Between The Ears “Life is a game played on a 5 inch course, the distance between your ears” As well move into a new year, the above statement is worth remembering, only because it is true. It is adapted from a quote Bobby Jones made about golf. I am often struck by the similarities between golf and life, and how many lessons learned through gold apply to life today. So what is 2011 going to be for you? To do the same thing repeatedly expecting a different outcome is, to me, the best simple definitio I know for insanity.r

The following tips are only valid if reviewed repeatedly because they are easily forgotten as we get busy ‘living’. They are clustered here mainly so that you can get a handle on them one at a time rather than try to decipher a whole book of philosophy or theories which leaves you lost and ...
My intention for the week was to feel replenished and to fill up my depleted reserves with the juice of the universe so that when I coached and as I lived, I would be of service rather than just going through motions, half asleep. Invitations to do other things tempted; a trip here, a party ...
First of all: Laugh out loud! When was the last time you had a really good belly-laugh? I mean the one where you are shaking uncontrollably with laughter and the tears are streaming down your face? I'm guessing that, for most of us, it's been a while. When we grow out of childhood, there don't seem to be that many things we find uncontrollably funny. So let's go find some! Make a note of five things that make you laugh out loud. For me that would include: Laurel & Hardy movies; Tom & Jerry cartoons; Bob Newhart video clips, Monty Python and Irish comedia Dara O'Briain.
Life is always changing. When life throws you changes that you like, they are usually easy to deal with and you look forward to the change. Changes that are indifferent to you are usually easy to cope with as well and you usually just go with the flow. But, how about the changes in life that you dread or that are unexpected; how do you handle those? Job loss is probably one of the most stressful changes in a person’s life today, especially now in the US. However, by looking at the situation differently, job loss doesn’t have to be stressful.

Actually it is not really a story about trains. Although it tells about them. Do you remember being the first time at a railway station? Well, the first time ever, I mean. A NEW YOU IN 2012? READY FOR CHANGE? Here we are, 9 days in to a new year and most things back to normal. By making a few simple adjustments in the way you view and react to your life's problems, you can quickly be on your way to eliminating the dilemma and living a better, healthier and happier life. It all starts by making a small "shift" in your attitude towards problem solving.

I am Just a Human Being I have been thinking about this a lot over the past year and I am wondering if anyone else feels this way. Are you tired of always being put into certain categories? For example, I am a 62 year old, so the government will categorized me into a Senior Citizen, a Caucasian, a Male, Middle Class, White Collar, a College Grad and who knows what other categories that I would fit into, according to the Government. When will I be listed as just a Human Being?

Just before I took my training in NLP I had a one of those brains that constantly switched a positive assertion into a unfavorable one. My childhood years full of sarcastic and harsh critical remarks had led me to think that to be cynical was to be wise. This mind-set towards myself and others was like a wealth-repellent for most of my entire life. I was so destroyed by an upbringing where I was belittled on a daily basis that I could not even take a compliment without saying
AM I INSANE? I had not thought this question out very well back in the 90’s. While I did crazy things, the life I was living would have indicated that at times I was nuts, but no one would have considered me insane. I had a responsible job, a family, a home, two or more cars, no debt, volunteered time to causes, etc. Yet a voice inside kept saying “Keith your nuts” and I fought it. Sure I drank too much at times and drugged some, sure I used other people to make me feel good; but then, wasn’t this “normal” for people in my position? The voice inside said “NOT”.r

In a recent Coaching event, I used this article as a key for understanding and reference. I worked with a team of writers, that for many reasons had not moved ahead from the place of having an idea on paper to the stage of actual manifestation of a written product. I found through our session that there was a common attitude and feeling; FEAR. I would like to revisit an article written a few years ago to remind readers that success is a part of our destiny. Success is right were you are!

Over the past 20 years plus I've work with thousands of men. Over these years men have confided in me about the traumas they experienced, the addictive behaviors they engaged in to numb these traumatic experiences, and the sex they dived into to escape their fears around intimacy and trust. Many of these same men, like myself, were running away and simultaneously attempting to gain 'control' over their lives.

All of my life I have been an exceptional sportsman and in fact, in my twenties and 30's I made a fantastic income and name for myself as a champion weight-lifter as well as an Iron Lady. Then, in my mid-thirties a slipped disc in my back meant a change of career. Quite quickly I found myself working as a fitness coach at a super-deluxe gym with very well-heeled but quite heavy clientele. As I aided these overweight women to whip their bodies back into shape I noticed a few
How do you love the work that you do? So often the work that you are doing doesn’t feel like it is necessarily your life’s purpose. And yet, you were drawn to this work. If you’re interested in finding work that is your life purpose, and you don’t feel like you are there yet, there is a way to get there. You need to actually begin to accept, appreciate, and honor the work that you do.
This is a discussion and topic that has been coming up a lot lately…at least it seems that way anyway. So what’s the difference between an intention and a goal? Aren’t they one in the same? Not really, but they are related and intertwined with one another. I like to think of an intention as the ...

Tonight is my first night out with a mom's group. As a single mom, I haven't done much since having my baby. I don't really know what to expect. I know I shouldn't have any expectations, but it's hard not to when you are going into an unfamiliar situation. I don't know any of the ladies that will be there, and just like anyone else, I'm a bit nervous.
December is a complex time of the year for many of us. It is a time of blessings and celebration but for many it is a time of loneliness and sadness fueled by anger or grief. My experience of joy and celebration at this time of year is always colored by the fact that my dear mother passed away at Christmas time. Even though it was over 40 years ago, I can still feel a twinge of sadness. I don’t mind.

As a Life Coach, this is where I find people. Great lives born out of negative pasts. If your past sucked, then you benefited and your life is better today because of it. Having a negative childhood is almost always the best thing that ever happens to someone. The contrast you experience gives you new desires, new ideas, and the energy you need to create the life you want. The negative past is a catalyst for profound change. In that way, it is great!! But your unwillingness to accept it and appreciate it becomes a barrier to the next level of happiness and peace.

As you change jobs and even careers, you will come to a realisation that people really come in many different colors. Many work as hard as you do and are even kind-hearted. Of course, you enjoy being and working with them. Unfortunately, there are also those who have negative personalities. The worst kind of people you will come across are the backstabbers.
A number of years ago "Jeff" came to me feeling shut down. He was in his early 50s, and felt nothing in his entire pelvic floor and stated he felt his feet were like wood, numb. He also reported feeling very little sensations throughout his body. He was partnered with a man about 20 years younger than himself. There was no sexual life between them. Jeff also was in recovery for over 20 some years. He reported to me that, since he entered recovery, he gradually began to feel numb all over.
MAKING A TOUGH DECISION No apologies to anyone. I believe that the "12 Steps" are a great model for good mental hygiene for EVERY HUMAN BEING. Have people had success dealing with a myriad of addictions using the steps? You bet they have. 12 step programmes have played a role in millions of people recovering from addiction. I can tell you first hand from client results; the foundation of the steps has helped not only "addicted" clients find a better life, but has helped clients suffering from chronic depression, self-esteem issues and a constant state of procrastination.
