Relieving Anxiety with Brainwave Entrainment Many of us have heard of brainwave entrainment and we are also familiar with anxiety. You may be wondering how the two are related. According to clinical studies, brainwave entrainment seems to help reduce the symptoms of anxiety. It is also known to relieve the symptoms of depression and stress, which are both closely connected with anxiety. This finding could bring hope in the lives of many Americans who are troubled by an anxiety disorder. Statistics of anxiety disorder in America
These days we hear a lot of talk about the mantras used for meditation. Some people say a random word is best, others recommend the universal sound Aum or Om. But what about the mantras used in the Transcendental Meditation technique? Are they generic or special? Secular or religious? Useless or effective? And where do they come from? These are important questions so letâs find an answer for them. The Transcendental Meditation technique is an effortless mental procedure whe
What is Superconsciousness? Athletes call it the zone. Artists and writers call it the muse. Theists call it enlightenment. For the rest of us mere mortals, it’s those times when a solution to a problem or name we’re trying to remember suddenly pops into our mind; like when we’re taking a ...
When we think about prayer, what comes to mind is some kind of request or solicitation of God . Maybe we are ill and ask to get better, or ask forgiveness, or maybe a little help with the lottery. These are the kinds of prayers that we mostly engage in. We might also repeat a mantra, for example, the "Our Father," or Hail Mary" as an act of devotion or contrition. Then there are the holy thoughts about God, heaven, the saints and Jesus as we sit quietly. Or, we might thank God for something good that has happened to us and ask for protection from the bad.
Have you ever watched TO CATCH A PREDATOR, the Dateline-NBC show with Chris Hansen. The show that breaks for commercial with the guy lying face down on the ground and a policeman’s knee in his back. These men, the ones busted on Dateline-NBC, don’t seem able to control themselves. And that’s the real story. That after being on the air for months, with all the attendant publicity and buzz around the program, men still show up to meet the 13-year old girl. They are willing to risk everything. Like moths to a flame, they can’t help themselves. They’re addicted.
As my friend re-filled his water bottle, he took a marble from one container and placed it into another. I asked what he was doing and he explained to me it was a part of the 'Counting Principle'. For every goal you can make quantifiable - you will be naturally driven to improve. I realized that human beings are geared for growth. The time we spend in school is learning lessons, sitting tests, and progressing when we have proven our worth. Our applicable intelligence is valued on a scale with reference to the pass-mark.
Music therapy has been addressing learning disabilities and behavioral health problems for quite some time. The prominence of music as a cure to ailments like ADHD and ADD is not followed in the mainstream or presented by media because the pharmaceutical companies would like you to think that Ritalin, Adderall, or other commonly prescribed pharmaceutical drugs are the only way to calm the behaviors and thoughts associated with ADD/ADHD. The good news is that there are other ways to heal these ailments, and they are very effective.
We have seen evidence that EFT works at a verifiable level in the field of EEG brain wave measurements. We were pleased to monitor brain waves while Gary Craig and some of the EFT Masters worked with groups of people, who volunteered to be part of a project, that could make the benefits of EFT more visible.
There are 4 kinds of ground. The Good Book, the Bible describe them as: Wayside, Stony Ground, Among Thorns and Good Ground. On each type of ground, there was an occurence. Each occurence took place depending on the kind of ground. The ground dictated what happened to the seeds that fell on them. So, if we liken these grounds to the heart, we can say, what happens to you is determined by the kind of heart you have. And the kind of heart you have determines what you THINK on.
It's two-thirty a.m. I light a small candle, hang up my mosquito net, and put on my robes. The forest is quiet now in this backwater rural area of northeast Thailand. I have been meditating since 10:00 p.m. in my tiny hut. The narrow, half-mile trail through the forest is about 930 steps, ...

Why is it that people who seem to have “everything” suffer from depression, loneliness, and misery? Why do they feel so unworthy? Why are they so unstable? How is that they feel so empty inside despite the fact that they have fame and fortune? The media is fixated on gossip of the rich and famous.
MINDFULNESS AND OUR HABIT ENERGYrnBy Ruth Fishel, M.Ed.rn The first thing I did every morning for many years was to read something inspirational and then meditate for at least 20 minutes. One day I received the surprise gift of an Ipad from a friend, a gift that would allow me to instantly access my email and the internet within seconds. Temptation smiled at my self- discipline and I thought, âJust this time Iâll take a peek at my email.â The âjust this timeâ was fu

Motivation is another form of energy that we use in our day to day life. It’s the energy that takes us out of bed in the morning, that moves us to get back on our feet when we go through hard times and the energy that push us to thrive in any goal or endeavor we set. Whether you’re aiming to release 20 Lbs, build your own business or write the next bestseller, along the way you may lose some of the original motivation or enthusiasm that you’ve got at the very beginning of your enterprise. What happens when this invisible form of energy diminishes?
Tibetan prayer beads, or malas, are strings of beads that have been used by Buddhists for thousands of years to help count prayers, which are known as mantras. Buddhist malas are usually composed of a circle of 108 beads which are used to complete 100 repetitions of a mantra. The extra 8 beads are used to account for any mistakes made during the repetitions.
What is Meditation? I have been teaching meditation for 20 years and frequently a prospective student will say to me, "I would like to learn to meditate, but I just don’t have the patience for it. My brain just keeps buzzing around and I can’t seem to sit still long enough to empty ...

If someone told me I would be running an online metaphysics university with thousands of students all over the world earning Bachelors, Masters, Ph.D. and D.D. degrees in metaphysical topics, I would have laughed. I was a traveling girl with a backpack, seeing the world on a shoestring, and I liked having a simple, unencumbered life without responsibility. I spent days meditating on mountain tops, weeks traveling in foreign lands, and months hiking remote places in wilde esses. I didn’t have much money, but I sure did have a great thing going on. Life was simple.
When I take on a new client in my practice as a life coach, I usually begin with a strategy of exploring what this individualâs beliefs are about himself and his life. I then find out what the underlying daily thoughts are that support those beliefs. I always discover that whatever is showing up in this personâs life, whether good or bad, is supported and perpetuated by these beliefs, the personâs emotional responses, and the resulting actions they take or do not take e
What is it that we run from? What is it that takes up almost all of our waking moments? It must be very important, otherwise we wouldn't devote an entire lifetime trying to escape it. The interesting, and at the same time depressing, thing is that all the running in the world won't distance ourselves from this incorrigible anomaly that permeates our lives like water seeps into a sponge.
Gratitude is a cornerstone in the process of manifesting. The vibratory energy of gratefulness causes physical reality to produce more things which resonate with the gratefulness you are feeling, thus causing an even more powerful feeling of gratefulness. It keeps building and building, multiplying exponentially. The more grateful you are, the more physical reality responds to this by sending things which match the vibration.
Do you believe we live more than once? Do you believe in Reinca ation? It's a yes or no question, but when most people answer, they answer with an explanation. Reinca ation is an interesting thought or concept to entertain. Are we really spiritual souls just having a physical experience? Or do we simply return to dust at the end? Truth be known - there is no truth to be known. Believers can't prove that its true and Scientists can't prove that its not (without a doubt).
(c) Jacob Newell (Gu Shen Yu Daoshi) Taiji is a Chinese fitness system based on relaxed body alignment and smooth flow of energy. It is also a moving meditation based on the philosophy of Laozi, a legendary ancient sage who taught about the virtues of remaining calm, yielding, and returning to simplicity. Traditionally it is said that Taiji is three things: Qigong, Quan, and Dao-De.
Two months ago now, I sent out an email to all you awesome peeps on my mailing list with a commitment. After years of ignoring a call of my heart & continually going back and forth in my mind with âshouldâ after âshouldâ, but never really diving in, I finally felt ready to take the plunge on something I knew I had to do. My commitment to you was that I would engage in a daily ritual/practice for a minimum of 1 hour, and that I would do this every single day for 6 mont
I’ve done somewhere in the neighborhood of forty Buddhist meditation retreats. While some only lasted a day or two, more than half involved ten to fifteen days of practicing Buddhist meditation for up to sixteen hours a day. Some were Tibetan meditation retreats. Some retreats were in the Zen tradition, including retreats for Zen archery, a form moving meditation called Kyudo. But most of my retreats were Vipassana meditation retreats. I’m not telling you this to impress you or show off. Really, all this demonstrates is that in my twenties and thirties, I didn’t have a regular job.
The use of brainwave entrainment and binaural beats for therapy and meditation has grown quite popular over the years. Brainwave entrainment is also known as brainwave synchronization. It is the method of bringing your brainwave frequencies to a certain state of mind by synchronizing them to a particular frequency of sound. In general, it helps you produce an ideal brainwave frequency with the help of an exte al audio influence. For instance, your brain will try to match its activities with the rhythmic beats you are listening to.
Nobody is certain when people began using prayer beads, but they’ve been employed in almost all religions for thousands of years. Prayer beads are used by Buddhists, Hindus, Christians, Muslims and many other religions. One reason for using prayer beads is that they allow people to keep track of the number of prayers recited when they’re doing repetitions. An example of this in Buddhism is when practitioners are reciting mantras, such as the Om Mani Padme Hum (Sanskrit) or Om Mani Peme Hung (Tibetan).
When you have emotional independence, you want for nothingrnbecause you have everything.rnDebbie Ford rnToday is the day to join me and millions of others in taking a vow of emotional independence. Emotional independence will give you the freedom to love and be loved, to give freely and to receive abundantly, to expand rather than contract, to move forward rather than stay stuck, to live in joy rather than misery, to be in control rather than to be controlled, and to be nouri
The bubble of fear and love reminds me of something my High School Chemistry/Physics teacher drew on the chalkboard. It was a diagram of the universe and the anti-universe. He said that black holes connected the two together. Here in our physical world, our universe, was us and what we see. The here and now. If we traveled through a black hole, we would end up in the anti-universe. The anti-universe is the perfect opposite of the universe. Therefore, the anti-universe would cancel out everything and anything in the universe.
How can anyone guarantee happiness? Well, they can't. But we can. We can guarantee our own happiness. In order to do that, however, we must first eliminate those things that make us unhappy. So let's get started. First, think about what makes you unhappy. Take a few moments to think about that. ...

Lying is a kind of "get out of jail free" card. We can do bad things, lie about them, and we're off the hook. Or it seems that we are. But really, we're just setting the hook deeper as we begin to believe that we can get away with almost anything, and our conduct becomes increasingly ...
For many of us, the phrase "pay attention" conjures up memories of parents, teachers, and maybe even bosses who would scold us for not being focused on what they felt we "should" be focused on. But paying attention has a much deeper and fundamental meaning. Paying attention is the equivalent of being present. We've all had intense moments of presence. For example, someone driving in front of you brakes really hard and you almost hit them. You feel present then, don't you? Bu
You are not alone. We are all here together and all you have to do is reach out to others and they will be there for you. You'll have to make yourself available to others or you won't be able to have "right fellowship." Go to the spiritual circles in your area, go to events and gatherings where you think you'll find the kind of friends you would like to have. You cannot sit in your house and not go out and still accomplish having friends. If you don't want to be alone, then you have to get out more! You also have to be willing to talk to people and risk putting your heart out there.
What is Chinese Medicine? What are the Characteristics of TCM? TCM, unlike western medicine, is holistic. The body is inseparable from the rest of nature. It automatically regulates its internal function to adopt to the regular changes that recur in the environment. Every part of the body, which includes the mind, is connected together. For example, if a patient has back pain, sore knees, and ringing in his ears, he might be advised to see an orthopedist, a neurologist and
Truth is not what we believe truth to be. Whatever we see, whatever we hear, whatever we think, whatever we believe is not truth. Truth manifests beyond that. We might say that our religion is truth, but our religions are no more than a set of beliefs, and beliefs can never be truth, only conventional wisdom based on something that we read or heard, or our own past experience. Belief can never be truth, just as reading about something and repeating it can never capture the experience, and even religious experiences always seems to follow our heritage and culture; our conditioning.
In the 21st century, travel is much different than it was back in the 1990’s. Nowadays, we all have this wondrous device called a smartphone. The internet has brought us many social networks to meet new people and stay in touch with old friends. The airline industry landscape has changed with new budget airlines to make airline travel compete with ground transportation between cities and countries around the world. These tools have made travel cheaper than ever before.
Do you feel at times that you are just going through the motions, living life unconsciously? Did you know that this feeling is actually close to spirituality, more so than being entirely and endlessly enthralled with life? Now, there is a difference between living life unconsciously and loving life. Living life unconsciously can be a result of just boredom, or dumbing out from a lack of creativity and energy, where actually loving life can be a result of some good karma that won't quit!
Sahaja Meditation is a simple technique that lets you tap into your subtle inner energy system and harness its power to become better balanced and better connected to yourself — emotionally, physically, and spiritually. Even at its most fundamental level, Sahaja Meditation can offer important practical benefits; for example, relief from stress, anxiety and negative thought patterns.
I awoke this morning at 4:44am, following a deep sleep and some potent and beautiful dreams. I prepared myself for my morning ritual, and settled in for an hour of yoga, meditation, prayer, toning, singing, and dancing. Greeting the new day, I spoke my first words, âDear God, thank you for this glorious, glorious, g-l-o-r-i-o-u-s day.â With the magic of the gift of this new day coursing through, I stretched my body out in a sun salutation, bowed to the sun, still behind t
In the last two articles, we talked about what enlightenment is, and the qualities of an enlightened person. In this article, we’re going to look at how enlightened people put their wisdom into action. The mark of truly enlightened people is the actions they take to help put an end to suffering throughout the world.
The idea of creating a community or a group of unified like minded folks is a great idea, but what happens when there is conflict? As long as there are individuals with different worldviews, there will be conflict. Lack of conflict resolution techniques has been the undoing of many communities and it is the most crucial skill to learn if a community is to become successful. Basic Maturity Is A Pre-requisite First of all, the members of the community must have a certain level of maturity to begin with.
Reinca ation is an interesting concept to entertain. Are we spiritual beings having a physical experience, or do we return to dust at the end of our life? Many of the world's religions teach that we are on Earth to experience and learn good behaviour so that we may grow as souls. These lessons are many and inca ations may run into the hundreds. Karma is one of the major components of reinca ation. Karma is a law that says 'We are held accountable for all of the actions in our life, as governed by those of a higher power'.
While we often do not think of gods and deities when we think about Buddhism, the fact remains there are symbolic gods and goddesses in certain modes of Buddhist practice. This is most evident in Tibetan Buddhism where the Goddess Tara appears frequently in symbols and images. Those interested in the subject of Tibetan Buddhism would certainly benefit from taking a closer look at this particular goddess. Such an exploration would aid in gaining an understanding of what she represents. From this, a clearer understanding of what Tibetan Buddhism represents can also be derived.
What are attachments? How can they cause us suffering and how can meditation help with our attachments? First, what are attachments? Simply put, attachments are anything that we need in order to be happy. “I have to have this or I will not be happy. Without this person or without this accomplishment, I will not be happy. I need it. I need it, period.”

Staggering amount of information can be found on the internet regarding meditation â a subject that is as vast and deep as the space itself. Most of the information caters to the requirement of glorifying the subject and sheds little light on some ânot so brightâ aspects. From time immemorial, meditation has been associated with spiritual development of human beings. Those who are not interested in spirituality also practices meditation for improving their mental and ph
