Women’s Health Alert: Are You Eating Right On the Job?

Performing on the job depends on many variables: our skill set, mindset, personality type, and attitude. At any moment, we may carry out any number of tasks that call on us to be able to think, move, and execute practically simultaneously. It's like we're in constant air traffic controller-mode having to complete one task (plane landing) while getting ready for the next (plane taking off), plus keeping our eye on the one that's a few hours away (plane approaching our air space).

Everything We Do Really Does Matter

Recently, I had a memorable experience at the grocery store, of all places! It was not the store I typically shop at, as it's about 20 minutes from my house, however on this particular day, it was conveniently located on my way home from an appointment. It was the store's busiest day and time of the week so there were at least 8-10 people working at the deli counter. I pushed the button for my number that would determine when it would be my turn to order and fortunately, there were quite a few people ahead of me so I was forced to wait.

The Rules

It's me, Cameron. So, being less than two, I guess you expect me to write about the rules of the sandbox. Well, you are partly correct. The rules of the sandbox are no different than the rules of the game, and the rules of the game are about the game of life. We were all born knowing the rules of life. As little kids we know and live the rules most of the time. Sure, we get selfish, and sometimes we don't share but, after all, we are human. The fact that we all violate the rules at times does not mean we don't know the rules.

Work from a Different Point of View

As you sit there in traffic, along with the gazillion other commuters all jammed together in motorized steel boxes grinding their way to work, you daydream. Wouldn’t it be nice, you think, if weekends were 5 days long and the work week was 2 days long. I mean, whoever came up with this ...

The LAW of MotionFirst = SUCCESS

I was doing a radio show last week, The Networking CEO, discussing how to win in the Trust and Value Economy, when the host, Patty Farmer, asked me why I named my business MotionFirst.rn rnI love that question! Because it gives me a chance to talk about one of my core beliefs, what I like to call the Law of MotionFirst. Yes, it is based on our good friend Sir Isaac Newton's law: An object in motion tends to stay in motion; an object at rest stays tends to stay at rest. Sir Is

Make It A Great Day

How often do you tell someone ‘Have a great day’, or receive the sentiment yourself? It is a nice sentiment to offer, but it could be better. ‘Have a great day’ implies that you only hope the day goes well. You don’t anticipate having a bad day, but one never knows… You are only hoping the day goes as planned, but you are prepared for the worst. You are open to the idea that things will go wrong. What if you improved your outlook a little, with only two words?

Seperated to be Elevated

If you are a Champion (and you are), then you will be promoted to greater and higher realms of leadership. Life has a way of elevating true Champions. Just as cream rises to the top of milk, true Champions rise to the top of companies, projects, and great events. When that happens, old relationships fall away. It can be emotional and difficult, but it’s part of the price of leadership. Champions must be separated from the crowd before they can be elevated into prominence. I o

Are you Contagious?

People around us will intentionally or unintentionally pick up things from us (from our behaviour, our words, our expressions, our connections with other people). Children are a prime example of this. They are very quick to pick something up from adults around them. I believe that it is purposeful to always be open to gaining and learning from other people. Having said that, what we choose to pick up from others, is purely at our discretion. I believe that we can be influenced by the negatives and positives in every individual.

The Power of Self-Discipline

Where self-control is more of an abstract concept, a mental exercise, self-discipline is a physical, actionable concept. Self-discipline is the basis of self-control and therefore without discipline no measure of self-control alone will bring you the success you desire. Has there ever been something you truly wanted, but every time you began on the path, you just could not seem to keep it up? Have you ever started a diet, for example, and after a few days, it’s as if you’ve totally forgotten about it? Why is that? A lack of self-discipline.

Creativity, Collaboration and Consensus

One thing that always strikes me when I experience or listen to people attempting to make joint decisions is that each person's perspective and choice is often presented as an either/or alternative. Everyone then proceeds to make a case for whatever it is that they are advocating, hoping to convince the other person(s) of the wisdom of their preference. Another version of that is when one person presents an idea or proposal and the other person(s) vetoes it based on their con

The Rarely Traveled Path to Likeability

Likeability is good for your relationship health. I’m reading “The Likeability Factor” by Tim Sanders, and he also gives lots of WIIFM (What’s In It For Me) reasons why one should choose to be likeable. It will impact your health, wealth and relationships — the “big three” for most people. I’m not finished with the book yet, so I can’t speak to all of his conclusions. I can say that he is witty, inspiring, and gives practical tips to being more “likable.”

Learning from Fear

About a year ago, I attended a personal development conference. One of the final exercises was about recognizing your power. We were asked to do the unthinkable. After signing all the appropriate liability release forms, we were broken into teams and each of us was given an arrow and a Sharpie. We were instructed to write on the arrow what we were afraid of. Then, we were to designate a team member who would hold said arrow at the soft spot in our throat and we were to walk forward until the arrow snapped.

How Candice Bergen Changed My Life

In a recent interview, actress Candice Bergen spoke about how her beauty, and the way others react to it, challenged her self-development, as no one seemed to care much about what she thought or her opinions. They were too bedazzled by her face. I can relate.
