I'm sure you think it's odd that I am encouraging you to Make Some Mistakes , but think about it – haven't you learned invaluable lessons from what you judged as "mistakes"? I have learned so much from the mistakes I have made in the past, that I no longer even call them "mistakes" – that sounds too negative to me. I…

The New Year is fast approaching, and I keep hearing people talk about what they are "stopping" or what they are "not going to do" anymore or what they need to "get rid of" in their lives. When was the last time you were quiet enough to really feel your pulse, to notice the rhythm of your body, and hear your heart's messages? Time is my most valuable asset right now. I wish I had more of it and I've wasted too much of it (tap tap tap). So I have made an effort to just Cut to the Chase more often. What exactly are "seeds"? Seeds come in the form of thoughts, beliefs, and even conversations that you are having with yourself and others. When I work with new clients, I’m always interested in why they have chosen to learn and use EFT. The answer is usually in the negative, “I’m very ill”, “I’m overweight”, “I procrastinate”, or “I don’t have enough money in my life”, etc. As a result of this, I changed one of the questions on my client intake form to read ‘What are your expectations of EFT?’ This ensures the client focuses on what she would like to accomplish rather than what is going wrong in her life. Sometimes it’s easier to give attention to what we don’t want in our lives, rather than what we do want.
Are you one of those people who is constantly doing things for others, while always putting yourself at the bottom of your own list of priorities? If so, it’s time to look at how you move yourself to the top of the list, where you belong. When you consistently put others ahead of yourself, putting all your energy into doing for them, by the time that you get to yourself, you’ve used up all your energy. There is a big difference between being selfish and recognizing that you are important too.
It's that time of year when it's easy to become overwhelmed by what needs to be accomplished. EFT not only enables us to feel more relaxed and in control very quickly (which inevitably leads to clarity), it can also be used as a preventative tool. If we anticipate what might happen, we can tap on those conce s ahead of time. For example, there are many reasons why Christmas is not a relaxing, joyful time for some people: family gatherings can become dreaded occassions; gift buying can be expensive and stressful, and with an abundance of food around, it is easy to overindulge.
Forgiveness can be a contentious topic. When someone has wronged you, and you’re carrying a lot of hurt and anger at that person, others around you will tell you that you need to forgive. Forgiveness means different things to different people. To some, forgiving means absolving someone of guilt for something they have done. For many others, including myself, forgiveness does not mean that you’re saying that the person who hurt you is absolved of guilt. It means that you realize that in order to live your life, you need to emotionally let go of what may have been holding you back.
I have asked countless number of children “Is getting mad bad?” Very close to 100% answered yes. This has made me very curious as to the message we are presenting to children about anger. It has made me wonder how we adults express our anger and how that affects our children’s perspective that mad is bad. While talking to children about anger I speak to the important role anger plays in our lives. Anger lets us know that something is wrong. It is a signal that we are hurt, scared, or frustrated, our rights are being violated, or our needs are not being met.
The same principles apply to all areas of receiving, wheter it is love, money or fulfillment in work or lifestyle. There are many people who say "change your thinking, and change your life" and while that is true, EFT or Emotional Freedom Techniques makes change easier and faster than anything I have seen in thirty years of searching. I am always looking for ways to simplify Spiritual practices and Laws such as the Law of Attraction.
Chronic pain is the body's way of informing us that it is not at peace; it is diseased. It is also a guaranteed way of getting our attention. An enormously effective, safe and non-intrusive way we can respond to pain is by applying Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT). In fact, one of the much-publicised benefits of EFT is pain relief. As an EFT Practitioner, and Progressive Emotional Release (Pro-ER) Practitioner specialising in serious illness, I work with people experiencing chronic physical, emotional, or mental pain on a daily basis.
Have you ever met someone that seemed nice enough on the surface, but the two of you just didn’t make a connection? Or, perhaps the opposite is true. You met someone that was completely different from you and you felt an instant connection? Our reactions to others are based on many different aspects. We react to others based on our current mood and attitude, the time of day, the environment we are in and our past experiences. We respond to others based on their appearance, their body language and the sound of their voice.
Long before I was seriously ill, I often had a sense that I felt emotions more deeply and painfully than many of my friends and colleagues. Things seemed to roll off their backs, while I became greatly affected in some way by what I'd seen or heard. I easily picked up on how others were feeling, and their energies affected my own. I was forever conce ed about what the people around me were undergoing: had I said or done something to offend them, and what did that look they just gave me actually mean? It was important for me to put others' needs before my own.
1. Pretend to yawn – and welcome the real one that will inevitably follow ! (Not for use during corporate meetings…) 2. When working long hours on the computer, make sure you take a break at least every hour. Stand up, stretch, drink some water, yawn… Use a friendly timer if you tend to forget the time… 3. Take a quick walk outside to get some fresh air – and practice harbouring ONLY positive thoughts while you do ! 4. Place water bottles all over the place in strategic spots to help you remember to rehydrate regularly throughout the day 5.
Recently, I worked with a young man in his early 20’s who had just started a new job. Peter was very excited about his job- it was his first step in building a career for himself after graduating from college. He had been hired as an assistant manager for a retail chain and he could hardly contain his enthusiasm. The reaso Peter called me was, although, he loved his new job, he was having a hard time with the “managing” part.
When we are struggling to overcome a chronic illness or chronic pain, our lives become very focused on what is wrong, and the steps we need to take in order to recover. Our lives may consist of appointments with doctors, specialists, therapists, and various practitioners. In fact, we may feel as though the life we once knew has vanished, or at the very most, been put on hold. Our conversations and our thoughts revolve around how we're going to make it through the next week, month or year and what we need to do in order to make it as smooth as possible.
Usually when we think of clutter, we're referring to stuff seeping out of basements and closets and garages. We all have things we don't use anymore, whether it's clothes, toys, old gifts, knickknacks, and odds and ends. Most of the time our clutter ends up in piles and we forget what is buried unde eath. Once upon a time our stuff was valuable, but over the years it starts to accumulate and leaves no room for new things. Maybe you have a dress hanging in your closet that w
Certainty is an Inner Game and You Can Win It! Why do you need to master inner certainty? Here's a few reasons: There's a lot of stuff going on in the world that's enough to freak you out. You're accustomed to looking around at the things you trust to be solid and stable to give you some semblance of security. You want to believe everything is going to be all right and that life as we know it is secure. 9/11 was the first big shake up. Though less top of mind, it's still heavy awareness of potential danger.
"Things do not change, we change." Henry David Thoreau Since we get what we think about, talk about, focus on, say to ourselves and believe about ourselves, we first need to become aware of what we are thinking and saying on a regular basis. Are you in the habit of putting yourself down? Are ...
When I was severely ill with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS), the one constant factor in my somewhat restricted life was the unequivocal support I was given by my parents and my husband. If I hadn't received their love and encouragement on a daily basis, I know the journey would have been far tougher and more desperate at times.
EFT is most often thought of as a way of dealing with emotional or physical problems, and part of the tapping process is to name and tap on the negative emotions that you feel around any given situation. What many people don’t realize, however, is that EFT can also be used to intensify the good feelings you experience. For most of us, listening to music brings back memories. Most often they are good memories of happy times, the kinds of memories that make you smile and look back with nostalgia.

What comes to mind when you think about your immune system? Do you think about an army of special cells, proteins, tissues, and organs ready to go to battle to defend you from organisms and substances that invade your system and cause disease? Do you visualize little Pac-Men like creatures gobbling up all the little buggies? How about cancer? Did just reading the word flame the fire of fear? Say these words out loud right now: "I have cancer." How did your body react? Did your heart race? Face flush? Shoulders tense?
Here’s a great story I wanted to pass along to share how I was able to save an acquaintance $500 with 20 minutes of EFT! I was visiting “Nancy’s” shop one day and she was complaining to me about the stress in her life. She was recently married, her former boss was suing her for a non-compete and she had just opened up her own shop. As a result of all of this stress, she was grinding her teeth. Her dentist informed her it would cost $500 to buy the necessary “bite guard” to protect her teeth from future grinding.
As parents, most of us feel it our duty to protect our children from harm. We can, and should, take all precautionary measures to prevent injury to our children and teach them safety practices and self care. However, protecting them from the natural ebb and flow of life can leave them ill equipped to successfully manage adversity, loss, failure, conflict or disappointment. Like it or not, life is not always predictable or smooth. In fact, the one thing that is predictable is that life will be a roller coaster of ups and downs, highs and lows, calm and storm.
Not liking ourselves is an issue for many of us. Even though we may project a different face to the world, deep down inside far too many of us don’t like ourselves very much. It seems to always be easier to find things to criticize about ourselves than to find things to praise. How often have you found yourself making some kind of silly mistake, and then saying to yourself, inside your head, “You big idiot!”? Self talk is a definite indicator of how well we like or don’t like ourselves.
Recently I was leading a small group of tappers in weekly tap-togethers. Once of our main objectives was to try eliminating unhealthy junk food from our diets. When you have a weakness for a certain kind of snack food, it can be incredibly difficult to not eat that particular kind of food.
Though I’ve been utilizing EFT as my main treatment modality in my psychotherapy practice for 7 years, I still can get blown away by the near miraculous results. I’d like to share a recent case with you that really made my heart soar. Mind you, this is a complicated case and continues to be a work in progress. Matthew (not his real name) is an adorable 8 year old boy, who was born with several birth defects, is developmentally delayed, has TICS associated with Tourette Syndrome, Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS), and has issues with ADD.
