Having a positive relationship with your boss ranks close to the top in evaluating job satisfaction for most people. Any of us who have been employed regularly for any length of time know that having a boss who “is just plain miserable” affects your desire to head to work in the morning and often how quickly you fall asleep at night. I’ve stayed up worrying many a night about having to work with a “not so likeable” boss.

And one that deserves an answer with some solid tips and solutions.

Some years ago, I called a dear friend of mine, Mary, to ask her advice. All I got was her answering machine, hour after hour. Alarmed that this usually accessible person didn’t seem to be available, I called her best friend, Amy. Together, we become more alarmed. Both of us started making calls to mutual friends, asking if they had see Mary. We then started looking at sites she might be visiting: coffee shops, cafes, stores. No Mary.
Along with joy and a feeling of connectedness to others, the holidays bring a rise in stress. Although most people over 30 experience a rise in stress over the holidays, according to the American Psychological Association, women are most likely to experience a sharp increase (44%) in stress, versus a 30% rise for men, as the bulk of the shopping, decorating and food preparation tends to fall on women.

The other day I noticed a large growth of weeds in one of my gardens. I hadn’t noticed them in previous years but now they spoil the look of the garden and they are in the way of the new plants. As I was weeding, it occurred to me that the weeds are similar to limiting beliefs. They may have been around for many years and perhaps they didn’t interfere with us, but when we are ready for a different goal the belief is in the way of success and has to be removed. Some of the weeds came out easily with the bulb sitting near the surface of the ground.
I have a couple of friends with young kids. When I ask them what they are doing for July 4th, they are either not taking their kids for fireworks or doing it at a distance, because of the possible loud noises. None of which occurs to me. As a first time mom, should I even have considered these? The only thing I can think about is how exciting it will be for B. Then again, I hadn't really ever stopped to think of the "loud" noises that might scare him. Should I be more cautious?
Last night, our family went to The Grove here in Los Angeles. The Grove is a large retail shopping center that really goes above and beyond decorating for the holidays. They have a beautifully decorated tree larger than the one at Rockefeller Center in New York. They "create" falling snow every evening. For children who live in So. Califo ia, this is a delight! As we strolled through the crowd, I noticed a very long line of children waiting outside a rather large gingerbread house. As my children and I peeked through the windows, we could see old St.

Here is an exercise I do with many coaches, when I start teaching them about marketing their coaching business online. I say: "Let's say you meet me somewhere, and I am in your target market. Life is full of transitions. Some we choose and some sneak up on us. And even when we choose, a sneaky one can still slip in sideways. In fact, Mike Kushner, co-owner of a computer solutions company in Palo Alto, Califo ia, has paramedics ready to respond to calls from what he calls the “digitally desperate.” Some of that desperation is created because the hardware malfunctions.
All of us know how a small stone thrown into a pond can stir up ripples all around it. This imagery is a good way of showing how a single person can make a big impact on his surroundings and the people around him. It shows how a person and his attitude can affect so much even without his notice or knowledge.
Often when I am working with clients and they are having problems making the decisive move I see that it is ‘everybody’ that holds them back. The ‘everybody’ I am talking about is the ‘everybody’ that is in our mind, that acts as our internal censor. The n“What will everybody think is if ...

This article is for the person who likes to wait to take action until they know they’ll have a big result, have it perfect, or at least won’t fail. It’s also for those who take an action one time, and if they don’t get the result they imagined, they stop. First, no judgment. I’ve been there. For most of my life, I only did things that I was pretty sure I was naturally good at and would be likely to get a positive result. “Wasting” time was my nemesis, and anything without
Thy Kingdom Come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven! We all have some basic needs. Food. Clothing. Shelter. Health. Without these, life is difficult and not very enjoyable. But once you have these, what is it that makes you happy? Chances are extremely high that even if you attained everything you desired in life, you would still eventually become discontented once again. That is, unless you understand that the only pleasure you derive from anything is that which your mind gives to it. If you remove your thoughts and attention from any object or experience, your corresponding happiness and enjoyment vanis
Two months ago I published 10 ways you let fear get a hold of you. I continue this exploration with 9 Conditions of Fear. As a Life Coach, my intention is to demonstrate the conditions that make fear more favorable. In phase III of the Inspired Action Coaching process my coaches and I work with people to shift the conditions of life to support happiness and success. Consider this idea, “Your environment dictates who you are!” Most people have allowed the conditions of their life to set themselves up. Rather than being deliberate, they are accidental.
In this time in human history, it is becoming more and more important for people to tap into the power that they have inside. The days of being comfortably numb for many of us are over, and we are being called and challenged to evolve. In order to make this happen, we're going to have to start making some bold moves - and that can feel quite scary. Bold moves may bring up fear, but consider the alte ative. For most of us staying the same is no longer an option - and in fact may be an even more frightening idea.
When you begin your journey as a woman entrepreneur, your most important action step is to get clients and create a “buzz” about your product or service so you can keep the business alive and get on a path to profitability. With effective marketing, your business will grow and over time, word will spread about the results people are getting when they work with you. If becoming a leader in your industry is a goal for you, now will be the time to consider an updated look in your business – a new brand image - both personally and professionally.

Your work or life may require speaking in public. Some people think of public speaking as delivering a talk to a large audience; others think that two or more people constitute a large enough audience to be intimidating. An early step I take with my Platinum clients is to walk them through having a marketing conversation with potential clients so they quickly start to grow their business. One of the effective strategies to set up that conversation is to send out a promotional email. You don’t need to feel you have to wait to get your website set up or start up an electronic newsletter; all of us have a list of people we can contact. And, if you don’t have clients, it’s one of the easiest ways to GET clients!

Well, as advertisers are helpfully reminding us, Valentine’s Day is just around the corner. For me, as for many other people, this can be a time of irritation. This isn’t because I’m what our culture calls a “single guy.” I enjoy that, actually. It’s because this is the time of year when I get to hear people lament how long it’s been since they’ve bee “in a relationship,” or since they’ve done whatever other romantic thing they think they should be doing. One Person’s Romantic Comedy Is Another’s Horror Movie
Referring back to the email I sent out a few weeks ago about those things that keep us from making the changes in our lives that we SAY we want to make, I would like to briefly touch upon the third most common excuse: “I’m scared of what I might find out.” Could it be that we are so numb by our current way of being that we would rather play it safe and maintain our mediocre status quo than risk going through some tough times for the gift of experiencing life and all her magnificence?
Have you ever noticed yourself thinking about what someone else is thinking about? I know I have. I can honestly say that I spent most of my life being unaware of doing this, I did it automatically. And I went as far as believing that I really knew what other people were thinking about. n n I’ve had full blown arguments with someone else – in my head – without ever speaking a single word out loud to this person. This may sound like insanity but it isn’t – it’s actually quite

I have worked with Grocery Chains, Grocery Stores, Ice Businesses, Insurance Companies, Bread Company, Online Businesses and Home Businesses for over 30 years. I was coaching a client yesterday who was feeling terribly off center due to some family circumstances that caused her to feel very guilty. She's got an ill mother, is starting a new career, and is trying to find balance. She felt like everybody thought she was a bad daughter for not immediately tending to her elderly mother's each and every demand, the moment it was asked of her, and the situation was distracting her from her work and life. When I started digging I realized she was listening to her "Everybody". You've got an Everybody, too.
