I’ve often heard when working with a corporate leadership client – ‘well I haven’t told anyone I’m working with you – I don’t want them to know there’s a problem’. And I have to ask myself ‘where has this message come from’ because I certainly don’t work with clients because there’s a problem (nor do any of my associate executive coaches) – I work with clients who are whole, capable, already successful AND have unreleased potential.
As the chill of Autumn arrives, we know that busy times are ahead -- complete with ghosts and goblins, turkey trots, Christmas, Hanukah, New Year's and other beautiful celebrations fast approaching. Along with the bustle of excitement often come stress, worry, exhaustion, and over-load, ...

Today I'd like to discuss the fourth named principle in The NEW Think and Grow Rich, which is specialized knowledge. You know, most people really miss it here; they don't really catch what the chapter says. The chapter does not say that you need to have a lot of specialized knowledge. It does not say that you need to be a good engineer. It says that you need to be an idea person. Now, that's the specialized knowledge of the rich. You want to, of course, think of the things that rich people think about. Are rich people "thinking about investments"? Why, sure they are.
Here's a moment of insight, while it's actually happening, into the life of an author. I am reading my Spanish translation of The NEW Think and Grow Rich. They call it El Nuevo Piense y Hágase Rico. And I come across this line, "La acumulación de dinero no puede dejarlo al azar, a la buena fortuna, a la suerte." Now, I'm not going to assume, since you're in a primarily English audience at this moment, that you don’t fully understood that.
So here we are in July. Where did the first half of the year go? It only seems a couple of weeks ago that I was drinking festive egg-nog, wearing my Christmas sweater and humming 'Sleigh Ride' too loudly in line at the supermarket. It's kinda scary to think that there's just six months of 2005 ...
It’s 7:30 p.m. on a Thursday evening, and you’re still at the office preparing for a presentation you’ll make to top management early the next day. You have just hung up the phone after speaking with your spouse, and the annoyed voice on the other end of the line still rings in your ears. “Missing dinner again? The kids are starting to forget what you look like!” Still, you face at least two more hours of work, and you’re tired, hungry, and stressed. Just as you begin to dive back into preparing for Friday’s presentation, Leiza, one of your direct reports, walks in and interrupts.

Your employers are taking advantage of you, you are about to be made redundant, you are in debt and your finances are a mess, your wife/husband/partner and you keep arguing, you are under so much pressure - you need to "do" something, anything, right now. Ostensibly, I was reading to my grandson but, at eighteen months, Daniel doesn’t have much of an attention span – unless he is fixated on his need to eat NOW! So, I had read maybe one sentence when Daniel wandered off to pl

In the musical Cabaret when Sally Bowles sang that money makes the world go around, it reverberated deep within the psyche of every man. Wealth makes you happy, gets you the girl youâve always dreamed of, and your life will be fantastic for ever more. All that is required is the ways and means. That surely is the adage that drives all men. nnBut, research carried out by the Government last year seems to prove us all wrong. It shows that there is no link between affluence an
The ending part is one of the important & the significant aspects in a presentation other than the introduction. The audience remembers best the last thing they hear & the last point, you say. In finishing a presentation, it should be more than basically finishing it or telling the viewers that it is over. You must leave a take-home message or drive them back to the key points & wrap up the talk in full circle to the principal objectives. Because when the audience leaves the
Asking your direct reports questions rather than always telling them what to do is a key way to develop their abilities and help them grow. That said, there is one question-word in your leadership tool chest that I suggest eliminating altogether: "Why?" Why? (Couldn't resist... ) The very nature of the question causes defensiveness. There has been a mushrooming growth in positive thinking and affirmation based psychology in recent years. We have been taught to appreciate the goodness both within ourselves and within others. It's all about gratitude. But the question of our true nature is still one that lingers in the mind. It is the question of the ages – maybe even the ultimate question. It goes to the heart of understanding who we are and what lies in our future both on an individual and a societal level. It was originally addressed by the scriptures.
