Hi. My name is Ellen DuBois, Host of MiscarriageHelp.com and author of I Never Held You, a book about miscarriage, grief, healing and recovery with commentaries by Dr. Linda R. Backman, (author of Bringing Your Soul to Light). I've been hosting MiscarriageHelp.com for over three years, and am grateful for the opportunity to provide a safe place for women and their families to connect, share, and continue on their healing journeys.
Love, Light and Blessings,
Ellen
Had anyone told someone told me some eighteen-years ago I'd be hosting a miscarriage support site, I would've looked at them like they had two heads. I was so caught up in a very silent, dark and isolating grief. I remained that way for years. Anxiety attacks became a regular part of my life, too. I believe it (the anxiety attacks) were due to the trauma of miscarriage, divorce, and the loss of sight in my left eye. However, that's another story...and we all have them.
Eleven years after I lost my son to miscarriage, I felt a profound need, almost a calling if you will, to write about what helped me heal, and what didn't. I felt guided to write- and believe a Power much greater than myself wanted me to do this.
Why? Miscarriage awareness is still lacking. Because of that, there are countless women walking around feeling like they're 'going crazy' or 'losing it' for feeling like they do after miscarrying. I am here, in part, to assure women they are not alone on their paths after miscarriage. Their grief is real and needs validation. I know the baby they lost was real and very much loved.
So, what began as a small e-book in 2004 grew into a longer, expanded paperback in 2006. I have been hosting MiscarriageHelp.com, the support/companion site to my book ever since. It's a road I wouldn't trade for anything. Adversity planted me there- and I could use it to help others... or not.
So many of us seem to learn life's greatest lessons through adversity. During those times we don't often see what purpose all the pain serves. Later, when the sun shines upon our lives and hearts again, we see with greater clarity part of the much larger plan for our lives.
Thanks for stopping by. To all those who have lost a baby to miscarriage, I am so sorry for your loss.
God Bless-
Ellen
