When I was young my mother used to repeat a familiar saying… “Birds of a feather all flock together.” Generally she used this saying when she did not want me to date a certain person. Someone she felt was too old for me, or too wild, or too whatever! Of course I thought she was just being strict and didn’t really know what she was talking about. When I became a mother all that old fashioned advice suddenly made perfect sense. In fact it was then when I realized how many times she saved me from taking a wrong path. Sound familiar?

Coaching has been one of the fastest growing professions over the last decade or so. Both businesses and individuals have experienced great benefits from using a coach. Why? It’s often quite difficult to figure out how to solve a problematic situation when you are in the middle of the problem, ...
You’ve probably read or heard that you should have your manuscript edited. Do you agree or disagree with that statement?
Let’s start with what is for some writers akin to a four-letter word: Outline. Yes, there are successful authors—and I do mean best-selling authors—whose practice is to let their fingers fly and write by the seat of their pants (known as pantsers), but they are few in number. These authors may seem like they’re winging it. They aren’t. They have years (or decades) of practice built upon a foundation of knowledge about technical and creative principles of the writing craft.
One of the most important traits of all motivators at work is consideration. Employees report that the best managers they ever had were people who cared about them as people and as friends. These managers took the time to ask them questions about their lives, and to listen patiently while they ...
Attitude is a choice. Women are confronted daily with situations, words, outcomes that force them to choose a response. That response is based decidedly on their attitude. Attitude is the difference between winning the battles, but losing the war. How many times have you realized that your attitude saved a business deal, a relationship, or your life?
The most damaging restrictions on a creative person's freedom are self-imposed. What may have started out as a new idea, a new methodology, becomes routine, a habit, after awhile. Are you a champion procrastinator? Some of us are such talented and accomplished procrastinators that we really should get an award. Honestly, we can be so creative! Where others see a pile of paperwork, we see another game of Solitaire. Dirty dishes in the sink? Thatâs just a sign itâs time to paint your nails. Feeling a little wince of recognition? Me too. I think maybe weâre all born procrastinators. So, itâs up to us to learn a few skills, so we can be productive
Do you wake every day, move through your day, and go to bed with problems on your mind? Maybe you’d like to do something about that right now. What can you do that’s quick? Reframe the problem or your perceptions about it to make a difference, even if just a small shift at first. I listened to an interview with Marcia Wieder and she said something like, “Life is not meant to be just about addressing problems.” How often you might feel that your days are all about problems! Maybe thinking that way has become a habit.
Christian, my stepson, is quite young, just nine now. Particularly for his age, he has a very eclectic taste in music. He constantly brags about how he loves that he has learned so much about music. But it is we that have learned so much about music. Music is one part of the glue that bonds us, even though his mother and I are no longer together. Music provides a soundtrack to our lives and we can use music to not only bring us back to important moments, but to shape the moments of our futures.
Is your privacy extremely important to you? Do you live in or work in an environment where your boundaries are often ignored or crossed? Does the thought of someone reading your diary or journal terrify you? One of the more humorous representations of the ramifications of this is portrayed in Everyone Loves Raymond. His Mother Marie found, broke the code and read his journal. In it she found the words, “I ehat ym mmo! (I hate my mom)”.
Do you ever wonder if you’re on the right road of your life? If this is or has been your experience, how did you manage yourself? A friend and I took a road trip using her GPS to get us from New York City to Louisiana. We wanted to beat the anticipated July Fourth traffic, so left Thursday evening and drove until we stopped for the night.
Introduction Every successful person has failed many more times than they have succeeded. Being a person who is focused on personal goals in life and is mission-orientated, you will inevitably fail over and over all the way as you progress to fulï¬lling your WHY! The key is to truly understand that you WILL fail as you progress to the top. As soon as you realize every failure is a stepping stone to the top and that the more stones you have in place the higher your success le
I once wrote that beliefs change, Truths never do. But how can we know which is which; and, why should we conce ourselves with the difference?
I was talking to a friend of mine last week and she said, “If worrying worked, I’d weigh 115 pounds and be a millionaire by now.” I laughed out loud – appreciating her humor and insight. Worrying, which is something I’ve spent and wasted a lot of time and energy on throughout my life, never seems to work, does it? Worry is actually detrimental to our health, well-being, and our ability to manifest both the things and feelings we truly want in life.
There’s a lot involved in becoming a self-published or traditionally published author, but there’s nothing like seeing your efforts in a paperback or hardback copy you hold in your hands. Your dream becomes your reality, and it’s a feeling of accomplishment you don’t soon forget. But it’s also a process that involves many steps, as well as costs that new writers need to be aware of.
FALLING INTO JOY! Things just have not been going well at work lately. That new employee is kissing up to the boss something fierce, and the boss eating it up. You can see your shot at the next promotion going swiftly down the drain. Your “task list” (who comes up with these PC cover-ups for ...
Prosperity consciousness is a way of thinking that gives you more power over what you have in your life. It’s a concept made popular by New Age thinking, but a principle that’s been around for a very long time. Developing your prosperity consciousness requires a few key things that once you truly understand, can change your life.

The Yeast to Rise When God gives you a seed, He does not want that seed back; He wants a forest. He wants you to plant and grow that seed with the ability He gave you. Myles Munroe Use the talents you possess, the wood would be very silent if no birds sang except the best. For those who are ready to journey the ability inside always find place for demonstration and display. Find out what you want, and then set your goals in line with your ability. Be ready to put hard smart work into your system. Do what you have the gift for.
Happiness will be elusive as long as a man or woman builds their self-image or worth based on what they do and how much money they make. I read an article this weekend in The New York Times Magazine bemoaning the fact that many men are losing their self-worth because their “macho” jobs are going away and their wives are making more money than they are. Mind you, it’s not that they can’t find work; they just don’t want to do service jobs that they consider “women’s work,” such as teaching.
The success formula, R=IOT, Repetition = Imprint Over Time, can be used to enhance, shape and transform your personal growth, so you experience more love, joy, contentment as well as alleviate stress from your daily life and attract more of the good you desire to experience. Let's look closer at how this is done. Much of our joys and sorrows come as a result of the way we look at and think about things. One person may experience an adverse situation that causes him to look for the positive out of it, learn from it, grow from it and ultimately use this experience to his advantage.
Visualization is one of the most powerful tools we have to make our dreams become a reality. It is a daily ritual of mine and I have manifested some pretty amazing things and circumstances into my life since I began practicing the art of visualization. However, if I had not acted upon that which I was visualizing, the manifestation would surely have stood me up. Most of us have heard the phrase “Thoughts become things”. What it should say is, "Thoughts followed by action, become things." Without action, all thought remains within the confines our imaginations.
I'm really not certain when or where the change happened, but it did! Somewhere in the last twelve months of my life... I stopped being the Tim, everybody knows. Bad things started to happen. Real bad! The kind of stuff you wouldn't wish on your worst enemy and they were happening in my ...
I saw Rev. Michael Beckwith perform a re-commitment ceremony for a married couple a few years back and it blew me away. He looked at the husband and said, “Your job is to be her biggest fan and her greatest critic for the purpose of her spiritual development.” He then turned to the wife and said the same thing to her about him. As simple of a concept as this was for me to understand, I’d never heard anyone say it quite like that before. As what he said fully registered with me, I was moved deeply and began to cry.
Do you ever feel inauthentic, like you wear a mask over what you believe you know, or fear, about who you really are? The trinity can help you follow the path to your authentic-self destination. I read Flip the S.W.I.T.C.H. (How to Turn On and Turn Up Your Mindset) by PJ McClure, The Mindset Maven, which he gives away on his website. I don’t want to spoil your experience of reading PJ’s brilliant book by recounting his content, nor is this a review. But, he did get me thinking about what I consider the trinity of self-realization and authenticity: Attitude, Mindset, and Personal Truth.
It’s a bright sunny day. Well, it’s a sunny day. It started out bright, but now as you sneeze, cough and ache your way increasingly through the hours, the day is getting duller and duller. You make it through your work and drag yourself home. “How ya feeling, Hon?” your devoted Significant Other ...

Let me tell you a little story about a rhinoceros in a zoo: This rhinoceros had a small enclosure where he paced along the same path day after day until he wore a path in the dirt. The zoo keepers felt sorry for him and expanded the enclosure to give him more space to move around in. After the addition was built, the zoo keepers headed home for the night.
I learned about a great bumper sticker: “Life isn’t about finding yourself. It’s about creating yourself.” The same day I saw the bumper sticker phrase, I got an email from a friend telling me about how life is not working and the reasons why. I didn’t find one “can” in there or “I intend.” ...
All fiction writers have much to pay attention to in order to create a reader-worthy novel. Something significant new fiction writers sometimes forget to pay attention to are the details.
There is a lot to keep in mind when you write a novel, memoir, or other non-fiction book. Enthusiasm is great to have and necessary for getting that first draft and subsequent revisions done. But here are some common issues I frequently see in manuscripts from clients. Are any of them ones you need to watch for? Let’s look at some technical matters.
The year has barely begun, but for some couples, it can be the time for endings. Here are two reasons relationships end more often in the first four weeks of the year: 1) The New Year is often a time of reflection, looking back at years gone by and evaluating if you are happy with the decisions you have made - and if not, what your choices are at this time.r
During one of her shows a few years back, Oprah Winfrey made a profound and beautiful statement that I appreciated very much. She said, “We do shows about lots of ‘stuff’ and my ‘favorite things,’ but what people want more than anything else is to know that they’re appreciated...that’s the best gift of all.” At this time of year it's easy for us to get caught up in the stress of getting everything on our “list” crossed off, preparing for parties and events, and rushing around to buy gifts.
Get Out Of Your Own Way By Chuck Danes Do you ever think about how unfair life is? Do you often allow your emotions to get the best of you? Do you ever allow fear and anxiety to fill you, bind you up, paralyze you, and keep you from achieving all that you know down deep is yours? If any of ...
For most people, the idea of seeking professional counseling is likely to be very intimidating and even unsettling. But if your problems are severe, have persisted for some time, or your personal efforts have been ineffective, it is advisable and advantageous to seek professional help. How do ...
Recently I came across the Dalai Lama’s “18 Rules of Living,” which he shared with the world at the beginning of the new millennium. Here, 18 years later, it seemed relevant to revisit them. In particular, I was struck by his rule: “Judge your success by what you had to give up in order to get it.” At first I thought, “What?” As women, for example, many of us had been told umpteen times that we couldn’t have both a thriving family life and a successful career. Fortunately, t
I've been re-reading Tim Ferriss' great book The Four Hour Workweek, which has been expanding my mind and giving me lots of great ideas. In the book, Ferriss states that "most people choose to be unhappy rather than uncertain."
You are more tha Conquerors Persistence makes you to stand your ground in Christ any day. It makes you to stand for the cause you believe. It brings you into the realm of not turning back from your assignment. It makes you to forgo pleasure and endure to the end for the crown set for the race in your career, in your marriage and family, in your business, in your life and ministry: Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? Romans 8:35.
This really struck me the other day, when I left a message on Facebook basically saying that today was a great day and I am so excited about what the next five years look like. I received a response from a friend of mine in the morning who ask for my "crystal ball". This got me to thinking, do people really think that the mysterious answer to life can be found in a crystal ball? We all have the ability to change our future, but we cannot do it without altering the past. You s
I came to realise the numerous benefits of exercise at a very early age. So, I have made a commitment to myself that I will run every morning, from Monday to Friday. There is a football oval near my house where I go to, for a run in the mornings.
It happens between mothers and daughters, female coworkers, sisters and gal palsâwomen constantly comparing themselves to others. Whether consciously or unconsciously, most women question who is more beautiful, more successful, or has the most possessions. n nAt the root of a womanâs misguided beliefs lies female competition. While the idea of competition among women might bring to mind the dramatic makings of a Hollywood soap operaâcomplete with hair-pulling, name-call
At irregular intervals in our daily lives, we all encounter difficulty. Like many of the other contesting emotional experiences, the self-empowerment gained through embracing and learning from these moments of challenge can be exhilarating. We should not choose to cheat our INNERMOST POWERS by circumventing problems; rather we should apply our mental, physical and spiritual energy to the difficulty in-hand.
The most important conversation you will ever have is the one between you and You. The you that sees, smells, tastes, touches and hears (the here and now you) and the You that exists inside of you. Call the "Within You" whatever you like - life, consciousness, spirit, higher self, your subconscious mind... you know where I'm going with this yes? Yes.
We are all tested to find our persistence level. How dedicated are you to achieving your vision? Will you keep trying no matter how many times you get knocked down? Persistence is to the character of man as carbon is to steelr Napoleon Hill The basis of this is the power of your will. A combination of willpower, persistence and desire are needed to attain your goals. Know that you will achieve your goals, let no one deter you.

Could a lesson from Super Nanny apply to you and your personal and professional life? If you feel stressed and overwhelmed… yeah. The parents Super Nanny Jo Frost went to help were well-meaning—they wanted to give their children the best head start in life. Unfortunately, this meant not only school and homework hours for each child, but LOTS of additional activities to help them be well rounded individuals, as well. Super Nanny pointed out two things:r
