are so many ways to maintain a more youthful you. If you just give in to the signs of aging without a battle the chances are you are going to look and feel older than someone that has taken a stand by refusing to accept that they have no choice in the matter.
Your relationship with your spouse can change over the years; it can go through a number of cycles. In the beginning when you first became a couple you probably wanted to be together constantly. When things progress with the relationship to making a life together this means lots of changes. With this life change come a lot of extra responsibilities. This stage for most includes having children, buying and maintaining a home for your family, also finding and keeping a job to pay for it all. With so much responsibility the relationship and the couple often get lost amidst it all.
Most of us have stress around the holidays. For some it’s the sort of stress caused from being more busy than usual with the extra shopping, cooking, and the extra expenses. Most feel they do not have enough time or enough money to do what needs to be done.
